If you look closely you will see that when the conductor is on the platform and Alan Titchmarsh welcomes everybody to the last night of the proms, the rail behind the conductor is not decorated (same as when the music stops). but when the music is in full swing it is. The prommers are actually bobbing up and down to Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance March No1 (Land of Hope and Glory) which is a prom tradition. The video uses footage from both halves of the last night with the music synched over.
On close inspection, they are not really playing that, plus I don't remember it on the Last Night programme, but it's very cleverly edited nonetheless! They should play sometime during the Proms season this year as a tribute to Bob Holness - someone should suggest it to Roger Wright.
@Nogli what's 'aristocratic' about Prommers? The place is packed, please note, and there aren't enough 'aristos' to fill the House of Lords any more. They're dressed up in their best bib and tucker because it's a massively important occasion in the 'classical' music world, which is not the preserve of 'aristos' and hasn't been for at least 100 years.
@LuciadiLamamoor Ha ha. Yeah, you're right I chose the wrong word, and it's a huge stereotype. It was just the first 'upper class' word to come to mind having watched The Aristocrats.
well done for synching the blockbusters theme to what looks like the orchestra playing Pomp and Circumstance No1by Elgar. Thats usually what the promenaders bob up and down to.
Nice try... took my trained eye a few seconds to realise the ruse, but there's several scenes where the conducting doesn't match the music and the musician's movements don't match what I'm hearing, audio lag or not. Nice to see you caught a few bites though!
@wrexham1983 I agree with you, why is everyone believing that this was played at the Proms. I have a similar version of this, played by the LSO from around 20 years ago..
@bradbeaver If you want a copy of the track, send me a wee e-mail, (jpbeaver2006@yahoo.co.uk) and I will email you the track. It is played alongside Highway.
A superb tribute RIP Bob

@wrexham1983 How can a comment questioning someone's accusation that the whole audience is gay, be homophobic in itself?
It was obvious even to the blind that my comment is tackling his use of the word.

I've no idea what those weirdoes in the audience were doing, but it most certainly wasn't an officially sanctioned hand jive.

@MrBacktothenineties It was not played at the Last Night - Listen to Alan Tichmarsh's commentry at the end of it - No mention of Blockbusters.
