After being in the Music Ministry for over 25 years, I've noticed that people that have suffered great trauma (especially sexual) like you have, tend to gravitate to the more extreme and strict denominations like the deliverance church.

I think that 'Christians' in America, ESPECIALLY African-Americans are so hateful in the name of 'Jesus' as is relevant in most of the comments on this video. Its already sad that people deflect their insecurities by pulling down the happiness, and value of another person, but to do it in the name of 'Jesus' and 'Christianity' is horrible, and is akin to the Pharisees of Jesus' time. I want Tonex to work with Keke Wyatt, Tarralynne Ramsey, and Dettrick Haddon. He is a fantastic singer/song stylist and producer. If gospel music wants to pull the young from the current negativity of mainstream music, we need people like Tonex.

I think all of us could stand to educate ourselves. My wife and I love listening to Babyface and The Ojays etc when we want to set our mood. But we are saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost. I think we as Christians have told the world for so long what we CANT do until we havent told people what we CAN do. The word SECULAR just simply means non-religious. The theme song to Gilligans Island is SECULAR because it has nothing to do with God/Christ/Religion, but is a person hellbound because they sing it.....absolutely not! Content is everything. If you read the songs of Solomon which is a book of songs in the bible, most of those songs were what we would call love songs. As long as the music does not promote sin or evil (sex, cussin, fast living, etc) its not wrong.

True and False. Jesus did not use it to reach the world but God did. The book of Psalms is a collection of music/poetry. Pretty much everyone has been at church and had a SONG touch their heart. Before I was saved a sermon would not hold my attention but the words of the song "His eye is on the Sparrow" pierced my heart and brought tears to my eyes. It ministered to me as music ministers to MANY MANY people. God is not small and has many tools He uses to reach the world. Truth is Truth.

The Bible is COMPLETE. Everything in the Bible is in it because it was obviously in His will for it be the way it is. Before the foundations of the earth were even formed God already knew who He would use to write what is known as the Bible. They writers were merely vessels of God being used. Those vessels wrote what is now known as the Bible and the most powerful form of ministry. If Psalms is a collection of songs/poetry, therefore GOD is using music to minister to people.
I assumed it could go unsaid that yes music was created as a form of worship, thats a given. However my only point I was trying to make is that GOD raises up some of these music artist of today and gives them the music, that music which Gods creation (us) uses as a tool to minister and lead others to Christ. Younglion made some good points though. I feel that music placed under the genre of Gospel Rap only reaches a certain demographic. The people who we should be reaching are those who listen to secular. It would be powerful to see an Artist who stands for Jesus go and reach the world the same way Jesus did. I have been in clubs and heard them pump Church songs before. The beat has to be really good and catchy-I have heard it more than once though. Also, the Christian rap is for those of us who normally would never listen to church music. You need something that is going to be catchy to compete with the "Secular" music. Truth is saved or not you want your music to be "timeless"...think about it?...your gift came from an eternal God. How you choose to use it is your choice. But a "DELIVERANCE" church is no more filled with the Holy spirit then a Baptist, Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Lutheran or Church. Etc.... After being in the Music Ministry for over 25 years, I've noticed that people that have suffered great trauma (especially sexual) like you have, tend to gravitate to the more extreme and strict denominations like the deliverance church.

I think that 'Christians' in America, ESPECIALLY African-Americans are so hateful in the name of 'Jesus' as is relevant in most of the comments on this video. I can't keep up with all the comments. In spite of anything, I think Tonex is a talented and wise individual. I love watching ..his interviews becuase he does not always hold his tongue, and for some subjects, we never have to guess and wonder. I think all of us could stand to educate ourselves. My wife and I love listening to Babyface and The Ojays etc when we want to set our mood. But we are saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost. I think we as Christians have told the world for so long what we CANT do until we havent told people what we CAN do. That's one reason why people are afraid to give their lives to Christ; because we make anything that's not Jesus related evil. Now I do agree Tonex needs help in other areas.

The word SECULAR just simply means non-religious. The theme song to Gilligans Island is SECULAR because it has nothing to do with God/Christ/Religion, but is a person hellbound because they sing it.....absolutely not! Content is everything. If you read the songs of Solomon which is a book of songs in the bible, most of those songs were what we would call love songs. As long as the music does not promote sin or evil (sex, cussin, fast living, etc) its not wrong.

True and False. Jesus did not use it to reach the world but God did. The book of Psalms is a collection of music/poetry. Pretty much everyone has been at church and had a SONG touch their heart. Before I was saved a sermon would not hold my attention but the words of the song "His eye is on the Sparrow" pierced my heart and brought tears to my eyes. It ministered to me as music ministers to MANY MANY people. God is not small and has many tools He uses to reach the world. Truth is Truth.

The Bible is COMPLETE. Everything in the Bible is in it because it was obviously in His will for it be the way it is. Before the foundations of the earth were even formed God already knew who He would use to write what is known as the Bible. They writers were merely vessels of God being used. Those vessels wrote what is now known as the Bible and the most powerful form of ministry. If Psalms is a collection of songs/poetry, therefore GOD is using music to minister to people.

I assumed it could go unsaid that yes music was created as a form of worship, thats a given. However my only point I was trying to make is that GOD raises up some of these music artist of today and gives them the music, that music which Gods creation (us) uses as a tool to minister and lead others to Christ. I've met many who wont sit and listen to a sermon and wont read the bible because they dont understand it. Cast a good God inspired song out to them though and see if they bite...

What I mean by that is Jesus used parables to reach the masses. He didnt go out there beating people over the head with bibles. exactly he used parables to teach which means he broke it down in simpler term so that ppl can understand what he is teachin, again he did not use entertainment to draw them closer to him. Jesus did not say use whatever method 2 teach the truth, Jesus gave specific instruction on how to do it. And for ppl who is only moved by music alone needs prayer & some fasting & prayer. Younglion made some good points though. I feel that music placed under the genre of Gospel Rap only reaches a certain demographic. The people who we should be reaching are those who listen to secular. It would be powerful to see an Artist who stands for Jesus go and reach the world the same way Jesus did. Christians often frown on someone as soon as they hear the word secular. You may not understand this but a well covered hook will catch more fish than a hook w/ no bait. A fisher of man.

I have been in clubs and heard them pump Church songs before. The beat has to be really good and catchy-I have heard it more than once though. Also, the Christian rap is for those of us who normally would never listen to church music. You need something that is going to be catchy to compete with the "Secular" music. Yes, it may be for a "certain demographic;" just remember, that demographic is the future of the christian ministry.

Intriguing! I thought he did quite well. If you are a superficial person then it will show in your music & beyond. Truth is saved or not you want your music to be "timeless"...think about it?...your gift came from an eternal God. How you choose to use it is your choice. In my opinion, he's encouraging and challenging singers, writers, etc., to give people thought provoking & substance filled music, while showing the best in them...what we haven't seen. I appreciate his insight!

Well everyone, the "Naked Truth"(excuse the pun) is that we need to all pray for everyone. One thing about Christians, you speak the word, do your dance on Sundays, say amen and shout halleluah, then whenyou come out of church, you have the deveil sitting in your car. You get mad when you can't sit in your favorite seat, you frown up at anybody who is lost and say "they need Jesua", but you don't give them the time of day. Nikkiesalsa, you made a statement that "one thing about Christians,..." Please don't confuse people who go to church with "Christians." The Bible says that you will know we are God's children by our love. If what you are seeing is not love, then please don't define those individuals as Christians. They may be Christians, but we can only "KNOW FOR SURE" someone is a Christian by their love.

prayformj, we removed the clip that you are referring to due to the unfortunate way it was being misinterpreted. Tonex did NOT say that Benny Hinn and Michael Jackson had the same anointing. It was a short clip from a 90 min. interview and without the full context, people obviously didn't understand his comments or the context, so rather than have him so grossly misinterpreted, we took it down.
