  • This is so fucking weird.

  • PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIN!!!!

  • Many men have tried. They tried and failed?

    THEY TRIED AND DIED!!!!

  • THE PAIN!

  • When I'm at the dentist getting work done, I always say to myself "I must not fear. Fear is the mind killer."

It helps. I always think of my hand being in the box.

  • This is maybe the best scene from the movie -- well done and acted. It also shows the big differences between the movie Dune and the Scifi Mini-series Dune. Whereas this has a lot of zing and drama the equivalent from the Mini-series was comparatively stale. Still, the mini-series was at least FAR more coherent (and more loyal to the original book). Wish we could have the mini-series again, but done with actors this good and as good of direction.

  • Not all specimens of Homo sapiens are Humans, Frank Herbert understood.

  • "I must no fear"

  • srr i cant rezist:D....it looks like the box got no secound wall and he got hand in her vagina:D...

  • La Letanía del Miedo, increíble.

  • SusanoRipper: You have misunderstood. The Reverend Mother tells Paul that the gom jabbar kills only animals. What she means is that those who have failed the test and died did so because they *behaved* like animals. To survive the test, Paul must use his human mind to overcome the animal impulse to flee from that which hurts and frightens him. If he can't do this, Mohiam will stab him and he *will* die.

  • it is weird. .. in the book is info about gom dżabaar - it kills only not-humans. So why young paul was scared ??

  • Awesome scene. I love this movie. It compliments the book so well.

  • litany against fear... mohiam, paul... great scene. 10/10.

  • I saw this move when I was 12. Months later, I had surgery and experienced anesthesia awareness. This scene played through my mind while I experienced the horrifying agony of abdominal surgery while in a state of conscious paralysis.

I had many opportunities to "let go" during that terrible event. This scene and, particularly, the words "Your awareness may be powerful enough to control your instincts", gave me power to avoid succumbing to what was then a very welcome state of non-being.

  • @ravendmytryk so how long until you lead a jihad against anesthesiologists?
