There are lots of US anti-Vietnam war films, starting with Apocolypse Now (where Colonel Kurtz (ahem) gets his head cut off - in a positive way). I'm sure you know about these films but you just prove how difficult it is to take such comments from Germans seriously.
I think it's totally wrong to make a political issue out of that. It is an exploitation-flick just to entertain. Exploitation has to play gleefully with controversial stuff, it's part of the fun. OK, if someone wishes to be violent, then ok, but we must make sure that the violence will not be sprad among people who dont wish to be violent. Thus all movies with violence should be only after 11pm and also after 21 years old and only for psychologically balanced people. there should be list of people who cannot join any violent movie in any cinema, decided by psychiatrists, cos... it is dangerous. His movies are master pieces, and not all of his films are commercialized. If you have an eye for odd art you my friend would know that his work is art. I studie art now for a while... And i'm not saying i know everything about it, no i don't. Clearly you're not opening your mind far enough too see that Tarantino is a genius.
One of the best film directors deserves recognission for his work, even if it is the mainstream society that awards him all his prizes.

Well, I study the history of art, so tell me please something about it ;) :D yes, some people consider Tarantino's movies as art and I could say they MIGHT be right to say that. he is not ordinary and usual artist and yes, some people also like it. But i dont like it. I dont say he is not a genius, I only say that, objectively, there is a lot of polemic WHO is genius when we talk aboue famous directors... It is matter of dispute... its subjective... I personally DONT consider him to be a genius

I think it's totally wrong to make a political issue out of that. It is an exploitation-flick just to entertain. Exploitation has to play gleefully with controversial stuff, it's part of the fun. But I knew that these kind of stupid debates would arise. Some Germans who are pissed and others also taking it way too serious as if this is a history-lesson. IT'S A MOVIE!
