I'ts sad now they no longer have the Easter races at Bathurst......I went there a few times....towards the end, the shit was caused by bully-boy police officers....drunken patch wearers and media rabble that helped incite the trouble.....particularly the the bastards from channel 7 who stirred up a lot of shit just so they could some news for the TV....
It was finally canned..... those of us who went there for the racing were the big losers in the end.
The bike is a GSX 1100 SUZUKI NOT Denis neils Honda , if you watch 1981 Bathurst Easter weekend races you will see it all, even see a Honda flip going up mountain straight at over 200 km , think it might of been Denis Neil who flipped or his team mate , check it out awesome bike race for people who love to see the old bikes in action
AWESOME!! Thanks for sharing mate! Can you believe they raced those bloody things? 18' pushbike tyres, flexi frame and the weight of a Massey Ferguson! Crikey we are spoilt now!
Just letting you know that I am expecting the television production shot at Bathurst NSW, for the "Bikes are Back at Bathurst, Easter 2000 event," to be released on DVD by Christmas 2010 for all you Rev Heads!
Yes and Malcolm Campbell, Andrew Johnson, Ken Blake, Vaughan Coburn, Roger Hayes, Dennis Neil etc, etc. Gardner did not ride the CBX1000 in the 6 hour but did win on the CB1100R in 1980. The CBX proved too heavy, wore tyres and lacked ground clearance although Crosby did qualify a CBX 1000 No.1 in 1978 but then he made bikes go fast that shouldn't. Gardner did well at Oran Park and other tracks in the Coca Cola superbike? series before moving to the Brotish Superbike series and on to 500 gp.
Nah, those guys are crazy. There is a long and distinguished list of dead guys who have found their limit. Which was the concrete wall. Two who died in a side car crash at McPhillamy park. Why do you think they don't race bikes there anymore?
The reason they don't race bikes there anymore is because Australia was finally granted a round of the World Championship so no sponsorship money was left to fund Bathurst at Easter. That's why.
@StockStandardTZ I read somewhere while i was in Bathurst last october that motorcycles don't race there anymore because they aren't allowed to race anywhere with concrete walls due to rider safety. Either way, i'd love to see bikes at Bathurst one day...
@Diptwankynard I had the pleasure of watching the Aussie Superbikes race there in 2000. It was billed as the first race in about 20 years of bikes there. But you rae right they arnt allowed to race there now due to saftey because of the closeness of concrete walls, there is no runoff. Pity noone told them about Isle man TT.

Fantastic!!! I loved this event, and went until the NSW government canned it, back in the 80's. Thanks for the memories.

Dennis Neill is one of the nicest most genuine guys you could ever meet but, put a helmet on him and a superbike under him and he grew horns.

those guys are crazy

Crazy is the wrong word. They are riding motorcycles quickly but within their limits. Skilled is the word.
