Simply the best the track off of the best Christian album of all-time. A lot of great Christian music has been produced over the past 22 years but none compares to this
Wow what memories as a teen. At the time had a christian meeting on the evils of backmasking in pop music, so had to ditch Madonna and Amy replaced her for quite a while haha..... but her songs had power too. Just listening now brings back same feelings
*** This was my very first exposure to ContemporaryChristian Music after I was saved. And still one of my all-time favourates. I wish Amy would redo this again now...re-release it!
@earthalien77 She did! She released the Lead Me On 20th Anniversary edition in 2008 and even did a tour to promote it with the original tour band members. Included on the anniversary edition is an acoustic version and a live version from her original 1988 tour. You can find it in music stores or online.
Wonderful and meaningful song :) But after reading these comments, I have a question for all of the Christian bashers and Jesus bashers... Do you really think that your hateful comments are going to change our beliefs? You can continue to post, and we will continue to pray for you, but you will never change our beliefs with your rude, hateful and often ignorant comments.
I'm actually Atheist, but I enjoy this song quite a lot. I like how it not only includes Christian beliefs but Jewish beliefs. Wonderful message to it as well.
Are you serious? She has sold millions of Christian albums. Christian music was her foundation, her launching pad. There would be no hits if she hadn't broken through with Jesus music. I don't think she would consider it a waste.
Uhh, i think she only made one or two non Christian albums, and even those had Christian songs on them (For example on her most famous Pop album Heart In Motion there were songs like "Hope Set High").
The only reason she even released Heart In Motion as a non-Christian album is because the Christian labels thought it sounded too secular and wouldn't publish
it.
Make no mistake this "awesome singer" you like is a Christian singer.
My Favorite Amy Grant song from my favorite album of hers. Love this song and the hope it brings for Gods direction through all the trials of life to the blessed hope at the end where we shall experience no more sorrow or pain and instead only the love, joy and happiness of Heaven in the presence of the Lord.
Whats great about songs like this is it reminds me of the place I was at and the peace in my life when I first heard it and felt it and lived it. I felt led then, I feel led now, and I know that peace, like a river, will lead me on forever.
Nice song, nice video, nice Christian sentiments. This video reminds me of a quote from another Christian leader, Pope St. Pius X:
"My hope is in Christ, who strengthens the weakest by His Divine help. I can do all in Him who strengthens me. His Power is infinite, and if I lean on him, it will be mine. His Wisdom is infinite, and if I look to Him counsel, I shall not be deceived. His Goodness is infinite, and if my trust is stayed in Him, I shall not be abandoned.
~Love you Amy!! This was the very first contemporary Christian song I ever heard. It was truly like breathing fresh air to hear this, after coming out of a dark world of drinking and bars. This song, and many of her others, helped me to keep going in life and to keep believing.
really guys, those of you who believe there was nothing and then it exploded, making the earth, AND THEN if you actually believe we evolved from a pile of dirt , you are very wrong... i'd rather believe in a loving caring God who made us
It's a kind of hyperbole to say that if god doesn't exist, then nothing makes sense. Making up a huge fairy tale to answer a huge unknown is an easy way to get an answer, but only if you like believing in fairy tales. I can get a 2-year old to tell me the answer to a calculus problem, but I doubt the answer will be correct-yet it's still an answer. Without the certainty of god, lots of stuff still makes sense..but perhaps the explanations are a bit more complex; and life is still wonderful!!
its at the end of your life when all of this fairy tale will become frighteningly real-then what? too late to make a decision at that point-you missed your chance. "Seek after the Lord while He may be found" = while you're still alive. We are not even promised to be alive 2 minutes from now... I'm praying for ya buddy
I remember listening to this song before I could speak. The words meant nothing to me then, but now they are the basis of my beliefs in God. No matter how much stuff I've been through, or my friends, I know everything will turn out right in the end. Go Amy! You rock!
He who blesses Israel I will bless, He who curses Isreal I will CURSE, Keep your forked demonic tounge behind your teeth I REBUKE you vile spirit in JESUS NAME!
Exactly patsaxon (you rock), the song is written such you do not have to be a Christian to enjoy it. It's a well written song sung beautifully by someone who just happens to be Christian. Enjoy the lyrics in your own right and apply as you see fit. That is what the artist most likely intends. Never seen her judge anyone!
Good point. But I truly believe it is harder to believe that God doesn't exist than that he does. Open your eyes and look at the complexity of nature- the proof in His Word (the dead sea scrolls, etc.) I, myself, am a scholar and would never believe in something just because I was "told" to, or because I thought it made some sense.
I will tell you this. Seek the truth and you will find it! That is God' s promise!
Feel free to email me or add me. I'd love to talk with you more.
If any Christian boy wasn't thinking about bending over Amy Grant and playing hide the salami with her, he was probably gay. What a natural beauty. Too bad she got hooked into that cult religion, although I commend her for her efforts to get away from those sickos.
The "Chosen People" are having Christians slaughter Palestinians for them so they can steal their land. Jesus will be so happy about that when He returns because Jesus said property and ownership is everything. Aren't you dumb Christians tired of being wrong all the time? Go burn some Amy Grant CDs or Dixie Chicks CDs.
I suppose those abolitionist Christians were wrong too? So, do you simply pick and choose what truth to believe in according to it's convenience , or does that take too much courage?
Following The Law will always be the correct way of conducting one's self in God's eyes. Unfortunately too many think their viewpoint, influenced by the country in which they were raised, is correct. Why else would most everyone among this country's Bible believing population not see that the 2nd chapter of Acts, where everyone gave according to their ability or received according to their need, reads like the Communist Manifesto. And Roman rule was just as money/power driven as our own.
Which law? Leviticus or Deutoronomy? The law is different in each (Wear any blended fabrics?). I agree with your second point, but Paul was not Jesus. And I don't think anyone is really Bible believing. Sell all that you have and give it to the poor ... haven't seen it yet. Still God is God (or not, in which case nothing matters) despite us. And hopefully S/He will lead us. And hopefully S/He heard the prayers of those in the trains, in the fields, etc. Otherwise, nothing makes sense.
Sell all that you have and give it to the poor ... haven't seen it yet.
One thing you miss is the fact that Jesus knew the heart of the rich young ruler. Jesus knew that his earthly riches meant more to him than Jesus did. We are all called to sacrifice something. In this case it was the young mans riches
Amy Grant has been an enormous inspiration in my life as I am certain in all our lives by her music. I think that this song was inspired by the Holocaust. "Waiting for the train, Labelled with a golden star, Heavy-hearted boarding, Whispers in the dark, Where are we going? Is it very far? Bitter cold terrain, Echoes of a slamming door, Chambers made for sleeping forever." Beautiful song.
I've been an Amy fan for over 15 years, and this song is at the top of my list of favorites by her, no question. Thanks Sparrow Records for putting this up (though I have a DVD with this video also).
The second part with the "waiting for the train labeled with a golden star" that whole section, I thought about the Holocaust and hwo they had to wiat for the train and wonder "Where are we going?" you know?...GREAT SONG!!!
This song reminds me of the plight of the many people the US has rendered (kidnapped) and shoved into to the concentration camp Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to be tortured without ever having been accused of a crime, without ever having been given the right to speak to a lawyer, without habeas corpus, to be forced into a confession for something that they may never have done. Some of them are even children. God, please deliver them from this nasty misguided Bush regime.
Spoken like a true Christian. That's why you people need to go fuck yourselves in addition to the inbreeding you already engage in. :) Jews are our enemies. You have been deceived. They killed Jesus, and now they have dumb Christians killing Muslims and building new homes for them in Israel. Jesus would be real happy about that, right?
In addition to your ignorance of God's Word, mam, you could, also, use some lessons in the English language and a course in tact - the latter of which you are completely lacking. Any more comments like the aforementioned will be reported to the authorities.
The Jews gutted Jesus like a pig. For that, I am grateful. :) I just don't appreciate all their hate and killing on God's land. And yes, make no mistake about it, Israelis are doing the butchering. The Muslim body count backs me up. Report that to the authorities. :)
I'm truly sorry for anyone having to carry such deep hatred in their hearts. I I don't know how anyone could bear it, but I do know the One who bore it on the cross. Lead on, dear Lord, and help me to see past the anger and understand the pain instead. Amy, Keep singing - Lead me on, Lord!
Believe what you will, but it is stated that the Jews are Gods chosen, along with anyone who chooses to follow Him. Israel will never fall, although when it loses its way, well, they stumble, but they are Gods favored children. Any who oppose Israel, woe be to them!
Bush and Cheney need to be tried for crimes against humanity and hung if found guilty. The people of the world need to let the leaders of the world know that they are not above the law. Jesus died for individual people, not for systems of injustice.
