Good times I spent in I.V. from 1978-1980. Good to see S.O.S. liquors sign again, after all these years. It was a magic place to be young there at the time... thanx for the vid ...5 stars :)
Yes, the Famouse IV Halloween Parade of dumb drunken college girls who dress skimpier and skimpier as the night gets later and later and they get drunker and drunker. Then they start with the teasing of the frat boys by pretending to be lesbians after leading them on till, of course, some of the girls get raped by the guys while everyone is hammered (this goes on all year round but ESPECIALLY on Halloween) and then you have the cadlelight vigils where they chant "women unite take back the night.
Don't feel sorry for me. I had a LOT of great times and met some good people too, plus a bunch of different hot chicks I was dating and fucking. All I was doing is telling the truth in a humorous way...staight forward, off-the-cuff, and to-the-point saying THIS IS ISLA VISTA! I saw a lot more of it then you did. I lived there for 13 years. What I said about the homeless people, the halloween parade, the spoiled "valley-girl-talking" students, the food co-op, etc. is MOSTLY true or you're blind
Well then you'd have to be deaf and dumb too because everything I said is obvious. I mean how long is the pink elephant in the room without anyone saying anything; how long do you hear LIKE and AWESOME and see them throw away all kinds of expensive shit that the bums dive in the dumpsters for, the terrible quality beer at the parties, this upcoming halloween prick-tease parade followed by the candlelight vigil, the high prices at the co-op, etc. You'd have to be Egyptian wading in blind denial.
@nairategev why were you here for 13 years if you hated it so much? i know it sounds snarky but i'm just curious. On another note, of course the co-op food is going to be more expensive. The underpriced food at chain grocery stores are produced by a large industrial food machine that create food thats WAY underpriced. The Co-op has a strong relationship with its local producers and would not underprice foods at the cost of hurting those local famers just to make more profit for themselves.
@yishbot I never said I hate IV...the weather and scenery is great. I even met some nice students and locals there (even some nice spoiled students...though they usually aren't nice). I also never said they were ALL spoiled. But the last time I lived there from 2005 to 2008 I was doing a live-in nursing job for a guy with a brain injury. The co-op also has a few good things about it but it is mainly run for big opportunistic profits and, as an example, certain items like tomatoes are always high
@nairategev there are spoiled kids, but a lot of people are here on financial aid, & i have friends that work and put themselves though school. & its not mostly true, I don't think you looked very far at all if you lived here & your view of IV is that narrow. Its not obvious, & no one i know would throw away "expensive shit" to give to homeless people. you just needed to meet different people. My time in IV has been nothing short of amazing.
@yishbot Well actually ever since the economy went into the toilet 2-3 years ago, their are now more struggling students (even homeless ones who live in vehicles near the red barn at estero) but I still maintain that their are a shit load of spoiled students at UCSB and, yes, it's also a well known FACT that their is a whole industry for the Mexicans and homeless called dumpster harvest which happens heavily 2 times a year when the students go away for vacation. Maybe your friends aren't spoiled
Here's IV in a nutshell: spoiled asshole students (most of them dumbass American trust-funders who constantly say like and awesome like retarded valley girls), lots of bad quality beer parties, good Cali beach weather, the food co-op which is just a scam to rape the wallets of the yuppies with inflated health food prices, a bunch of filthy asshole homeless street maggots who live of the spoiled garbage of the stupid students by dumpster diving, and the famous IV Halloween Parade.
Great little film. Please do more. Does Leperchaun still live there? or Diva? How bout a biopic? If you see either of these ghosts, please buy them a drimk for me.
Leprechaun is a dry-drunk with no personality anymore. I saw him on the MTD bus about a year ago, and Diva has been dead for quite some time. Good guitar player but he drank himself to death. Such is life in IV. If you want a good laugh check out my remarks about this video/IV. Over and out, Nick

I never shopped at the food co op, most kids were from middle class backgrounds, enjoyed the bad quality beer parties.
