Need4Clips: I noticed Heath ducked his head right before the truck flips also but more than likely that was acting on a set. The truck was rigged to flip like that and I dought they would have put Heath Ledger in that dangerous of a situation.

Not to put your theory or explanation down, but to put Heath Ledger in danger would be ridiculous. The hospital wouldn't have ever been as dangerous as that of the semi flipping over. The pieces flying through the air when the hospital explodes are fake. Sorry!

Yes, but the huge explosion, isn't. It was a great danger to walk that close. And Nolan says in the DVD disc 2, that it was a very brave thing he did by just walking there, and not looking back for ONCE!

It was a serious question. In the movie, you can see that he ducks a split second before it flips over. I just wasn't sure if he was actually in there.

Well, I remember there being two separate shots. Batman pierced the truck, drove under it, Joker said he missed, cut to the street lights falling, another cut to the truck flipping. What I loved about the action in this was that they really cut their reliance on CGI.

There was a compressed gas-powered ram installed in the middle of the trailer, pointing straight down.

When the ram fires, the piston drives into the pavement, pushing the trailer up.

Just remember this shot will mostly be about two frames, they will add more frames in the editing possibly showing us a reasonable explanation why this truck was totalled. i think, and i've heard rumors similar to this, that at the end of the movie, joker will be on trial. Dent will be the occusing attorney, and joker will mame him, hence two-face for the next film. just like in batman begins, they'll show next movie's villian at the end.
