  • If there was an adore button, I'd rape it for this song.

  • @TehDrehstuhl hahaha ty & nice comment, brought me a good laugh after work. Always had a thing for this song myself so I am with you 200% on that. It was songs like this that inspired me to re-create FM the way I wanted it to sound, in General Midi soundfont format.

  • @breadrack Y'know, just because of this, and how amazing you made this up, I actually got my dad to fix DooM back onto my computer. I've been playing this same level for about two days straight. Y'know, us DooMers- we gotta make life fun for eachother.

  • @TehDrehstuhl Doom will never die. I've got a 30map megawad full of zdoom/skulltag features i might get around to finishing one day also. my amd 486 dx/2 66mhz cpu was just fast enough to run it smoothly back in 95 with a whopping 8 megs of ram and half gig maxtrash HDD and 2x creative 'reveal' cd-kit with SB16 and caca-brand speakers... from this machine I learned to love FM synthesis - and years later found myself missing it sorely, eventually enough to make 'Regression FM' :) Cheers

  • @breadrack All the way, friend. All the way. <3

    Long live DooM!

  • Where can I get this version of the music????

  • i love this soundtrack.

  • thats definately an FM synth, i've heard that when playing old games like wolfenstein 3d, but definately modified!, WAY COOL

  • WOW!!!

    FM Synth!!!

    Send me the Link!!!

  • Send me a private message with your os/soundcard details and what driver you are using, and i'll see if you will be able to run it. requires 6mb hard drive space and 32 megs of ram to run, heh :) oh yea and a creative emu10k/20k (sblive audigy or x-fi) card. This way i know if you will have any compatability problems beforehand.

  • One of the best themes in the game, always liked this level music. Nicely reproduced.

  • Anyway, it sounds like the GBA version of the song.

  • This is what it sounded like on my Soundblaster 16 ISA soundcard... so hence, through alot and i mean ALOT of trial and error i was able emulated the instruments through filtering basic saw/sine/triangle/square/noise waves at one or two voices per note keyed. The gameboy sound you may be referring to is the harpsichord, since pianos were not allowed in doom music (as per ID software staff)... the composer jokingly put the harpsichord... and there it stood, and still stands today.

  • Yep, I meant the Harpsichord...

Did you play the GBA version of Doom 2? The music there sounds EXACTLY like this...

  • I did look up the GBA version and you are very correct. In fact, the GBA version seems to 'emulate' the old dos style fm sound of original doom - just the very direction im also going with this synthesizer styled soundfont. I had not even known there was a GBA version - it figures though - but thanks for the heads up and stay tuned if you like what you hear, im going to have more vids up soon.

  • Where to download the soundfont?

  • AMAZING!
