It's part of the idea where you try to raise the next generation into holding all life sacred; excessive killing in cartoons can damage those ideals.

That and I'd rather have my kids (if I had any) watch programs where the fear of death isn't the driving factor. The darker themes can be reserved for teenagers, who already realize that the world isn't as safe as they used to think when they were smaller.

Let the kids have their illusion of safety and they'll grow up into better adults.
