Why thread a part like that? Don't get the wrong idea, I'm impressed by how you've done it, I just don't understand why.

it is common in ornamental turning to make a big piece by assembly several small ones that are threaded together. The threads make it simpler to remount a part and mitigate errors when a mistake is made
