Are you saying youve had a go a 'Help me through the night' too?? I'd be interested in talking a look at that, if you dont mind.
I got so pissed off with 'Shades of Night are Growing' that I've written my own. Uses the same rhyme scheme as the original, and keeps to the original meaning, wherever possible. Its been a very satisfying excersise.
I tried a translation of Die Schatten Werden Langer too, but I couldn't get furher than one line. I think it's best for me to stick to literal translations.
Could you send me your translation? I would love to see it!
Yeah, these orchestrations are 'thinner'. The original has much more of a moving waltz beat.
But that key change really make a lot of difference to the song- its less monotamous, repeatative, it adds just a little extra something to whats already a very brilliant, slightly hypnotic tune.
PS- (God, why dont I ever have enough space), I love those pics of Fäden in der Hand!!!!!!!!!
Something which always gets me rather is that that woman's in a proper corset, you can see that with her waist and the busk. Yet, where are the laces!!!!! In a song about strings and puppeteering, HER STRINGS ARE MISSING!!
Oh my goodness, I've just realised what Ive been missing from this English version- THE KEY CHANGE!!! They have this amazing key change, which is missing!!! at 2:31 (2:27 Ger)
BTW, what does actually go on on stage during this scene?? The music is this wonderful waltz, surely it can't just be a stationary battle of wills/words, there has to be some movement.
Oh, and where do you get your pictures from? I honestly dont have as many of Uwe/Elisabeth/anything else related as I should do, lol!! (I had enough Wicked photos to fill a website- so I did!) All I've got of Rudolf is a tiney wideshot of Fäden in der Hand. Could you help me out? Know any good places to look??
Okay, I have to admit, once you get over the absolute cheat of repeating the rhyme word, Mary's first bit is actually good. Unfortunitly, I dont like the bit after! The coats of mink section could have been written/rhymed better. (for some reason, I find 'think' cheap.) Oh, well, I guess its all a matter of oppinion. I'm probably still gonna see if I can do my own English version though. Blame it on 'Shades of Night'- they started it!!!!
Hmmmm, that was interesting. Thanks so much for uploading it! I'm addicted to Uwe singing this song- my God, he just sounds so evil!!!
I'm not sure about the translations though. I mean, yeah, they generally mean the same, and they are better then others I've seen, but I still think theres something about those German lyrics I find addictive. I find it annoying they're rhyming lines with the same word- 'dear' etc. Gahhh, its annying!! Almost as bad as 'Shades of Night are Growing'. Almost! Thx

Who is this? I know Taffee is played by Michael Lanning, but who plays Mary? Would be nice if anyone could tell me :-)

@Vitruvian99, I think it might be Brandi Burkhardt who also sang in "Jekyll & Hyde: Resurrection"
I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.
