I once had a music teacher say she couldn't stand Gregorian chant and i just thought "how????!!!!!...........never mind, im just not going to talk to you anymore"
@kb9agt probably not. the Solfeggio frequencies were effectively "lost" some time ago. and the scales and the understanding of frequencies have not only changed but are very different. you would need to to a large amount of research to find the actual frequencies. research that could be done (possibly exclusively) in the Vatican library. but im willing to give any information i can.
Why "Deum verum"? Generally weird in the o-declination. The neuter form of "god" doesn't really make sense and if it's in the accusative, there's some information missing...
look for the lyrics under "Latin Psalters" in wikipedia.its Psalm 94,Versio Romana, and put the chorus part in between them, the in trinitate stuff lol:)
Wonderfully soothing, outstandingly easeful song! As I am utterly unhappy in the last 3 years these Gregorian songs truly deeply smoothes me down! Love so much Gregorian songs!!!
@hurricaneomega Very nice but it isn't monophonic... hardly noticeable though but at 0:43 and at some later points there are 5th parallels. it was apart from the octave the only use interval in common Gregorian music
I've never heard of Gregorian chants until my friend released a progressive metal CD that contained such chants. This is very amazing an uplifting. Also has a calming effect.
It's funny...even being 17 and not that religious, I still listen to this music very often as I'm doing homework or studying. I guess this beautiful music helps me calm my nerves tremendously.
@wolfy336 You don't have to be religious to appreciate religious music. Just as I can be an atheist and still respect the literary value of the Bible, anyone can enjoy music without having to follow the culture that produced it.
Cease this childishness. This place is for chilling out and being civil with our christian brothers and sisters. Take your generalizations and bad grammar to a black metal video, or a troll page.
@asianwhitenigger I respect it as an example of ancient poetry, and as a very influential piece of writing. That does not necessarily mean that I believe it to be true.
Claiming that all atheists are Bible-bashing trolls is just as closed-minded as my saying that all Christians are fundamentalist, xenophobic bigots, which I know to be far from the truth. That is all I have to say, and I will not bog this comment list down with a theological debate as has befallen so many other videos.
@asianwhitenigger If you are referring to my saying that "all Christians are fundamentalist, xenophobic bigots," then I would like to draw your attention to the very next thing that I say; namely, "...which I know to be far from the truth."
And thank you for drawing me back to this peaceful bit of music.
@wolfy336 I just read in this awesome natural healing book, that "when sound passes through the ear it activates the vagus nerve that extends from the ear down into the larynx and through the entire intestinal tract, where it's fibers control gastric and pancreatic secretions. This is in the are of the third chakra, which is an emotional center. The vagus nerve also has inhibitory fibers that pass through the heart, which is also an emotional center" (heart chakra)
@Blitzzyful that's really quite interesting information you have there... i am very musically minded and would fully agree that music has special qualities for sure...

this is absolutely sublime. but i have a question. the parts when the voices split, is the interval in octave? please answer if you know i need to find out so would be much appreciated. thank you very much
This chant is so beautiful. The polyphony adds an ambience to the song that praises that God is the One True God. Amen. Praises be to God, and His Christ, the King of Kings.
how can anyone doubt God after hearing this? If this is divine inspiration, can you imagine what God alone can come up with? oh wait......EVERYTHING :)
What is the technique used beginning at 0:43 seconds and is it indicative of a certain style or period of Gregorian chant? It is one of my favorite aspects.
@fieldstonewall are you talking about polyphony? its when the same note is sung in different pitches, making a harmony. it was developed at the end of the middle ages.
@HeadbangerPars Well, I understand that it is polyphony, but this sounds much different than Palestrina or other polyphonic chants. Is this a specific style or mood or era?
@fieldstonewall This is homophony, because the voices although in harmony move together in the same direction. Polyphony, the voices would be moving in different directions from each other giving it a more elaborate texture.
@fieldstonewall It's not a vocal technique, but a compositional practice. The different parts are singing in parallel in intervals called fourths and fifths. It's a very common feature of medieval music; from classical music onwards we've preferred to use parallel thirds and sixths.

Unless, you re-obtain your faith and follow in the footsteps of those who held the line. Tours 732AD, Vienna 1683 AD....
Will you hold the line? or go to your fate like meek sheep!
I'm afraid you may be right, but there are many prophecies from the first century of the global domination of the secular republican system (the 19th) that a great Catholic monarch will arise from the obscurity now inhabited by the ancient, royal, and Catholic bloodlines of Europe... and he will crush the enemies of God. Hopefully this will usher in a Pax Catholicus for a thousand years.
