  • better sound please

  • Geez. I'm wondering where would be the improper sort of feedbacks.

  • For all of you dancers out there of a certain age is it possible for today's youngsters who listen to that horrible r and b music to hear the melodies in classical music

  • @elvispresley718 don't blame r & b because "youngsters" don't like ballet. everyone has different tastes. -_-

  • @NellChenoweth my point was if you can understand this is that r and b is not a melodic form of music and if you dont listen to melody when you are young you will not be able to hear it that's what all young white girls listen to and they are ignorant about real music get it?

  • @elvispresley718 you don't know what all "white" girls listen to. kids in general tend to lean more towards the popular music which is pop, rap, rock, and r & b. and there is nothing wrong with that. if people are interested in the classics, they will find it. i did.

  • @NellChenoweth you dumb bithc theyre not lisstening to pink floyd they dont have the attention span ot hear melody anymore. there is no melody in rap and ranb god are you stupid

  • Comment removed

  • @elvispresley718 i don't have any respect for someone who resorts to name calling. try to be more civilized next time and people might want to listen to you. bye.

  • @NellChenoweth listen if you dont know anything about music which is pretty obvious that would make you .. a dancer of course. just look at the way ballet accompanists are treated i rest my case go listen to some stupid ass gangsta rap

  • Were dancing Giselle for our spring performance!!!! :D

  • oh, i stopped breathing watching her! BEAUTY, that's what that is.

  • Maravilhosa *-*

  • A lovely performance!

  • I would give whole the rest of my life to dance Giselle

  • who is the dancer?

  • Beautiful! I love it. : )

  • This is absolutely beautiful =) i feel so guilty for giving up ballet =( i mean granted i'm 18 and could find a way to pick it up but~ah i'm so far behind...regardless =)))) this is amazing

  • Thumbs up! This is the great Natalya Bessmertnova!!!

  • the child is lovely.

  • i miss ballet...

  • sorry... stuck with alina...

  • @cjoyoates You know, it is very possible to find beauty and appreciate other dancers doing certain variations without comparing them to others. Instead of watching this with the mindset of "so and so's version is the best", maybe you can see the beauty of this video without dismissing equal quality work.

  • @bwoodsfinest Excuse you. I am entitled to my own opinion, thankyou very much. If you read my short comment you would have seen that I have never put down this dancer in anyway but doted on another based on personal preference.

  • @cjoyoates I don't care about what your opinion is. Yes you are entitled to it. That's not what I was saying. My point went over your head so I'll simplify. There's no need to compare dancers who are equal in quality. We should just appreciate what we say instead of say " I prefer so and so" when the video isn't even about "so and so".It's whatever though. People will continue to do it thought there isn't any point.

  • @bwoodsfinest I prefer Alina more. No, they are different people, and no they are not equal. They are both different. Let me explain, instead of acting like a stuck up teenager how about you go back to your ballet classes. You obviously have a long way to go.

  • @cjoyoates Little girl, I'm not even a teenager child. Stop confusing me for you girl. I believe they are equal in quality but this dancer has the edge. Your obviously to slow to understand what I was staying even though I broke it down for you.Forget it. What I was doing has nothing to do with your preference but clearly you lack the brain capacity to understand that. Forget it, if you couldn't get it then you'll never get it.

  • I am a teenager, and even though that is said, I love Ballet and this is my favorite of them all. The grace, the beauty, and the sorrow. I love it all and I will never give up Ballet

  • @memirou12 And even though I did give up ballet I will never stop loving it. :D

  • precision

  • She isn't graceful, or light on her feet at all.

  • @BalletTapJazz me think you need glasses :)

  • @Leirix61 Based on Alina Cojocaru, she just looks extremely grounded.

  • @BalletTapJazz you are right, that Cojocaru is one of the best Giselles i have watched. Bessmertnova was the ballrina of the 60th and 70th. Her style is completely different, kind of courtly :) Her diagonal is still the best i have a ever seen.

  • @BalletTapJazz I'd like to see you dance like that ;) she's very light on her feet and is very graceful

  • @memirou12 Compared to an Elephant!

  • @BalletTapJazz Are you watching the same video?

  • OK, SHE is Giselle..she is amazing, simply amazing!

  • she´s dancing like the spring itself...

  • Beautiful!

  • What is the name of the music??

  • @aevc92 This is Adam's "Giselle"

  • @aevc92 gissel music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I abosoultly love this! I love ballet, even though i'm not a dancer, it is SO beautiful to me! i watch this scene over and over again! So beautiful and amazing!

  • It is Bessemertnova.

  • How can it be Bessmertnova when this is the new Grigorevitch production? Which was just relayed in cinemas worldwide as a new production? I don't think the Bolshoi recycles the scenery and costumes in this way.

  • very good interpretation!

  • I'm soooo happy that she's so sensitive about the music. Some ballerina, even though their technique is superior, sometimes miss that split second. She does everything accurately and that makes me feel somewhat satisfied loool.

  • So beautiful.....

  • shes so beautiful.. :)

  • It's important in ballet to make it look like they're floating, and not showing how hard it accually is. But only just realize you have to take ballet lessons for quite a while to only be able to stand on spitzen!! (and that's an understatement) I think what she does is quite a thing, and i think she does it with great elegance.

  • C'est magnifique cette ballerine ! Merci ! :-)

  • Fabulous.

  • Eight slack-jawed morons were on here.

  • aahhh i wanted to take up ballet as a child - i still do - but my parents wouldnt let me for two reasons: one, they knew my body was too weak - two, they didn't want me getting ballerina feet D:

  • @Sennoko I understand your pain because mine were the same, but after learning that my mum was en pointe at 16 and seeing what happened to her feet and ankles I understand why. :D Still would have loved to be able to do it though. lol

  • That at 1:30 (around there, anyway) is ... wow. Amazing.

  • cheerfull giselle^.^

  • preciosoooooo!!!!!!!!!!

  • preciosoooooo !!!!!!!!!

  • Oh my god she dances so beautifuly!!

  • I love toehops!

  • This variation is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fn Hard! Well not that hard but still! Uggg!

  • very well done! I assume it is made with MoCap?

  • :) yeap

  • my girlfriend is named after this

  • i love it

  • i luv this variation! and she does it perfectly!

  • This is really creepy after watching wishing stairs

  • Comment removed

  • This is the divine Madame Natalia Bessmertnova-(RIP)-...Bolshoi's Prima.

  • not too bad...

  • cinthya tee amooooooo

  • there's something uncomfortable about her arms.. not as pretty as it could be

  • I think it is because her shoulders are up and also they are quite still and spikey fingered :P

  • I danced Giselle in a small production and when I watch her I find myself finding so many faults in my own dancing that I wish I could have fixed before the my performance. She is SO light!!!!!!!

  • She looks a lot like a student and not so much a proffesional. I'm not saying I can do better, but just that she doesn't look as good as many others who have performed this variation

  • i agree, not flowing!

  • Alessandra Ferri is better

  • people stop trying to find her faults all the time. i bet most of you cant do anything she can do.

  • @iBallerinaLovee neither can simon cowell. Not many people critisize him... Everybody has their opinions. If they are not offensive on a massive scale there is no harm in expressing them. :)

  • she's too nervous, she must relax her shoulders. it would make totally difference

  • i feel like shes trying TO HARD! the arms, the body language.... its just not flowing. ballet is about grace and beauty! yes doing it proper is important but beauty is what sells the variation.... no, heart and SOUL is what sells it!

  • i bet ytour not even a ballet dancer or you are just not any good.

seriously this is a professional ballerina

    get used to the professionals

  • that was... ok. But I've seen better.

  • the body lanuguage, the exercise and the passion are verything :)

  • I actually think I've seen more graceful and flowing arms in other ballerinas.

  • Excelente bailarina, un bello momento del act1 de Giselle, gracias por compartirlo.

  • Natalia Bessmertnova is the first dancer that i have ever seen and came to love her more and more.

  • I saw her Giselle in 1966 and loved it. She si one of the all time great Giselles and people(probably teenagers) making negative comments on her arms or stiffness have no conception of what ballet looks like. They are accustomed to third rate ballerinas that they think are great , that they have no idea what they are watching when they see a true ballerina.

  • I thought this video was absolutely lovely, and as a teenager, I definitely find your above statement offensive. Not all teenagers are as philistine as you make us sound. Just so you know, there are some of us out their who appreciate what a "true ballerina" looks like.

  • I happen to agree that there are many teenagers that are very knowledgeable.

My comment was in regard to previous comments(not by you) that basically thought Bessmertnova was an awful ballerina. Some of these statements were by teenagers and it is a fact of life in every field, that as you get older, you get more knowledgeable. When a teenager makes a comment that her arms are awful and that she has no grace and her movements do not flow, my comment is very justified.

  • @russianballetvideo sorry but how old are you if the 1966 you have seen gissele!!!!!!!

  • @russianballetvideo sorry but how old are you if the 1966 you have seen gissele!!!!!!!

    ok i was just kidding!

  • @russianballetvideo I agree. Also ballet has changed over time. How they danced in the 40's is different from the 50's, 60's 70's etc. While today young dancers strive for technique,it wasn't always about perfect turnout and multiple fouettes and pirouettes or high extensions in the beginning, it was about telling a story through dance and emotion. Today, for most dancers, artistry has given way to technique. You no longer see the emotion that was once in these ballets. So sad.

  • @bwoodsfinest I agree with your comment, despite your very young age. Fortunately, today there are less than a handful of dancers, where the emotions are expressed as well as any ballerinas that have ever lived. These ballerinas will go down as all time greats.

  • @russianballetvideo everybody has their own opinions. You cannot compare ballerinas from different times. ballerinas from, say, Margot Fonteyn, Vaslav Nijinski or Natalia Makarova's time can't be compared to Svetlana Zakahrova or Ulyana Lopatkina. Ballet has changed and evolved from then. This was great, I thoroughly enjoyed it, but then I say I actually prefer Zakharova's version. Everybody has their own opinions. :)

  • in ballet, age doesn't matter!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ballet is about art and dance, obviously!!!!!!!!!! As long as she has the character of Giselle, she is doing her ballerina job!

  • well .. i'm not against your comment.. but i'd still say that in ballet age does matter.. for ex i found out too late that the ballet lives in my heart so now i'm too old to go in any school :( i feel really sorry bout that.. so i just dance hip-hop and brake dance..

    However.. good video..

  • I mean the perfroming. If you are starting ballet when you are older, good luck with that. Me too started late when i was 10 and they invited me to dance in their company but i chose not to. Since i like RG most. If you are talented/potential go for it.

  • i think the fact that there is an "older" dancer being showcased shows something special about the character of this dance company...and i like it! if you're a strong dancer at 20...imagine how strong you could be near 30...or even 40. age totally matters..and the older you are..the more tough and determined you might be.....so enjoy this lady....she's not 20....she's experienced!

  • absolutely beautiful!! In my next life I would be blessed to achieve such perfection-

  • she's so beautiful! I only wish I could do it as well as she can.

  • WOW!!!

  • no she isn't.... I didn't see the whole video

  • Pardon me, but that's Natalia Bessmertnova in the title role.

  • thanks :)

  • is she svetlana zakharova?

  • Gorgeous technique! But I think she needed to look a little bit more carfree like Giselle.

  • i luv the ronde de jams enlair en pointe :P

  • wow this was beautiful!

  • so fast :( i am dance for giselle variatsone bat that is so fast :(:(:(:(

  • i went and saw that live, and she was beatiful, all eyes on her, and every one was watching with amazement!

    x

  • The dancing is beautiful. I love the costumes in Giselle, such a relief from stiff tutus.

  • muy bonito, aunque Yeira Genao lo baila mejor

  • what beautiful chaines!

  • was that bessmertnova?

  • yes

  • So pretty! I love this variation. We learned it in my variations class, and I appreciated watching it after being tired out after all those hops en pointe!

  • Muy bonitoo
