@robertofied18 yes, the left side of the screen was the files on the server at godaddy and on the right hand side of the screen were the files on my local harddrive. I was just showing another way of accessing and uploading files. The only time i ever use the expanded view is to delete a file from godaddys server. use the first method i showed until you find your feet.

@Raaj143Y hi, it is possible to start an online business with little web design experience but it would be easier if you knew how to design a site. If you are planning to sell products then It might be worth buying an eccommerce all in one package which is like a shop in a box. If you have dreamweaver then probably the easiest and cheapest way to sell some products is to use google checkout or add a paypal button next to each product.

@tokyorose999 you will need to buy a hosting account, but you don't have to buy from the same place you purchased the domain. GoDaddy are good, I have 2 sites hosted with them and don't have many problems. - James

@tokyorose999 The best thing is to purchase a host account, set up your FTP and then upload your site. Its easy to set up your ftp.

@tokyorose999 it wont take long to set up a hosting account, if you take it with godaddy then it will be easier as your domain is registered there. ftp is easy to set up too so shouldnt take long at all. - James

@TechnologicalUK just click on your main root folder in the files panel and then click on the up arrow to upload the whole site. It should ask you if you want to upload whole site when you do that. - James

thanks man!...this saved my life. I actually didn't have to look at the entire tutorial to get the help I needed. There was one small issue that you guys probably never would have thought to really cover within the tutorial. The problem was that when setting up the ftp user, godaddy gives 3 options under the "PATH" section. I received error messages every time I tried to connect DW until I changed this setting to "HOSTING ROOT" which is the last option in the list. THANKS!

I did all the setting and I keep getting FTP errors I have checked with the host and all the settings are ok. this has been going on for 2 weeks now and I am about to pull my hair out lol. I downloaded a free ftp software it is Smartftp and within 4 settings I was up and running, I checked the settings on Dreamweavers CS$ Mac and it still comes up erros. Please can you help?

@Prince7641 when setting up your ftp user try setting the "path" option to "Hosting Root"...it gave me error message every single time until I made that change and it immediately connected with no issues...I also almost gave up on DW...but I think it's more GoDaddy being so vague with their instructions rather than DW being the problem. Hope that may help because working directly from DW is so much easier in my opinion.

@benny714 where the properties panel is located there is an FTP log and it might give you a clue as to whats going wrong for you.
