  • guest2424. This system is a 10' x 10' x 10' cube so that the user is totally immersed in the virtual reality experience. It is rear projected on all 6 screens with about a 4000 x 4000 pixel resolution.

  • @machgt sounds expensive

  • Have they started making the screens with a wider view then the human field of view? The reason VR isn't getting anywhere, is the last time i checked it out, they use little screens that is like looking at a TV in a black room, and i can do that if i turn all my lights out at home.

If the viewer is unable to see anything that isn't the image/video/movie/game/etc, then and only then can the user feel immersed in a new reality. Seeing a thick black border prevents that. Any borders = epic fail.

  • Also, if the user has to look at an external screen, than your simply wearing 3D glasses which is not Virtual Reality and is nothing new.

  • @guest2424 FullCon Solutions works with 6 Sided CAVE technology at Duke University (DIVE) and VRAC at Iowa State. These systems/rooms are large enough to house 3-5 people comfortably for an extended period of time. Both locations are rear projected, Duke uses Christie projectors (1) per side, while Iowa Stat is using Sony projectors (4-4K's per side)

  • Thanks King Abdullah
