Fundamentally, what we need to talk about in debates is getting back to the constitutional mandate of using sound currency like gold or silver. Perhaps in future debates Peter can educate and persuade the audience that the country needs to get back to the constitution on this matter. Sound money prevents inflation, which if you are the the working poor it really matters with keeping general prices as low as possible. The current economic model of Keynes does the opposite and inflates naturally.

Remember, he's not a career politician so it's normal to get a bit nervous at first. He'll come out much stronger as he covers more of the publics questions. Even as a fan of Peter, I thought that--at least until the very end--it was largely a dead heat. Simmons and McMahon, judged solely on presentation, each had something distinctive to offer that Peter didn't: a track record of distinguished service, and an empathetic and attuned ear. They also talked about themselves more, whereas Peter talked the issues straight.

However, Peter finished superbly. He will linger in the minds of viewers and listeners. Was that final cheer mostly for him?

Of Peter's two opponents, I think Linda is the bigger threat. She had less substance than Peter, but she was very smooth, and she worked very hard to connect on an emotional level. (E.g., "I've been there; I know what it's like.")
