Kotoko airport has come a long way, I remember the airport back in 1990. Only thing I would add is that we need a 2nd international airport especially now as the economy and number of visitors is increasing dramatically.
@kakompo - well, they did fix it for the Ghana@50 celebrations and CAN2008, and it is improving every time I go there........
I don't like how your friends can't walk inside if they don't have a ticket, there should be access at least in the foyer......but, they have rectified this in the arrivals section, as I was getting my camera ready for walking outside when I saw all my friends waiting for me inside in the arrivals foyer......this is much better !
@Ghanapedia That's right. They should change the arrival area to the same way. Some years back people could walk up the stairs to even wave good bye to their family and friends as they climb aboard the plane. Things have changed quite a lot.
@Physicspilot - hey man, I knew you would be all over this one like a cheap suit !
Great clip, I will soon be embedding it to my website's reference to Kotoka International Airport.......the cameras here got into areas where I can't film - the arrivals hall & the control tower......
@Physicspilot - only too well, but I have some kind of interest in civil aircraft, maybe not to your level, but I like to know what kind of aircraft I am flying on.
One of my favourite shows is also Air Crash Investigation/Mayday.....
Hey, I take it your have heard at length about the Qantas A380 incident after take-off from Singapore the other day ?
People complain about Qantas here, but they've never had a fatality. People won't be satisfied until they do & they are vindicated !
I watch Mayday as well but not quite familiar with Air Crash Investigation.
Yeah i heard about the A380 incident. It feels great to know that the pilots made a safe landing after such an ordeal.I wish to fly Qantas anywhere but sadly they don't have North American routes. An airline with zero fatalities is a blessing!
@Physicspilot - yeah, sorry, Mayday for you guys, I forgot.....same show
To fly Qantas, you would either be heading to Australia, or you might be in Europe heading to Asia, then perhaps on to Australia....I'm sure with Qantas their female hosties are told to put on their strongest Aussie accent, they are all such Ozzie ockers, like off the filmclip for "Land Down Under" !
In the US, I flew with Southwest & United, and they were ok, but not the quality of Singapore Airlines or Lufthansa....
@Ghanapedia Haha absolutely..i may be going to Ghana soon but quite worried about what airline to go with 'cause of threats all around of bomb attacks.I'm quite sure you've heard of the latest(foiled attack) by terrorists in Yemen against Canada/U.S.Its quite intimidating. Sorry for the late reply.
@Physicspilot - well, my next one is likely to be Brussels Air, as they have just opened a route earlier this year........so I will likely go to Europe, spend 1-2 days either way, then go on to Ghana.....
However, due to location, we have different problems on how to get to Europe in that case, unless I have an around-the-world ticket like last time......I flew from LA to Munich with Lufthansa on that occasion, then used BA to get to London then Ghana (return to Munich).
@Physicspilot - I heard of the latest scare.......sadly, even if the US got out of Middle Eastern affairs today, I don't think this issue would abate for about 10-20 years, perhaps even longer.......
I could probably understand the logic if these guys hit a munitions or military hardware manufacturer, but I think it's cowardly to go for civil aircraft.....also have a low opinion of those who think that knocking down a target like the Eiffel Tower would be a great thing.....could you imagine !

KIA surely needs to update it's facilities a soon as it can. It's a big project but that would be great. It needs a facelift.
