Hi, I have Ivory 2 and while I like it I cant seem to get it to sound as good as you have. Are you using a preset steinway or have you messed about with the settings at all? I also saw Jordan Rudess playing with it and it sounded nicer than mine so it must be how I have it set up. I have a good set of headphones and speakers and a high end keyboard so I know its not them. It does sound good just not this good.
@stocksam I love the part between 4:53 and 5:07! Leaves me so wondering where it is from, or did you improvise that there? :D Would love to hear more!
This is the best sounding, recorded, & played demo of the Ivory Grand II Steinway on YouTube... actually think it demonstrates the potential of what this sampled piano can do, better than the demos at Synthogy. I really enjoyed your playing, nice chordal changes, improv ideas & touch ( demonstrating the extreme dynamic ranges of this piano ). Piano samples & physical modeled pianos are very subjective to each individual, but the Steinway from Ivory II is without doubt IMHO, the closest thing to
This is great!! I really enjoyed watching and listening to your music. You sound kind of like Kapustin and kind of like Ellington, but original in your own way!
I've a question about ivory... it's needed a foot peadal in order to have the sustain for every note or there is an option with the software or something? Because I'm thinking of buying it but I don't have a pedal, just my old keyboard...
It sounds delicious! hehe! I got one question man. Hope you can help me. When you have a synthetizer. and conect it to the mac. when you play your vst. does it come out of your piano or does it come out from the daw? and btw. is that cubase? would you recommend it over Logic pro? sorry for my questions. But I'm a beginner :3
bravo, bello il gusto, bella l'impostazione ,buona la tecnica, buona e molto pulita la registrazione, ottimo il plugin e ottima risposta su tastiera pesata. complimenti
Stocksam.... I bow down to you man... You're an awesome player and I'd love to check out some of those voicings... I studied jazz piano at York U in Toronto...even had Oscar sit next to me in class! (yes, Peterson!). I'd really appreciate it if you would send me the MIDI file... I also have Ivory 2 with a Yamaha CP-1 and amazing monitors (ADAM). Maybe I could exchange the favor with something else... Cheers!
I also have synthology ivory and mine doesnt sound not even hald as dynamic as yours. I mean mine sounds like a drum machine trying to emulate real playing. I have a 61 semi-weighted keys. Does volume play a huge factor in dynamic range? tips? any help is greatly apreciated.
Man can u tell me what keyboard is that and what kind of hardware or audio interface are u using? Cause I have Ivory here but I cant run smooth like that!

the piano has a nasal and biting sound to it, not like the smooth and buttery sound of real Steinways. I think Ivory II is a epic fail here, especially since it requires a dongle, most people are better off with Logic's built in pianos - which sound excellent by the way.
I like the nasal tone and the bitting - not for all kinds of music of course. But for a improvising singing and expressive right hand it is much better than the QL-Pianos for example.
I don't think, that synthogy made a new recording, the update is just a kind of improving the software, building layers between the already given ones, making resonances and pedal noises etc.
@jprincehouston I can't believe you would say that Logic's built in pianos are better than this. Logic's pianos are no where near the detail this piano has. Perhaps you are listening with poor speakers or just flat out want to justify not spending the money for a better 3rd party software (which is understandable). Logic's included content is good, but definitely not a match for most 3rd party software out there.
:) Just kidding, but your comment is kind of outlandish. Ivory compared to Logic's pianos is like comparing a Ferrari to a Geo Metro. If you've ever actually played a real Steinway piano before (I'm a classically-trained pianist, and have played Steinways, Bosendorfers, $250,000 Bechsteins, etc.), you would see that Ivory actually sounds pretty darn-close to the real thing. I've had Ivory for over a year now, and I love it! :)
Thank you very much for keeping posting this videos; I'm always happy and entusiastic about watching your new ones, you're an inspiration and a motivation for me to keep studying and triying to develop my own approach.
Please keep recording and sharing. :)
About this two videos, I only could recognize Jarrett and Bill Evans, but you emulate their style very well, the recognition was immediate.
How do you find your Numa?

Great piano and pianist.
Only complaint is the repetition @5:30 that doesn't sound too real.

Watch 'Part II', where I play it more softly.
