in order 2 b a show tank must have impeccable water
i have a 125 gallon with african cichlids almost 30 of em.(babies for now) and i have a sump rated for a 200 gallon aquarium 2 biowheels both rated for 75 gallons
@usuallysingle well this tank has a fluval FX5 whick is good for 600 gals and 2 emperor 400's each good for 90 gals... so not sure what your point is...
to all thos people that obviously dont know what a good diplay tank should look like use r off tap this tank is possably one of the best tanks ive seen in a long time and hybridization issues? how do you people think all these species came about ? cheers for the good movie mate
While having a cichlid crowd can smooth out temperament, too many fish and certainly too many species exist in this system. Poor water quality and clarity is evident. It's obviously loaded with nitrates and phosphates, hence the massive algae bloom. Gross hybridization is most certainly a concern -- an injustice to the species and hobby alike. Over a year since your post...I'll bet some deceased fish have been removed since then -- though you'll say different.
Very nice tank you got here. And to the ones that posted that there is not enough space or caves, its actually not a bad setup. Cichlids need to be overcrowded to disperse aggression and in the wild they school like this too. And providing caves sparks aggression cause it gives them something to fight for. Having no caves gives them no reason to fight.
Just got into Peacocks last year, you have a couple really nice ones.I didn`t have luck at first as I added them to Mbuna tanks, now I buy them bigger with much better luck.I had to get rid of my Demasoni`s though, they attacked my Peacocks a little much.Thinking about setting up a Demasoni tank by them selves.
@AQUATUBR well, we added them to mbuna tanks too but they seem to do fine. we just make sure that the tank is crowded to reduce aggression. our mbunas arent too aggressive because we raised them up all together since fry.
wonderful like a river view of cichlids that you have created .your fish are healthy and colorful too .what do you feed them

amorning1976 3 months ago

Not what I expect a show tank to look like, but you did show it.

you should put in some broken vases or rock WITH HIDING SPOTS, they NEED to hide from each other
