A Space Marine has CENTURIES of combat experience, vastly superior augmentations, superior armor and superior weaponry. I mean, for fuck's sake, a Marine's standard PISTOL fires .75 caliber self-propelled armor-piercing mass-reactive explosive missiles that turn a man into a red mist with a single shot.

The only way a Spartan can win is use alien tech, something a Marine would never do, and make hit and run attacks. A marine would usually charge the enemy killing thousands and then get killed himself. Completely different stiles of warfare.

Ultra Marines are the ultimate space marines... the blood ravens may have been the most recent chapter in their games but they also needed larger squads while a ultra marine only needs his left and right hand with his finger on the trigger.

Not to bring a stupid theory, but I always thought that warhammer 40k deserve some peace. I mean for 10k years humanity has been at constant war when there is no hope but war and the emperor. So I thought that if ever Horus revives (I know this is stupid but bear with me) and becomes the emperor, will he be likely to bring changes in order and law to bring peace for example make Tau and Eldar join forces with Imperium. Sorry for the hardcore fans but I so want the 40k humanity to have peace.
Unfortunately, If Horus were ever to be revived and win his battle against the Imperium. All the worlds of humanity would be sacrificial grounds for the forces of Chaos and pretty much all of humanity would be either enslaved by daemons or sacrificed to the Chaos gods, thus annihilating mankind.
It would be nice with peace, but with how the lore is setup, humanity is so Xenophobic that they'll never accept alliances with other alien species.

this game looks cool and all its just that the whole idea of space marines sounds too damb similar to halo spartans. The only difference is that they only added extra organs, in halo the drugs did wut the exrta organs did. So they kinda copied Bungie in a way.
They aren't though... That's just the new fluff for them cos of Matt ward, I mean, look at the founding legions, the include space vikings, space vampires, terror shock troopers, stealth fighters, covert ops... This game will be awesome don't get me wrong, but I think it would be so much better with one of the other chapters, space wolves or Salamanders. A chapter with a bit more personality.
@MinigamesUK Well, no one likes Ward's Ultramarines. I played them for a good eight years or so until the partially shaved ape known as Matt Ward turned them into a bad joke. They were a good chapter back then.
I think it's cos they are the GW banner boys, people don't like them cos they get all the attention in the new book and lets face it, we are only one step away from codex Ultramarines again. The old book encouraged you to make your own chapter and gave you rules to do it, now we are told every chapter is either trying to be the ultramarines, is chaos, or is dying out God help Black Templars as that is what he is writing currently). I think the only book he ruined more was Grey Knight

I do agree with most of your comments involving why Games Workshop let him do what he did though. Perhaps they thought it would help them get more cash out of people buying special characters and forge world iconography.
All the rumours point to the necrons becoming horrible in terms of rules as well, living metal fast skimmers etc. But the thing I hate more than anything is his fluff. I mean, take blood angels, lets give em deep striking land raiders, fair enough it's a quirky rules thing which is not too overpowered, now justify it. Right, they push them out of thunderhawks. What!? Why hasn't any other chapter tried that then? don't get me started on hiding planets in the warp/turning of the throne
True enough, but I think general consensus amongst players is that the Ultramarines are one of the least liked chapters by people who have read any of the fluff. That's how it is here in central London at least.

@IronSkull43 They're not exactly "allowed" too. They're too damned spread out in the hundreds of crusades they've been in it's impossible to keep their number. The Templars are under the close watch of the Inquisition, since the Templars most likely outnumber a good portion of Adeptus Astartes Chapters combined. Though, Templars are pretty damned fanatical so I don't think they'll go Chaos any time soon
@IronSkull43 1000 members is a rough estimate, Astartes die get replaced ete not at a steady rate. Some chapters like the space wolfs have more. others like the flesh tearers have only 4 battle companys.

For the gene seed to work, the candidates need to be exceptional examples of the Human species with the right sort of mind to withstand the psychoconditioning AND young enough to have these modifications take effect during the puberty stage in order to get the highest chance of sucess. Also, some Chapters who recruit from Death Worlds will normally ask you to slay the local Dragon/Wyrm/Terrorising Beast equivalent.
@SinDawg030 erm tell that to the Blood ravens, Their Chapter have young initiates from Distant planets, Both Avitus and Thaddeus were recruited at adult stage. Thaddeus was a meridian city gang leader,he got hold of Davian Thule's attention and his will and determination resolve impressed Thule enough.

First you have to spend years training and being augmented by the apothecaries then you have to prove yourself in the Scout Company if you survive training (in Chapters that adhere to the Codex Astartes) which can take years. Anyway, if Thaddeus was recruited as an adult then Relic got their fluff wrong. I've read in White Dwarf and in the Space Marine Codex that they recruit the young for greater sucess.

@cutiepe2ce "Commando Strike Force" doesn't even cover it. The Imperium's equivalent of such a thing would be Inquisitorial or Imperial Guard Stormtroopers or Cadian Kasrkin. Space Marines inhabit a whole different plane of warfare where tanks, titans and daemons are the playthings of thirsting gods.

@Atlashon Fenix for sure. Kratos belongs to Chaos. Hell, when I think about it Angron, Primarch of the World Eaters, is very similar to Kratos. That legion was one of the first to follow Horus. They were technically Space Marines though.

this game looks cool and all its just that the whole idea of space marines sounds too damb similar to halo spartans. The only difference is that they only added extra organs, in halo the drugs did wut the exrta organs did. So they kinda copied Bungie in a way.

They aren't though... That's just the new fluff for them cos of Matt ward, I mean, look at the founding legions, the include space vikings, space vampires, terror shock troopers, stealth fighters, covert ops... This game will be awesome don't get me wrong, but I think it would be so much better with one of the other chapters, space wolves or Salamanders. A chapter with a bit more personality.

@MinigamesUK Well, no one likes Ward's Ultramarines. I played them for a good eight years or so until the partially shaved ape known as Matt Ward turned them into a bad joke. They were a good chapter back then.

I think it's cos they are the GW banner boys, people don't like them cos they get all the attention in the new book and lets face it, we are only one step away from codex Ultramarines again. The old book encouraged you to make your own chapter and gave you rules to do it, now we are told every chapter is either trying to be the ultramarines, is chaos, or is dying out God help Black Templars as that is what he is writing currently). I think the only book he ruined more was Grey Knight

@MinigamesUK Actually it's worse than you know. He's working on Necrons, the things we've seen thus far seem to suggest they've been turned from an evil force of life hating robots into heroic anti-Warp space police who overthrew the C'Tan.
I do agree with most of your comments involving why Games Workshop let him do what he did though. Perhaps they thought it would help them get more cash out of people buying special characters and forge world iconography.

All the rumours point to the necrons becoming horrible in terms of rules as well, living metal fast skimmers etc. But the thing I hate more than anything is his fluff. I mean, take blood angels, lets give em deep striking land raiders, fair enough it's a quirky rules thing which is not too overpowered, now justify it. Right, they push them out of thunderhawks. What!? Why hasn't any other chapter tried that then? don't get me started on hiding planets in the warp/turning of the throne

@IronSkull43 They're not exactly "allowed" too. They're too damned spread out in the hundreds of crusades they've been in it's impossible to keep their number. The Templars are under the close watch of the Inquisition, since the Templars most likely outnumber a good portion of Adeptus Astartes Chapters combined. Though, Templars are pretty damned fanatical so I don't think they'll go Chaos any time soon

@IronSkull43 1000 members is a rough estimate, Astartes die get replaced ete not at a steady rate. Some chapters like the space wolfs have more. others like the flesh tearers have only 4 battle companys.

@cutiepe2ce Too bad Space Marines recruit 10 year olds and prebuescants in order to implant the gene seed and psychocontitioning drugs properly. To become a Space Marine, you need to be the mightiest warrior on a planet, usually a Death World (carnivorous trees) or a Hive World (Detroit turned up to 11 and multiplied by 1000 million), do some impossible deed or trial to get the attention of the Chaplains and then survive the brutal training that would kill a normal man. As a child mind you.

@cutiepe2ce My point is that adults can't become Space Marines. For the gene seed to work, the candidates need to be exceptional examples of the Human species with the right sort of mind to withstand the psychoconditioning AND young enough to have these modifications take effect during the puberty stage in order to get the highest chance of sucess. Also, some Chapters who recruit from Death Worlds will normally ask you to slay the local Dragon/Wyrm/Terrorising Beast equivalent.

Thaddeus was a meridian city gang leader,he got hold of Davian Thule's attention and his will and determination resolve impressed Thule enough.

@cutiepe2ce The process of becoming a Space Marine takes many years. First you have to spend years training and being augmented by the apothecaries then you have to prove yourself in the Scout Company if you survive training (in Chapters that adhere to the Codex Astartes) which can take years. Anyway, if Thaddeus was recruited as an adult then Relic got their fluff wrong. I've read in White Dwarf and in the Space Marine Codex that they recruit the young for greater sucess.

@SinDawg030 yup like the Upcoming Spess marinez, You're captain titus a season experienced ultramsurf with Another vet and a rookie. Since SM are given additional organs and able to sleep 4 hours a day and go without sleep for 3-4 weeks(food included). Tha'ts pretty bad-arse

@cutiepe2ce "Commando Strike Force" doesn't even cover it. The Imperium's equivalent of such a thing would be Inquisitorial or Imperial Guard Stormtroopers or Cadian Kasrkin. Space Marines inhabit a whole different plane of warfare where tanks, titans and daemons are the playthings of thirsting gods.

It takes a strong force indeed to withstand the might Imperial Guard and a stronger one still to be able to weather the God Men of the Astartes but let it be forever known that no mark escapes the Officio Assassinorum alive.

@Atlashon Fenix for sure. Kratos belongs to Chaos. Hell, when I think about it Angron, Primarch of the World Eaters, is very similar to Kratos. That legion was one of the first to follow Horus. They were technically Space Marines though.
