I love all the cars songs but this and Moving In Stereo have got to be my favourites. They just sort of put you in another world, you just sort of drift along...and when Ben's bass part comes in, its so freaking awesome. I can just see Ben standing there looking so sexy going along keeping the beat. The Cars were so damn great, Ric's quirky fascinating lyrics, Ben's outrageous sex appeal, Elliot's superb playing, Greg and David's talent...damn they had it all. How could anyone NOT like them?!!!

I think I can live on this gliding, mysterious song. It floats on another plane. Close your eyes and so much imagery flickers by the witches brew of Ocasek's lyrics and soothing, seductive sounds. I've been listening to A DREAM AWAY since forever. Each time, it feels like going on a journey. Maybe it goes back to being 12-years-old in 1982 and listening to THE CARS fourth album and especially this song over and over again in my room with the lights out.

I've been trying to figure out who did this song for over ten years. I always thought it was Ric Ocasek solo and the title was called take it on the run. That's all I remember. So glad to get that out of my head for so long.....anyway....bad ass song, always has been - classic band !

This came out in '81. That is the one thing that made rock music great from the '60s to the '80s is the change in music from one album to the next from the same bands. Don't hear that in today's music or music the past two decades, all same sound like if it all comes off the assembly line:(

The five best bands of the eighties, in my humble opinion, and in no certain order; were The Cars, U2, REM, INXS, and Depeche Mode. There were others I dug, but the Cars had some songs, albums that have stood the test of time. Just like the rest of my favorites.

I went to the Cars concert in Ballston spa NY. in 1980 the motels were the warmup band and I still have the cars concert t- shirt ,great memories!

I need to get this album for this track. I have several Cars anthologies / greatest hits, but this isn't on them. It's an amazing track - another example of consumate songwriting by Ric Ocasek.
