  • Oh Mr. Humphries! I miss you :'(

  • This is a fantastic tribute! I had no idea he had passed on. I remember watching that show when I was a kid. I also remember that I was too young to get any of his jokes, but laughed myself silly when I watched them as an adult.

  • Loved watching "Are you being served" on PBS!

  • Thanks for the laughs Mr. Inman. You are missed by many.

  • There are some totally rubbish tributes on the internet.......... thankfully, this is not one of them. I don't think I've ever seen one this good. Thank you.

  • were ca i get the song!! help pleaase! love ur video to (-=

  • I love your tribues to John Inman and Are you Being Served and your own shorts...films that is :) Do you know 'INSIDE THE ACTOR'S STUDIO" with James Lipton... well, he always asks his celebrity guests, "If God exists what would you like to hear him say when you reach the pearly gates?" in John's case...it was "ARE YOU FREE?" to which he replied "YES, I'M FREE."

  • whats the name of that song at the song???

  • the name of the song is

    ARE YOU BEING SERVED SIR

  • He came to our PBS station in Ohio and was very charming. God bless him. He was such a dear man.

  • What a great tribute to a warm kind caring man. Well put together - well done

  • I'm 16, but I grew up on Are You Being Served, and when my mom told me today that both John Inman and Wendy Richards had passed, I cried. :(

    Lovely tribute!

  • I love the pic with Wendy @ 1:25!!!

I love both of them!!!! R.I.P.

  • This show was something else, and he was fantastic. I've got the dvd set, and they never get old.

  • I still watch "Are You Being Served?" on the BBC channel and I love Mr Humphries. And I'm still a teen! :D

  • @perniciousparsley lol me too He's so cute

  • I most talented man. The whole cast worked well together. No matter how many times you see the series you never get tired of it.

You still at their antics. A real treasure.

  • Very nicely made tribute!

We love ya John! - your #1 fan "across The Pond".

  • John INman!! What a guy!! A true class act!!

  • Wonderful. He will live on, his skill as an actor has proved that.

  • aw man *now* i get the news that my boy inman is gone. the 1st time i watched are you being served? i was in my senior yr of high school. a very entertaining show but mr humphries wound up my favorite! he was cool.--ks

  • I have only watched Are You Being Served? twice, but I adored Mr. Humpries from the start. Of course my parents tease me (as they do when I talk off Boy George..), but I really don't care. Amazing man John is, and how wonderful he made the show. I hope he will never be forgotten, sadly when the adult generation is gone, I think only a few of my generation will remember him. (I am 14) It's terrible to think of that. But thanks ever so much for this tribute; made me truly smile. I'm free!

  • Hey, it ok, I'm 15 and I love the series and Mr. Humphries, I was sad when I heard about it...and I know I will remeber him and the show for the rest of my life, and I will do my best to show the...show around to friends. So he will atleast be remember by a few loyal fans. ^_^

  • Well said! You sound very mature for your age

  • He was a great actor, and wonderful at making people laugh. Fortunately, he left the world the great character of Mr. Humphries.

    Rest in peace, John Inman.

  • thanks for posting

  • thank you

  • Lovely video, he will be very missed :(

  • THANK YOU ALL FOR THE COMMENTS! I WANTED TO POST THIS SHORT TRIBUTE SO HE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. SADLY MANY OF OUR GREAT COMEDY ACTORS BEFORE HIM HAVE...EG- Kenneth Williams, Bob Monkhouse, Les Dawson...The list is endless-Just like the laughter they bring.

  • not to mention Dave Allen, that guy from Monty Python, Grahame Kenedy......

  • @duncaninchina A great tribute to a great comic actor. His legacy will live on everytime I watch an old episode of AYBS. So sad that most of the cast of that show are gone to their eternal rest. They will live in our hearts forever.

  • @duncaninchina

Amen to that, Eric Sykes, Eric Morcambe, Peter Sellers, Joyce Grenfell so many.

By a wierd connection my father attended Eric Morcambes funeral. When everyone was back at the house his 6 year old grandson asked his grandmother, Eric's wife, why grandad wasn't there?

A silence fell across the room as she replied.

"He's gone to do a special performance in heaven for God.".

After a short pause her g-dson replied, "Does that mean all the magic stops now"?

Out of the mouths of babes.

  • @smudge6699 Eric Sykes is still with us, fortunately. He gave life to many well loved comics, including the great Frankie Howerd 8-))

  • @duncaninchina

I never knew he was still alive, my huge apologies to him and you!

He must be stone deaf by now bless him, he was going that way years ago.

Oh! The one and only Kenny Everitt and of course Graham Chapman (Monty Python).

    :-D

  • @smudge6699 how sad..... but the magic does live on doesnt it?

  • @duncaninchina never forgotten but sadly missed...always missed. Thanks for this wonderful upload...he was a genius...generations will know him.

  • i loved mr humphries

  • i remember watching this show on PBS in the late 80's/early 90's with my mom. it was my first exposure to both british comedy and gays on tv shows. he portrayed a stereotype, but that doesn't matter. he (or his character, i should say) showed me, gay at 13, that it's ok to be gay, that you will have friends who will accept you even if you are gay, and that i wasn't the only gay person on the planet. thank you so much for the laughter and the comfort, Mr Inman. we owe you so much.

  • As my one of my favorite BBC actors I'm sorry to see John leave this earth.I leared to love Mr.Humpries the king of "I'm Free".Thank you for the laughter you have given us.God Bless you John Inman
