Whenever I sincerely ask a NZ'r how their accent evolved, being an Aussie they all just get their back up & say that bullshit myth they use simply as a defence mechanism, that Aussies don't know how to pronounce their vowels correctly.
So I thought about it,
& thought about it...
& thought about it & realised that it was just an urban myth they want to believe cause of one simple truth:
While every other English speaking country has 5 vowels:
A, E, I, O & U
Kiwi's only have 3:
EI, EI, EI, O & U
