im talking lessons again after taking tap and ballet it for 6 years! i quit when i was like 9 and now im 14 and im getting back into it. its so difficult bkz im in the younger class since i have to relearn alot and catch up to dancers my age. hopefully it doesn't take to awful long!
tapping in socks is much different from tapping in tap shoes but it is definitely a good way to start if you can't get a hold of shoes and you still want to learn. Just make sure you're on a hard floor so you can hear if your feet are making the sounds or not.
In England that would be a tap step heel too. A flap is similar. A flap is a fast foot fall incorporated with a tap before yout foot lands flat. Like a lazy horse walk but with a tap in. I'm sure you know what I mean . Ok my tap dancing son says a flap is a forward tap with a stamp done in two beats (fast). He is 21.Like you say depends where you are probably, studios etc or country. Not worth an argument though people. Agree to disagree and enjoy the dance.
Corrention cjaybishop... It has always been known as a FLAP HEEL... some studios have differnt names for differnt steps and moves... I have never heard of "tap step heel" but maybe that is what your studio calls it!
your useing heels like for partys but u still did a great job
