As leader of the Police Force in Western Australia, he is solely accountable for his misconduct and utter failure to protect a Western Australian citizen. He should be charged and sacked.

Tasers are a less lethal weapon (not at all) perfect for compliance. I am not a cop, yet any rational person whom could not get a drunk, drugged up etc person to comply would surely use a taser rather than risk a physical melee and getting scratched, bitten, gouged at...
THEY DO NOT REPLACE GUNS. There is a high probability the taser actually will not deliver an electric shock. If you pull a firearm out in public, same old result. Wielding a knife, you may be tased depending on the situation.

if you cannot justify the use of a gun in a situation then you cannot justify using a taser in that situation.
