sennheise german made product. amazing, germans know how to engineer and make quality product and i respect that, always look for quality now quantity
The Cx-95s sound better than the 300s in my oppinion as they don't have as much peak around the 6-8khz range so the treble is smoother. He was right about the crispness in the high end, but I'm not sure if some of it is to do with my music. Some of my CDs were scratched when I ripped them, (plus possibly mp3 compression?)
I find the fit in the ears isn't as good as on the CX-300. I have to use the large cushions on them instead of the medium as with the 300s.
My first experience with this type of earphones was with a pair of high end sony ones, but they didn't go very loud for the player volume and then I replaced them with some Philips ones, but was disappointed as they didn't fit in my ears properly and so had crap bass and didn't block out sound and were also too quiet.
I recently bought a pair of Sennheiser CX 300-II from play . com. I find them great, i'm no expert but the sound is thick with good bass and treble. I got mine for £15 like i said from 'play' but i think RRP is about £30-£40.
@CookieMonzta1995 Exactly the same position as you.. It's really hard to find earphones with decent sound quality for that kinda price though. It's so annoying though when you buy a pair and they just sound so distorted and nothing like what the music originally sounded like.
i bought these heaphones and i hve 2 say the sound is pretty underwhelming. the bass is seriously lacking nd i get a buzing sound whenever i plug them into my laptop that i didn't get from a cheap ass pair of headphones before. im not sure if i still need to break them in but as of now i would say avoid these. one last thing the cable is GOD AWFUL, so bad that it would put of buying them. if the cable rubs against your clothes you get this horrible scraping noise which annyoys the crap outta me
Look at the wackos talk. CX300 is boomy bass - not at all like CX500 which is high on treble, low on mids & good on bass, with a collapsed soundstage, CX95 is very balanced on the entire frequency range but with the same soundstage as the CX500.
Bose on the other hand is more on bass & bad on mids & treble & overall fidelity is lower than CX500 but better than CX300.
More people post without actually listening to these IEMs
mrkmrby is right, get the cx300s. almost identical specs to the cx95 model for about 1/4 of the price. You can nab a pair for about 15 quid from Amazon and they're guaranteed to last atleast 2 years before showing any sign of wear.
highly recommended if you're looking for top quality headphones at a very affordable price. :)
They are actually not even in the same market. If you're going to go with the cx*00 series, buy the cx500. the cx300 have really boomy bass and a lacking high end, while the cx500 does a better job with the higher end. It's not pronounced, but it's crisp.
I'd rather buy some headphones from argoss for £2 than go spending £50 that's a total rip off, I could buy an amp with high quality sound that 10x the volume of those for £50
how much that amp would cost? and woudn't it be a pain in the ass to carry it around? and What if you jacked theese one into the amp, coudn't you get even better sound?
hey mate. You mentioned that the cord 0.6m long. Is that measured from the tip of the earbud or from the part where the 2 cables join? Could u measure it for me mate? looking at getting these but i dont wanna have to use extension cable. Cheers buddy!
The cx500 are great headphones, I havent tried these headphones yet but the cx550 are like the cx95 and are fairly new outside of the USA. I have both the cx550 and cx500. I like the look of the cx550 and the sound quality too. The cx500 is a great headphone, but the cx550, I feel, is even better with noise isolation and sound quality
I recently had a pair of CX 500's which I lost, so I am now in the market for some new earphones. I either want to get another pair of CX 500's or the Cx95's.
How is the noice cancelling on these Cx95's? Like when they are in and playing is the majority of outside noise cancelled out?
Also I don't suppose you have tried the CX500's out, and know which of the two I should get?
cx500 is very nice. I have them and love them, but I recently bought some cx550. fairly new headphones and even better than the cx500. These headphones are not noise cancelling, they are noise isolation headphones, just a heads up. cx550 are like the cx95, in the style class of sennheiser. try the pxc250, these are nice noise canceling headphones. hope this helps u
get the cx300's they're much cheaper than the cx500's but have the same sound quality (just not that long microphone thing that does noise cancelling. - i've had a pair for a month now and they're the best earphones i've had. make sure you buy from amazon if you get them though - there's a lot of fakes around.
Important note by the way (actually thinking of buying these now!) these have been replaced by the CX 550 Style II. Practically the same thing. I was wondering why I was having so much trouble finding these on Amazon
Great review man. I am in the market for a new pair of earphones. But I read that while these are nice earphones for under 100 dollars that the cord is very long. I hate long cords and having to stuff them in your packets its annoying.
Like I said before great review but I think I am going to pass on these. Still haven't found anything to discourage me from buying Skull Candy Full Metal Jackets
I bought the FMJ's about 9 months ago, and have just replaced them with the cx550's (the new version of these). The Sennheiser buds have very detailed tones, whereas the FMJ's sound washed out by the amount of low end (bass) present, with no detail higher up the range. I would think twice about buying the FMJ's.
you know, I've always been a fan of Sennheiser's products, but based on my experience so far with a few other brands of earphones, I'm not too keen on in-ears as they don't seem to stay in my ears, and when they do they're very uncomfortable to wear... oh well, excellent review nonetheless, these earphones look very nice, and with a top-quality brand name like Sennheiser behind them, I'm sure the sound quality is just as good as you said.
Along with the noise reduction, i found that the silicon inserts work WAY better at staying in the ear, with movement. I bought a pair of these, and they are hands down the best pair of earphones that ive ever bought. Thanks for the review Dave.
I have to use the big cushions for these as they don't go in as deep as the Cx 300s

The buzzing sound does not seem right. Might be worth returning them to your retailer and get them swapped out.

I notice that too. Its a buzzing, even when the audio is playing. And it happened even after i returned and got another pair of earphones.
