Randomness is what makes videos awesome. And thanks, this'll help me out on how to improve my comic a bit. I hope you'll check it out. Maybe give me a few more pointers when it's up.
Elson, I'm a beginner artist n i like to ask something, how will it take me to become a professional artist because i want also to make my own graphic novel someday but i just don't know how to do it. So i taught i would ask to cuz u seem so experienced n i like to know ur secret if u have one. So if u could help me i would really appreciate it, TNKS :>
I use a 0.4 for inking because 0.3 -0.2 is rare here. also a light under the table. GENIUS. Sadly I don't have a glass table so I ink directly and erase the pencil lines. again very nice
for one, reader and photoshop are two completely different programs that have almost nothing to do with each other. just thought i'd get that out of the way.
anyway, you can either buy photoshop or torrent it.
if you guys are noticing he's not gonna answer back to u
so I am going to answer the paper question
I do not know what paper he uses but I suggest for sketching use any type of paper and when You wanna work on your comic use Bristol paper you can find some for people in the U.S. at Michael's or at any art store but it doesn't matter what kind of paper you use if you got a scanner then you can just scan the picture in to double sided paper!
The paper I used was simply A4 copy paper. I'm sure you guys in the States have it! = )
I'm not too sure if what I'm using is Bristol but I'm very sure it's just plain paper you can buy at your local officeworks/newsagent store! XD Cheap and efficient - it gets the job done and that's what matters.
@ElsonDarkspeedsWong Hi I know its been years since this thread was used, but could you tell me if you do indeed use 8.5 x 11inch copy paper, and the comic is 6.4 x 10 inches, does it get a little distorted? I'm relieved to see it's possible to get published without using 11x 17 inch boards and a massive scanner... right?
@panaceaartist - Good question. Nope you don't need to really invest on a bigger scanner. An A4 sized or US Letter sized piece of paper will do the trick. The thing is make sure you scan it at 300dpi, at minimum, to get the standard you need for professional publication.
The only disadvantage of using smaller paper is being unable to do the finer details when compared to an A3 sized paper (which is twice the size of an A4). ;) Hope that helps!
My son really is learning a lot from you. I would like to know what type of glass you used for the top of your drawing table. Is the glass opaque and what wattage of light does your light take? I would like his father to make him something similar for him to work on.
You're funny. XD Thanx for uploading this vid, it inspired me, and now I know what I'm doing wrong making the comics. And also, hwo'd you make that cover of your comic book you've made?!
Elson it's me Katie Ellen Hills from deviant remember! how are you, have you seen any of my clips the newest one is about the deviant artest sonic stlye and your in it so check it out please!!!!!! i want to know what you think!
Aw sorry dude! I couldn't resist showing and spoiling it for everyone! *SHOT* XXD
Ha ha... XD Your most welcome Lewis, I'll make sure I add your vid on my next blog/TGAF website update! :D Can't wait to finish off the chapter. I've got lots to look forward to with the other chapters I had planned for. ^^
BTW you guys at Sonic & Mario Community sure had a great time! XXD The vid was really good, some of it was from your own footage! Nice. *thumbs up*
It was a fantastic day out, a real mind-boggling experience. Its funny when your a kid and you go past the Sega building imagining what it must be like inside so I instantly got transported back to a 4 year old child when I went inside. It was awesome getting a hug off Sonic aswell!
I really hope Wrecksfest won't be the only time we meet and I'm hoping we can share some stories together in the near future!
LOL! XXD Yeah Stooooooongbaaaaaaad! XXD I can't believe I mentioned his name a few times throughout the three videos. O.O XXD Cheers for the feedback!
Hey, my workdesk is just as bad, if not worse than that. Must be an artist thing, eh? Nice work with the light table thing by the way, that's a pretty cool idea. I'm stuck with a light box, but it's new for me and was a present from my grandma, so I'll always use it. Oh, how supportive is your family of your project? I'm just curious, cuz my parents really support my artwork even though I'm not really going anywhere with it at the moment. Other than that, good luck in everything you're doing!
Heya LordRandom! Gosh if you have a family who is really supportive you're one step ahead of the game. = ) Family support helps a whole bunch and you best make the most of it while it lasts. XD ^_~ Do yourself a favour and work as hard as you can on your art technique/knowledge so that it can help spring you into a successful career in the art's industry. *thumbs up*
And sticky tape? Do you just scan it with the tape on it and edit out its presence in photoshop? =3
And regular paper! What a relief considering that's what I use constantly. So in truth, a person can simply do it mostly by hand and apply the magic of layers to create awesome comic pages. Once again, thanks for these tips! They'll be helpful for when I get my manga finally off the ground. Good luck in your future productions of TGAF! =3
im trying to write a manga for deviant art, i have actually faved some of your pics and manga comics :D
any tips :) oh yah and you manga pages are SO NEAT :O mine go all smudged..

ShojoOtakuAngel 2 years ago
Thanks buddy! I used a program called MANGA Studios EX and I extracted the manga tones and speed lines from it. From there I applied on the comic. ;)

TRUE !
but I'm just saying about the bristol paper for people who are a bit more old fashion so the ink won't go through
either way all paper is good!
