  • can i change back?

  • it dosnt work for me on the mac HD and the applications folder

  • mine doesnt work.... I get a white looking icon thing with the type of icon (.png .jpg etc)

  • @santoro2020 me too

  • this worked for me but then stopped :/ anyone know y? thanks

  • Nice pretty clear...

  • That Was Just Supa Gay

  • thank you :) very usefull ;)

  • i can't fucken do tha no matter what!! i even got programs to do that and i doesnt change!~

  • i tried that ind it makes it into a jpeg icon

  • @tubertwins i had that too, open the icon in preview, select it (like if you'd want to crop it) and then copy and paste

  • dude just use candybar!

  • GIVE ME YOUR WALLPAPER LINK ! I LOVE IT

  • works great! i was clueless on how to do this... thanks!

  • i cant paste it...it wont allow me 2

  • it doesn't work :-(

only the icon which type of file it is (like .icns)

  • Same here. I just get the "icns" file image. I'm using 10.5.6

  • i found the solution.

There is an app called "iconifier", this will help :-)

  • I found that the image must be a PNG, but I'll check that app out as well.

  • Me too.. :s Maybe it's because of Snow Leopard?

  • no, the solution is, that you copy any application in your app folder, open its package (u can call the app "icon", whatever) and replace the normal icon (Its under contents_resources), then go to information of this app and copy the icon there

  • But the icon I want to change is an external HDD! (; Do you know another way to do it?

  • as easy as that, either you do the instruction i told you at the bottom, go to the informations tab of the changed app, click the icon on the upper left until its in a blue frame, then press cmd + c, go to the HDD, click information, click the drive symbol on the upper left until its in this blue frame, press cmd + v, there ya go, one thing, this app advice, do it only if there's no other way, sometimes icons, if downloaded, will have the right preview, then you can directly copy it :-)

  • When I do that other ting with copying and pasting, the icon shows as a PNG icon, as other people have told.. :/ My icon right now is a 'Lacie' icon, which came up when I used the installer guide, first time I turned on the drive. I might reformat it with disk utillities, to make it show that firewire icon that I want..

  • ok, then open the terminal and type this:

    defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES

and press enter, then restart the finder.

    Then all files are shown

go to your drive and open it, there will be a drive icon (icns) file, that you can replae with any file you want :-)

  • It works - thank you so much! :D

  • no problem, if you want ur old icon back, go to the drive, click this small preview in the upper left and press backspace

  • where can i donwload those icons and which filetype do they have

  • The iMac icons in this video can be found by googling 'iMac Generations V2' - All OS X icons are PNG format.

  • cool, i found them in:

    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Recources

  • @dj5dog Which size did you use on the icons

  • I love your accent baby ; )

  • Dude! This was SO easy. All those other instructions just never worked but this was the best!

    Thanks

  • thank yu.

  • so easy

  • it doesn't work for me :( i just get the icon logo

  • i do get it, too!

  • do you know how i can make any old picture an icon? 'cos when i make a jpeg image the icon its just the jpeg icon and not the actual image

  • THANNKSS

  • This helped me so much

  • i know eh, it was driving me crazy trying to make that work

    Great video mate

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Your vids are awesome but do you autorefresh or something because your view counts are crazy high and you hardly have any subscribers compared to your views.

  • no I dont, I'm not really sure why the views are so high in comparison to subscribers, I do post the videos to my blog and twitter which does probably get a few of the views, but I dont really know

  • Yeah but if you did post to twitter you would see twitter in the stattistics and data box under 'sites linking to this video"

i know because it does that with me

  • great tip thanks!
