the way I see it "Healthcare on someone elses dime" is not theft because you sign a contract for belonging to the country. Before people got lead poisoning from canned goods, employee's died in fires, and quite a few disputes where solved with tar and feathers... Working 40hr/weeks my wife and I combined make about 17k/yr, and benefits from either of our work takes about 1/3 of that. Do what you must to survive, but it sounds to me like your life is fine. Do what you must to survive, I'm doing the same.

As for your point about non-violence... As long as there is instability there will be conflict. Without the United States as the perpetual Big Brother of every 'Little man' out there, the world would go into chaos. North Korea would invade South Korea, China would absorb Taiwan, Israel would be decimated, Africans would go hungry, etc. It is our obligation as the world's Super Power to invest in our military to retain the status quo. A reduction in Military spending would be possible, though.
Additionally, it would make the US bankrupt, and add an even bigger weight for the middle/upper classes to carry. Taxes would have to be raised, and people would be outraged because; "FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE WE NEED TO PAY HIGHER TAXES? WHY CANT THE GOVERNMENT PAY FOR IT?" Because to get something you have to give up something (e.g Socialism). Your cause is good in theory, but it wont ever happen. How would the United States afford Universal Healthcare? Socialized Medicine does not work for large countries like the United States because the people will inevitably abuse it. Look up France for example, the people there abuse the system horridly. For every little cut/scratch an ambulance has to be called, and whether it be an emergency or not billions upon billions are lost on false alarms (Which has by extension contributed to their deficit). Multiply that tenfold and that is U.H in the US.

Before people got lead poisoning from canned goods, employee's died in fires, and quite a few disputes where solved with tar and feathers... Working 40hr/weeks my wife and I combined make about 17k/yr, and benefits from either of our work takes about 1/3 of that. Do what you must to survive, but it sounds to me like your life is fine. Do what you must to survive, I'm doing the same.

I work as hard as anyone else. If I didn't work or my type of work didn't exist people would have no one to call for help if their pet needed medical help in the middle of the night or if someone needed an emerg plumber. As for your point about non-violence... As long as there is instability there will be conflict. Without the United States as the perpetual Big Brother of every 'Little man' out there, the world would go into chaos. North Korea would invade South Korea, China would absorb Taiwan, Israel would be decimated, Africans would go hungry, etc. It is our obligation as the world's Super Power to invest in our military to retain the status quo. A reduction in Military spending would be possible, though.

Taxes would have to be raised, and people would be outraged because; "FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE WE NEED TO PAY HIGHER TAXES? WHY CANT THE GOVERNMENT PAY FOR IT?" Because to get something you have to give up something (e.g Socialism). Your cause is good in theory, but it wont ever happen. How would the United States afford Universal Healthcare? Socialized Medicine does not work for large countries like the United States because the people will inevitably abuse it. Look up France for example, the people there abuse the system horridly. For every little cut/scratch an ambulance has to be called, and whether it be an emergency or not billions upon billions are lost on false alarms (Which has by extension contributed to their deficit). Multiply that tenfold and that is U.H in the US.

Studies show that if for profit health care insurance companies were eliminated and Medicare was expanded to cover the entire U.S. population, the total cost of all healthcare would go down. So even though the government was the new provider, the average tax cost per person would be less than the former average cost paid to the for profit insurance companies.
In other words, SOCIALIZED HEALTH CARE WOULD SAVE YOU MONEY!!!

What "studies" do you cite? None. This progressive bullshit is totally insane. Free markets have proven to raise the cost of healthcare due to their profit margin. It is an easily verified fact that every other industrialized country has socialized healthcare with a lower cost and higher life expectancy than the US

The Police, Fire Department, public roads, and military are all publicly owned and controlled co-operatively by our federal, state and local governments. Therefore, they are socialistic.
