he was a legend best film ever. His acting was effortless "MOTTO OF THIS STORY DIE ON YOUR FEET OR LIVE ON YOUR KNEES"Some people you just can't lock up?
@etks1957 so true brother..i never get sick of this film.....its almost like theirs soooo many analogies and quirky symbolisms in this movie...i love it so much dude!!!!
god damn seems like back in 1960s movies were better than now !!!!
this film is the icon of icons so many things became cinema course the one every one remembers is the car wash thyats more horny than any porno film ive ever seen. but this is the original classic
I don't think thats the complete ending. I vaguely remember watching this movie as a kid with my dad (His favorite movie) and that big guy was telling the other prisoners about that night.
God bless you - this movie is older than you, but you recognize it for what it is. I think the "big guy" is George Arthur -not sure, but he certainly deserved an award for this character.
Love that scene in the abandoned church when Luke talks to God. "You made me like I am. Just where am I supposed to fit in?" Man, that speaks volumes, even now. And it's not forced in any way. It just comes natural.
He was smiling... That's right. You know, that, that Luke smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn't know it 'fore, they could tell right then that they weren't a-gonna beat him. That old Luke smile. Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker. ~ Dragline
R.I.P. Paul Newman - the world will surely miss you!!
What are the odds of someone posting this? I have a paper to write discussing the christ figures in this movie and the book one flew over the coocoo's nest, and when I rented the movie I watched up until this very point where the dvd was completly scratched, at this EXACT part. So now I can finish the movie... like wow... thank ya ;)
He should have won the Oscar for this.

What a film! Never get tired of watching this one. What a cast! Fantastic. Paul Newman was so cool. He and Brando were in a class by themselves.

"May my weary soul find release for a while
At the moment of death I will smile"
This movie is a true classic, I hope Paul Newman smiled even in his moment of death. Rest in Peace Paul!
