  • @davidzais So Dave.....what do you like more about the 11 rack vs the HD? Just curious...a lot of guys like the 11....and wondering if it sounds better or what. The HD has amazing resolution.....does the 11 sound better or were you just wanting a recording interface with pro tools? Thanks for all you're advice man. Very much appreciate it!

  • @iamthemercury You know, the jury is still out on whether i like it better or not. It is definately a very nice piece of gear. I really liked the HD but i dont know how to describe it, it just had this "sizzle" sound to the distortion if that makes sense. The eleven rack sounds very natural. Im still trying to dial in the one favorite tone, but the more i use it the more i like it.

  • @davidzais Yeah...i know what you mean about the sizzle on the Pod HD. Sounds killer. Are you playing through an amp on this video...or are direct into the cpu? Sounds awesome how ever you have it. I cant get that chunkiness that you have going...even with your patch. I have not messed with parameters yet though. Gonna keep playing with it....finally got that stretch of 6 frets!! Good lord man.....Warren wanted to be sure not everyone could play his stuff

  • bitchen lesson bro thanks for sharing, most that know this awesome riff are fuckig dick,s and wont post, at least you,re a rightous dude, u fucking rule . period

  • What guitar is that? looks and sounds great

  • @Voddgreen Its a custom built warmoth strat, and thanks

  • This was awesome

  • About time with the right fingering! Thank You!!! Great tone :^)

  • Excellent heavy tone, man. Dig it.

  • Been playing it wrong for 25 years, including countless times live. Oops.

  • lmL rock on dood!!

  • @wierdeyedrops0365 lmL? Never seen that one before

  • @davidzais I think it's supposed to be a rock hand, the first l being the pinky and the m being the two nuckles and the last l being the index and the thumb

  • @CoDisafishy knuckles*

  • awesome lesson just keep it coming cos im just learning how to play at my old age lolol........Blessing too yah

  • Dude, your awesome! You actually taught me how to play it, thanks man!

  • hey sworth290, I don't see you helping out so stop talking Shit........

  • man, you got a "Troll" infestation! lol Thanks for the lesson

  • @bigjimmyplays Ok, i have to admit, i have no idea what that comment means but thanks for leaving it ;)

  • @davidzais In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. Like some dude with ZERO uploads talking trash about the way you play, or teach. Trouble makers.

  • @bigjimmyplays Ahhh, ok, im with ya now. Thanks!

  • Awesome job, dead on ... thanks so much for putting this up and nailing the correct fingering

  • @inkyblck Thanks for the kind words, glad it was helpful

  • Pretty much the sickest riff from the entire 'hair' era.

    Way to nail it \,,/

  • Thanks dude! I've played this wrong forever. After watching yours I watched it live and you got it. It's much more metal the way you play it.

  • My amp is totally clean, all the distortion is from the pod

    Thanks,

    David

  • @davidzais Awesome job on the intro lesson...it helped me a ton. I have a line 6 spider 3 amp...can you tell me what the name of the setting was you used on your pod? I might have it preloaded already. Thanks

  • Whats your amp settings for this song?

  • Very cool. Thanks for taking the time.Great playing and great tone.

  • Great Job could you do any more RATT like wanted man , way cool jr or round and round?

  • Excellent! Between this and your solo breakdown I will have little problem playing this! If you are not making money off your instructional skills you REALLY need to consider it, because you are a very good teacher and those are damn hard to find!

  • Is there a delay pedal used in this song?

  • Barring from the 5th reaching up to the 10th? I've got big hands and can't even make that stretch LOL

  • @usta4070

Yeah, took me a while, but you'll get it. You dont completely have to bar if its easier just keep your first finger on the d string on the 5th fret. Also, DON'T OVER DO IT. If your hand starts to hurt, stop and give it a rest. Good luck

    David

  • @davidzais Thanks for the help. I'm an old geezer playing 30 years now by ear and play EVH solos note for note but learned wrong and can't do the simple stuff that 3 year players can, in terms of simple rhythm chords. Took me two years to unlearn doing all down strokes. Didn't even learn a 1-4-5 loius louis chord progression until last week but I can play the beat it solo perfectly. LOL. Keep rocking!

  • @usta4070 Lol, I hate to break it to you but you DON'T have big hands if you can't do that. But then again I can palm a basketball at only 6'1.

  • @usta4070 I've got nerve damage from cutting all the tendons in my hand and I can play this.It ain't that hard.Just slowiy build up to that stretch.

  • Bravo! I've never seen anyone else play this correctly before. Though it isn't very difficult, they almost always drop the power chord structure and they don't use drop D tuning. One of my favorite Ratt songs but for some reason I've never bothered to learn the solo. I think I will be using your video for that since it is perfect. Great job bro.

  • @GlassJoeBMF Thanks very much and I hope it is helpful

    Regards,

    David

  • i know why we never see his face... its actually warren himself!!! lol youd think so the way this sounds, awesome job man

  • @ajbRATTnROLL

you made my day with that one. Thanks for the compliment

  • Well, the short answer is it depends :) My guitar is a hardtail so there is no floating bridge. So when i lower the E string it doesn't affect the other strings. If you have a floyd type trem, then you are reducing the tension on the springs which will change the angle of the bridge to the neck, and cause all the other strings to go out of tune as well as many other issues. I know there is a special piece for a floyd called a D-Tuna for this purpose but ive never used one, Hope that helps.

    David

  • @davidzais

After about 8 yrs since the last time I played

that A string 5th fret to G string 10th fret stretch is a bit painful, but

you've inspired me to find time to play.

Well, that and I've forgotten how much I love playin 80s rock/metal.

    Rock On Brotha!!

  • can you lower the E string down to a D on any guitar or does it have to be intonated to that? I was always taught that if you tune down the whole guitar has to be intonated to that tunning............ for example I can't just get my Charvel and tune it down a step or a half-step...... the intonation has to be changed for that.

  • @nar6307 You don't have to re-intonate.If you have an original type Floyd Rose there is in fact a nifty gadget called an EVH D-Tuna that lets you switch instantly between standard and Drop-D tuning. It costs around USD$50 and is a great little invention.I've just spent the last hour noodling with mine.It won't work with Ibanez and other low profile Floyd Rose copies unfortunately. There are plenty on videos of it on youtube,Check it out.

  • hi and thanks for the kind words, the amp is a fender deville 2X12 on the clean chanel. All the distortion in from the pod HD500

    --David

  • What amp are you using btw?

  • Wow, you did a great job here! Not only is your playing really good but you teach the riff in a great way. Thanks for this!

  • would love to hear you do a lesson for Ratt's Way Cool Jr.

  • Great lesson,,,,I've been waiting for this for a long time
