  • use the right size wrench or ratchet socket for sake of everyone else

  • My cv aint that hard 2 change oil on

  • @kyaschultz all crowns are the same 03 up , and the 02 back cars are actually harder , speaking 4.6L cars ...

  • You can access the Oil Filter by opening the hood and looking straight down LOL!!!!!! You don't need to get under the car to get the off LOL!!!!

  • @DavidLeonFeild try it then , oil everywhere , and very hard to get it out of there , let me guess you can drain the oil from the top too right ?

  • How do you get the engine oil cooler hoses off a 2002 CVPI? Thanks

  • @ysgeye1 well I am going to point you to the info , the write up is good , and you will be pleased with this site crownvic(dot)net search it on there , you will find more info that you ever will need to know there :) hope you get it taken care of , don't force them as word of caution ...

  • Never hurts to check level before you start engine. Once I poured three quarts into the engine before I realized I hadn't put drain plug back in. Oh well.

  • @birdwing98 that may be a good point , but I seem to take care to do such things like put the drain plug back in , I myself would not make such a mistake ...

  • Glad I stumbled across this vid. I'm just about to change the oil on my 03 Interceptor and that filter location probably would have pissed me off. Anyway, have you needed to replace the LCM yet? My headlights started working only when they wanted to and I replaced the switch thinking that was the problem but it wasnt. So I took it to the Sheriff's maintenance barn here because thats where the car came from and the mechanic told me its very common with these. Not cheap either.

  • @Jayhoyt32 I have replaced them before , but to the best of my knowledge mine still has the original in it , they way to get one is if you have a pull-a-part in your area hit one of those up for one when they ask you what it is at the checkout , tell them a radio preamp , you can get it for 10 bucks that way lol if you own up what it is they want 50 for them , several other fords used them other than vics too google it for a list ...

  • @towrecker Great advice. When I looked them up I did notice that it looked alot like a Ford factory amp. Thanks!

  • @Jayhoyt32 nice to have friends in low places eh ? lol be sure to sub , you might find my vids useful , also I have another channel "beltstowing" there are many auto related , and several vic related videos on both channels ...

  • you forgot to show us you filling up with oil after you put the drain plug back in.. but good video anyway!

  • @jjlwis well if your project it to change the oil , and you don't know to put oil back in it I pity the fool !

  • I love this video, I will now be changing my own oil :))))

  • @sceeta23 that was my plan , glad it helped !

  • Hey big tip take out the plug before you take of the filter it will be alot less mess haha lol

  • @Mcwes12 explain that logic , the filter has nothing to do with the oil pan ...

  • @towrecker I dunno lol i know it helps me out alot because i work on chevys i thought it would do the same for ford. My bad for question your logic.

  • @Mcwes12 I have never seen a car that has ever been made that the oil from the oil pan would run out of the filter housing if you removed it , unless you started it without the filter on it ...

  • @towrecker Nah i've never started a car with no oil in it. i always took out the oil pan drain screw and let it drain for 10 mins and took of the oil filter and wasnt as much oil then it would be full of oil.

  • @towrecker on my jeep, i noticed that if you drain the pan first, it seems like less oil comes out the filter when you take it off...no huge difference though

  • @Mcwes12 the filter is above the pan , gravity is gravity , it can't actually make any difference at all ...

  • why do you pour 6.5 quarts while the manual stated that the oil capacity is 6 quarts = 5.7L ?

  • @yebu123 oil capacity is 6 quarts , the filter is not included in that , it holds 1/2 qt , that makes the total oil change 6.5qts

  • @yebu123 5.7??? this is a ford , thats a 4.6

  • @towrecker

the manual stated that the engine oil refill capacity is 5.7L even though FORD recommend replacing the oil filter in every oil change.

4.6L is the engine capacity which is the displacement of oil needed to fill all cylinders.

and thanks for the video, this is the first time i replace the engine oil by myself

  • @yebu123 you are in canada right ? you threw me a loop with the liters lol , sorry it's all confusing trying to convert everything to under stand , please don't beat me with that lug wrench ha ha ha

  • nice and simple, step by step. preciate it brother

  • @aychmorgan21 I tried :)

  • the oil filter is not hard to remove, messy yes. all you need to do is turn the wheels to the left, and the filter will come right out, second if you buy a phram filter with the grip tape, you can use your hands. and it wont leak when you hand tighten it. i have an 02 crown vic P71 and i change my own oil, and its 5 qts of oil check your manuel.

  • cresent wrench on the drain plug.. big no no

  • @2012mchammer if you know how to use one , and are not trying to tighten it to 100ft lbs of torque , there is no harm in using one , the common man looking to change his own oil , may not own many tools , but almost everyone owns a cresent wrench , and this video was directed to those people that need to save the $ and do it at home , with there limited tools

  • Uhh ... always drain the oil before you remove the filter.

  • @rrevved it makes not one bit of difference the oil stays in the filter , and it mounts sideways , also it is above the pan , so tell me the point in that comment , I don't get it !

  • Love your videos, keep up the good work bud.

  • @Deyo99 thanks

  • would you care to do a throttle postion sensor on an 2000 or newer crown victoria p71 i need to replace mine and am not sure of where it is and how to do it my chitlons doesnt show that it would be greatly apriciated

  • @cubpak89 watch my video on how to clean a throttle body , at about 2:45 into it , you can see it , it bolts to the side of the throttle body at the back , the throttle cable hooks on the front , and it on the back side of the shaft , it is a simple unbolt , unplug , and pull off very simple , if you can't figure it out I can make a video on it , but it will be a few days , and I bet you need to do it say now lol

  • @towrecker thanks and yes it keeps thriwing the code throttle sensor high input lol

  • @cubpak89 check for corroded conections at the plug on it , if not and look good , replace it ...

  • @joshua76az I have done it that way , but I always get oil everywhere lol , there really isn't a good way to get at these lol

  • Hi, Again could you do a video of this problem like a video going under neath the vehicle. Thank you

  • @dogman0090 well I could show the cooler yes , but for the actual issue mine doesn't leak , and I hope it stays that way lol

  • Is there such a thing called a oil cooler filter?

  • @dogman0090 nope , there is a such of thing called an oil filter adapter , that fed the oil cooler in the early models , and in G.M. cars , as for your issue with the leak , most of the time it is the hoses , or the seals where they attach to the cooler ...

  • Hi.I have a 05 crown victoria which has a oil leak, I was wondering could you help me out what the part is called, Well first of all it leaks under the radiator ,It's a long tube looking like that which is connected to two tubes. The two tubes don't leak just the long tube looking like thing.Thank you for your help

  • @dogman0090 that is the engine oil cooler , it is what they call oil to water cooling , thats something easy to find in a salvage yard , they are just a double wall tube , they do come apart too look it over to see if it is cracked or what ...

  • Get yourself the right size socket for that drain plug, instead of using that mexican socket set!

Good narration, and good camera work too!

  • @MrMaypole14 it's less mess with the "mexican socket set " lol well I think so anyways , plus the average , that would search youtube on how to do a service might not have much more than that , and a few old screw drivers too ...true lol ...mexican socket set ...I like that one lmao

  • Get yourself the right size socket for that drain plug, instead of using that mexican socket set!

  • lol if I wanted to be funny I would say sheesh every time you do a video your neighbor is mowing his lawn but I know you did all these videos the same day.I buy the 5 quart jugs set it in a decent spot drain the engine oil. Then do the filter followed by replacing the drain plug.I then fill the oil and I also grease everything every oil change.I just think it is good paractice more so with older vehicles.I change oil every 2 or 3 thousand mi.

  • @delmontcrusier the sad part is the only videos I did on the same day were the vic videos , like my door glass on the wrecker was a sunday , the vic a tuesday eve lol he mows 3 times a week , and that yapping weiner dog of his uuhhhggg

  • @delmontcrusier there is not a single zerk fitting on that vic , you can't grease anything , planned failure ??

  • Great vid I have a 2001 and this will help me out!

  • @ComputerTechTV on a 01 car you will have to turn the wheels to full lock to get the filter out , if i remember right...

  • @gonehuntin018 some are worse than others , but they all suck lol

  • How that oil filter is in there is why some police and cab companies started putting the remote filters on them for the ease of service. The worst I ever had to do was the 98 Grand Prix. You would have to take off the passenger side front tire to get the filter off. But my work still wanted it due in less then 20 mins including tire rotation.

  • @parkranger443thats really pushing it in 20 min , could it even be done ? I somehow doubt it lol

  • you dont think that anyone would remember that coldstart over on the motor pile without a filoter on it do you. naaa i didnt think so haha :-)

  • @speedy75602 I knew he would lol

  • great how to video jason

! im a new subsriber but loving the videos!

  • @captainmcduche thanks , but you might learn redneck engineering lol

  • @towrecker nothing wrong with that lol

  • Ever see those oil filter adapters leak? They make a MESS!

  • @ghtowagon yup , the only oil filter design that was good was the old canister jobs , but messy to change lol

  • @towrecker When I used to change alot of oil on cars I always made cardboard shoots and deflectors to guide the oil so it would not get allover the car. Then years later someone developed some memory rubber/plastic that did the same thing cardboard does. But for 40x the price

  • @ghtowagon huuummm now I have to try and make one out of 28g galvaloom lol , dang thats another video lol

  • The 302...... :) I wouldnt worry about the car spraying oil as bad, this engine atleast has a filter on it........ LOL.

  • @More350Power I am thinking I need to start that 302 in your living room :)

  • @towrecker LOL

  • @More350Power you do know on your mower deck just leave the drain plug out , start engine while at the same time just dumping oil in her , that would cut that project time in half lol

  • @towrecker That would work, and it would coat everything around it too as well LOL!! I just might try it...... I did forget the filler cap only once, started it, and took a bath in oil..... then the kill switch failed.... LOL!

  • is this police car urs or is it a retired police car?

  • @compwiz878 retired

  • @compwiz878 It's mine
