Francis Crick discovered the double helix of DNA on an acid trip and later help map it ! This is perhaps the greatest discovery since the wheel and it was under the influence . It is time we change the perception of who uses . Known pot smokers - Thomas Jefferson ,Bill Clinton , Carl Sagan (physicist and astronomer ) Reggie Miller , George Bush , Sean Penn , Allen Ginsberg ,and Dave Matthews . Illegal drugs are used by virtually everyone . The law is wrong .
Hear about people whom die when big things (such as comets) happen, because they waited for all their lives for it to happen, then when it did.. they felt satisfied and died..
If drugs don't become legal any time SOON.. I think that would be my big event..
I just talked to my family about legalizing weed and to paraphrase what they responded with, they basically said that big corporations would control our lives with drugs that they sell. Ironically, by keeping it illegal they're doing what they've said they're against.
When I tried to talk to my sister about the injustice of the war on drugs she broke down crying and said she was worried about the direction my life was headed. She said I couldn't possibly be this passionate about the subject without being addicted. This is the problem I face. Every time I try to have a rational debate with someone this kind of thing happens. They just assume that I want drugs legal cuz I want to get high. It never occurs to them that I can get high if I want anyway. sigh.
What is worse in the long run, a child making a childhood mistake and getting caught by mom/dad or being caught by the cops and all that it entails? I'm beginning to think we should focus on educating parents on how bad it will be for their child if he/she gets popped by the cops. It's one thing for a politician to be contacted by an activist. It's quite another for them to be contacted by a concerned parent.
As I understand it parents were convinced that a prohibition on marijuan would protect their kids from the dangers of the world so they pleaded for the school/government to protect their children from the demon weed. It seems that only recently large groups of parents now want to protect their kids from everything that goes along with the school/government protecting their children from marijuana.
I think the parents would have an easier time explaining why/why not the child should/shouldn't do drugs when (not if...) it becomes legal. As it is, kids can easily get marijuana, today, where it's illegal. If it were controlled and sold in drug stores like tobacco or alcohol, and have a minimum age to use, 18+, children would have a much harder time obtaining it, until they were old enough to understand what it does.
What it really boils down to is choice. You choose what to put in your body.
please don't just sit around and LISTEN to OTHER ppl take action for legalization of cannabis. TAKE ACTION YOURSELF!support mpp dot org they help litigate med cannabis state by state, your donation helps this! If anyone is seroius about fighting the war , you should DONATE to mpp dot org and Stopthedrugwar dot org, these guys are making it so, with yur help.
Hello good people. Please dont get me wrong when I say this....but NORML does not seem to be getting the job done.30+ years and nothing. How long did alcohol prohibition last??Is NORML gragging their feet to reep the merch profit??So good people do your homework and dont let anything spoon feed you second hand info.NORML has an agenda but is it Marijuana Reform or under the table pay offs from the powers that be......... WE KNOW PEOPLE DONATE SO WHERE IS THE PROGRESS
I agree NORML isnt on the top as far as Marijuana REFORM>however mpp dot org and Stopthedrugwar dot org , americans for safe access dot com. What are you expecting cannabis to be legal overnight? It starts at grassroots , and supporting the organizations that have the integrity is the only way it's going to get doen , unless the prez sez so. its about educating the mainstream and the senators.
Unfortunately there seems to be a lot of ego involved. The various groups like norml would be a far more powerful force if they could get over themselves and join together. The NRA has almost 4,000,000 members and NORML has, I think, 30,000. Guess which lobby is effective and which is not.
A fabulous presentation ! Great thanks to Ethan Nadelmann for making this piece and to the production crew from Oakland County Norml, Greg and Mikey for that opportunity to hear and see America's Leading anti-prohibition activist.

A good start is to elect Ron Paul in 2008. We could do in a few years what otherwise might take decades to acheive.
It's a chance of a lifetime (I'm gettin old), don't let this one slip by.
RON PAUL 2008!

yeah, it IS about the right to touch yourself without being punished, and it IS necessary for the pot smokers to rise up and say, "yeah, i do it too."
but, strangely enough, with every pasing year it becomes even MORE dangerous to do so.
