Well, we helped the locking process along of course. He has very fine, straight hair.

No, we did not. His Mom experimented rubber bands at the roots later when they were grown out

We backcombed and crocheted them. We also added a tiny bit of synthetic hair.

Yes, of course. Luca has fine, bone straight hair and you see it worked. However, you need to find somebody who knows the right technique for your type of hair. Avoid places that just glue your hair together with wax - that won't work and it is yucky!

Ooooch, schade! Luca hatte das Glück das sich seine Mama schon mal bei uns hatte Dreadlocks machen lassen und dafür etwas mehr aufgeschlossen war, als "normale" Mütter. Natürlich hatten wir bedenken ob Luca so lange sitzen würde, wie er auf Fragen von der Umwelt reagieren würde etc. Aber Luca ließ sich durch nichts beirren und ist nur noch stolz. Wie bist Du den als kleiner Steppke auf die Idee gekommen Locks zu wollen? Vielleicht klappt es ja nocht.. :)

ist echt schade .. ._. wobei ich sagen muss das es weniger an meiner mum liegt bzw lag . eher daran das ich meine haare erst gaaaaanz lange hatte .. also so ziemlich perfekt zum dreaden undse dann ab mussten und seit dem will ichsie wachsen lassen .. und jz muss das endlich mal klappen ich träum schon sooo lange von dreads angefangen hats eigentlich damit das meine mum mir Bob Marley *_* in die wiege gelegt hat und seit ich Bob marley Bzw reggae höre träume ich von dreads.

Bob Marley habe ich schon immer sehr gemocht :). Übrigens, Du brauchst nur 10 cm lange Haare, dann können wir Dir Dreadlocks machen in die Kunsthaar mit eingefilzt wird, so das Du gleich die gewünschte Länge hast. Das sieh alles wie echt aus. Auf Wunsch kannst Du später wenn Du Deine Dreadlocks richtig lang gezüchtet hast, auch den Kunsthaarteil abschneiden lassen, so das es am Ende nur noch Deine eigenen Haare sind. Thank you! I agree with you, it is great how kids are still prejudice free :). We all think Luca made a good choice. At first we were sceptical, but the locks really suit him and he is so happy and proud of them. It does not wear off for him it seems :).

I agree about the wax. But if you have straight hair and you do not backcomb and crochet all you get is a matted hair. Not everybody likes the Neanderthal look. Let everybody have the dreads they like I would say.

They look sehr gute ( i hope I remember my duestche) I lived in Hanau for a while now in Hawaii but I wish I knew your shop when I was in Germany it was only when went back to the states that I realized being natural for me as a African American was best... I do think his dreads are the bomb!!!

You know people with straight hair are never happy as well and get perms which ruin their hair. We always want what we don't have I suppose. Too bad Hawaii is too far away from Heilbronn though ;).

Because his hair is dreaded down to the roots. If he lets the locks grow out, the scalp would no longer be visible.

Thank you for your comment :). Do you mean the roots or the complete dreads? Luca has very straight, very fine hair. If you do not tend the locks well, they would look rather untidy very quickly - which would just comfirm all kinds of prejudice. So far people are amzed on how tidy he looks all the time. And Luca himself loves them the way they are.
