  • THIS IS SO GOOD!!!!! OHMG!!! THEY MUSTMUSTMUST PLEASEPLEASEMUSTPLEASE RELEASE ALL OF THEIR B-SIDES ON A MASSIVE CD COMPILATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • good

  • this song is all about when thom yorke was at school and the cruelty hence 'bastard headmasters'

  • clicked like before any sound played... correct choice

  • I actually found this track years ago at a thriftstore in the east village, it's on the No Surprises/Running From Demons single. They had a sealed Japanese import for one dollar.

  • that slide guitar in the chorus... undescribable

  • Second most favourite Radiohead song.

  • mind you, this is 1996. 2010 music still cannot defeat the head of the radio.

  • words can't describe how much i love that fucking ending.

  • @protomanhasballs so true, i can't describe it either

  • And this is a B-side. Says it all really. Once you discover the depths of Radiohead you realise how unimportant just about every other band are.

  • bastard headmaster!

  • @mannyblacque Shit comment!

  • @Drenex00 what did i say? those are just lyrics to the song. "dressed in bishop's robes, terrifies me still, in bishop's robes. bastard headmaster. i'm not going back."

  • @mannyblacque Erm duh,I know :l

  • 02:05 : Musical orgasm

  • So chilled out, just like Talk Show Host. The Street Spirit single has 3 of the best songs known to man !

  • favorite radiohead song :)

  • this IS epic.

  • This song is pretty epic.

  • Thom said this was a song about his headmaster at Abington school where all of em went, and his headmaster used to dress in bishops robes and was a useless headmaster really. He hated him a lot. He said he gets this deep sinking feeling when he hears or sees him. The songs about that.

  • temonnn

  • i am not goin back

    gotta love the chorus

  • Thumbs up if you think Radiohead has the best b-sides in history!

Also, don't you just "hate" that half of Radiohead's songs seems to be about you and the other half seems to be about everything that surrounds you (society, environment, modern life etc.)?

  • @makidtrej yes you're right, at least you are not alone with that

  • @Renegadesays Thom is a very emptahic guy i suppose.

  • @makidtrej He's also a great example for how you can create something out of you're pain

  • Fantastic psychic hypnotic song... the 1990s were crap in many respects, but there were real gems and RH production was one of them...

  • i listened to this song once or twice a long time ago, and years later i remembered the ending part but i had no idea where it was from. this song is so beautiful, i can't believe i ever forgot it.

  • I bought an import cd from australia about 5yrs ago with this and pearly on it.. had it for a month, then it came up missing :'( $30 down the drain.. now I cant find the cd anywhere

  • This song is incredible. The reverb bass drum near the end is one of the most perfect sounds I've ever heard.

  • I went to Zia and they had like every single and EP release by Radiohead for like 8 bux each man, i just about pissed my pants, there's some rare stuff in there.

  • haha, you made me laugh :D Awsome!!

  • Love it.

  • man...this song brings back some memories.

  • I have the Street Spirit (Fade Out) single CD1 =) Talk Show Host is good too.

  • this song is high up on RADIOHEADs all time best songs EVER!! LOve THIS FUCKING BND

  • greeborhys it's not because he acted like a priest - go to abingdon school and look at it - then you'll get what the song is about

  • This song makes me think of catholic education in the past 100-50 years in Quebec. I heard it was horrible.

    Beautiful song, I almost cried.

Why does Radiohead does not do song like this one anymore?

    Sorry for my english

  • What is it about British schools that seem to frighten people? So many songs written about the experience: Bishop's Robes, The Headmaster Ritual (The Smiths), The Wall (Pink Floyd) - to name a few.

  • my schools scares me. the ever present threat of spending a day in the bear pit is enough to straighten you out

  • watch a couple of old british films :) they'll show you the sternness that the british education system used to possess :)

  • this was definately a song that shoulda been on the album... I've always been more excited about Radioheads b-sides than their studio albums... they seem to take a little more chance on the bsides. lovely.

  • gorgeous

  • why dont they include the b-sides in the albums almost all of em are completely amazing?

  • @GrowTheCaine Because that would ruin the flow of the album as a whole. They aren't bad songs, they just don't fit with the rest

  • @GrowTheCaine because they're radiohead

(i had to be the one who writes this comment.. some1 had to...)

  • @GrowTheCaine The Yorke works in mysterious ways..

  • yeah this song rules, its about some priest that they were afraid of in highschool

  • its about their headteacher who used to act like he was a priest

  • @bwbl He wasn't a priest it was the headmaster. His name was Michael St John Parker and he was still headmaster when I went to Abingdon School (he was a twat of an evil stuck up man - one of those teachers who became a teacher because they hate children and want to discipline them - in his image ofcourse)

  • god...i love this song!

  • Love this song.

  • i love it very very much.

  • They need to release a B-side compilation, cause this is the Shnit

  • they have, its called Radiohead Lost Treasures 1993-1997. Except i havent found it yet, but it looks awesome

  • 207 - 239 is insane

  • pure merveille !!

  • mmm....Eminem rip off this awesome song.

    it's called "Marshall Mathers"

    i (L) Radiohead

  • Thanks! I've been waiting to hear this in its entirety for a long while.

  • Well apparently it's on the Street Spirit B-Side, however I got it by slightly less-legal means. ;)

  • Ya it's on street spirit, it's now up on iTunes i beleive :)

  • @Kernnee good job, support the music

  • @Kernnee can you find singles like this online? or in record stores? id love to own a copy with the album art...

  • @stereosanctity7

The album art featured in the video is actually from Thom Yorke's solo album The Eraser, which you'd be able to get your hands on fairly easily, if that's what you meant. That album doesn't contain this song though. If you're looking for the Street Spirit single, I imagine you could find it online- I bought not too long after posting this video from a record shop's singles rack, which some shops do have, or did at the time. Best of luck in your search!

  • @Kernnee cool thanx..ill check amoeba..they have alot...

  • where can i find a CD with this on it?

  • ive got it on a Q CD called Mmmmm

  • Finally, somebody posts this; I've been looking for a non-cover on here forever! Thank you!

  • this is realy cool, thanks for the vid

  • I love the drawings, if you stare at them for awhile they sort of move.
