A bunch of thugs and ex-offenders that hate dealing with the public. And management is always talking fare-increase...why not stop these non-performing, unhelpful, lazy drivers from earning 100K for doing nothing but getting nasty and rude with the passengers? They are a joke!!!
im a bus driver at CATS/charlotte,nc and i wanted to know , when an operator gets hired to they get place on the extra board or will they be placed on a reg run, i really dont know washDC at all. Metrobus looks kool.
Metro trains you on the routes at the bus garage you're going to work at. The assignment you get is based on seniority--so it depends on what's left after everybody else has picked their run/extra board assignment.
i agree with you eass4170....if you don't like the conditions where your at, then quit dumbass. jesus, this is why people are the way they are nowaday's. no one wants to suck it up and do the fucking job. yes, it sucks sometimes. but i myself being out of work for more than a year, finally finding a job...i'm damned glad i have one now in this economy. and i don't complain.
i deliver auto parts, and i deal with just as many assholes as these people do...i just keep going....
Unfortunately, when you get hired at Metro, they force you to join a union.
I'm a member of Local 689, the producers of this video. They take over $50 a month out of my paychecks and I don't see anything in return except for Obama propaganda... I'm pretty sure they used some of that union money to donate to his campaign too.
Very interesting. Well done to the union for posting this but I'm afraid I have to ask: what kind of union allows the sort of extreme shifts like these to be worked? The trade union movement started because workers decided not to accept bosses super exploiting them and making them work shifts like these. I pity the female driver who struggles to juggle family life around the job. For a 35 hour week with no loss of pay and NO HEINOUS SHIFTS!
The metro is a great job, You have work in a uncertain time, but the Metro should also realize that your working for your family first, they are second.
Not an easy job at all

WMATA is a good system...Does metro hire you as a part-time or full-time operator after training?

I wish there were no unions so the free market could actually determine someone's worth

We really don't have leverages.
Upon hiring, the first two papers I signed were the mandatory union membership application and a Non-Strike agreement.
What power does a union have that can't strike?

This is a good video on managers exploiting the working class. Slow down and drive safely.
