  • I don't know what it is about your vids, but they are so fun to watch

    btw

    thats a sexy bass

  • awesome bass

  • Hey Dave, did you have to do any more on the chip repair? Flat back and polish maybe? Or did it just stay as it was after you floated in the lacquer?

    As ever, nice job.

  • @ShiftySquirrel

    I used black lacquer

  • thats quite possibly the coolest bass i've ever seen.

  • Hey Dave I thought that product - Nu-Finish is silicone based? If it is its no good for Lacquer Finish is it??

    Good for cars finishes though!!

    Great Vid - Thanks

  • @MrStu9459

    no silicone in Nu-finish

  • i used to have a hofner beatle bass. got rid of it on ebay a long time ago.. it had the floating bridge, and i think thats the reason why i got rid of it. You cant pluck the strings too hard on a floating bridge! but like the aria, it had an interesting tone.

  • Hey Dave, great work man! your videos have guided me off Gooch St many a time, as well as put new and awesome terms in my vocabulary. Any chance we could get a comprehensive video on DNA removal ? ie what you use to clean maple necks , or do you use something different based on severity ? other products you endorse ? company you buy tools off ( radius gauges, straight edges, general stuff you don't need but have to have ) ?

  • @jkzfixme

    I'll see what I can do :)

  • Now that Bass looks beautful. Good job Dave.

  • @bassmaster361

    Washburn AB-90i

    No. 18 of 48 Made :)

  • You are awesome man!

  • That burst is really gorgeous.

  • Was tempted to get a shortscale Starbass...new 2011 models are beautiful but frightening prices...

  • My guess...the neck was being removed, three screws were out and the thing was leaned on or something and it went ping....

  • Wow what a nice job you pulled off there. Thanks Dr. Dave for bringing a dead corpse to life.........................

It's as good as new. (Remember: " A quality guitar is easy to repear'). hahaha

    Greetzzzzzzzzzzz Frank

  • @noordcop1

    Thanks for the compliment :)

  • I applaud your work on the (now) nice bass!

    clapclapclapclap

  • @HarderThanCalculus

    Thanks !!!

  • Great work....again!

  • @joemensor2008

    thanks for commenting :)

  • Dave, so I went back to where you had to replace your water heater video. Some bureaucrat BS pay the man off to change the Code eh? Did they tell you that your flu was inadequate for both the boiler and water heater? I see you have a power vent now. Noisy fuks they are.

  • @eegoog

yep and they tagged my furnace to boot

    C,,,suckers

  • Never ask a gentleman where he gets his foam

  • It does have a nice finish...Well done Dave.

  • sweet

  • I love that finish. the black keys guy has a guitar just the same. they don't make em like that anymore.

  • I have a Granada 6 string guitar, that I think was made by Aria, that could be the sister of that bass. It looks exactly the same...well, except it has guitar bridge and neck of course lol

  • Where did you get the foam to replace the mute from?

  • @NapoleanXV

it's foam from EMG pickup packaging

  • Ha ha, "back to the Quincy aspect." It must have been a couple of decades since I last heard Quincy. Great video.

    Jack

  • Nice job!!

  • The bass turned out good, and has nice tone.

  • Nicely done, Dave. Help yourself to a beer.

  • Great job!

  • Great job Dave. The finish came up great.

  • Nice Job Man! I like the tone.. kinda muted sounding .. worth the effort. :)

  • what are you using to cleaning the body with?

  • @bordinco90

    A biodegradable product called SimpleGreen.

it cuts threw a lot of crap without hurting the actual finish

  • Did you know that word MOGILA means GRAVE on Russian? It's just funny to hear you saying that word, over and over, in your videos :)

  • nice vid dave...thx....and for what its worth..i use Trick Drum Polish on my guitars for a quick after playing clean up...works really well. no waxy build up too!...

  • It looks brand new! Great job!

  • Great looking and sounding bass! You have restored it back to it's Glory!

  • dave ur a great teacher

  • At the end you asked what you did to this bass. You forgot to mention the ding near the binding in the cutaway you filled in. How'd that turn out?

  • @psychopauly

    just a little touch up

    worked out fine :)

  • Holy cow
