This is the only time that I have ever given an Ian Crossland video 1 star
Don't discourage drinking, I honestly like how this is legal and marijuana isn't. Sure, it can be bad for health issues and other issues if it is abused, but I honestly feel that marijuana users effect our country a lot worse that alcoholics.
When you smoked weed, you can get serious mental issues that can scar you for life, it happened to me
Also, marijuana smokers are a lot lazier and have worse work performance
i totally agree. i love all of wht yu said. i was jus thinkn abut how the orginal purpose of utube got lost, we post wht we want and react n stuff. i wish the rest of the world wud own up 2how alcohol does not gud. i knw so many ppl sai it make me "feel bettr" no the hell it doesnt bcuz u wudnt have to keep drinkn, ugh..ending my tangent....
This is not really a comment on this video, but I really like that you look into the camera and you have very nice eyes. They make you look sincere and genuine. 5/5*
Also, I agree with what you said about videos. It shouldn't be about popularity. Youtube should be about communication and inspiring people and being inspired by others.
I don't think alcohol is a good thing. I think it would be better if people were to try to find other ways to deal with life if they feel stressed. Also, if people use alcohol to loosen up and feel more comfortable around others, maybe they should focus on what is making them feel uncomfortable in the first place rather than turning to alcohol.
Interesting POV brother, cant say I agree altogether but hey thats the great thing about opinion huh. I'll try to sling together a video response over the weekend and hey you've caught my interest, not many have so I'm subscribing. Well done.
(part 2) as for alcohol..yes its addictive yes it kills yes it dilutes ur thoughts and emotions yes i do believe this can be the destruction for man kind..not only is it unhealthy when overly consumed...but it also alters ur state of mind...ur cautious mind..ur thoughts...ur emotions tend to be more free when consumed with alcohol...while when being sober its harder to speak ur true emotions...but at least ur thoughts are clear...peace
(part 1)thedakkstar..he kept mentioning this particular vid in his videos..so i thought i take a look....i have similar views on alcohol/entertainment. i dont think entertainment will necessarily kill or destruct humanity..but it does strip you from 'time'. time is one thing that you cant have back..nothing productive comes out of wasting away hours in front of a tv or on the net...this is an addiction...
I think you have issues. Whether they be family/friend related or unhappy with yourself/life. Those have hindered your experience with alcohol or you're just inexperienced with it. Alcohol is about moderation and knowing ones limits, if that's ignored then the alcohol isn't to blame, YOU are. In general, alcohol is FUN. It's a distraction but what in life isn't? You're using alcohol as an excuse for whatever problems you have. Get your life together and stop using scapegoats
Alcohol provides illusion that the body and mind are in harmony. Unfortunately it fools the head. The body soon stops processing its own reactions to worldly information. Study the origins of theatre. It has gone from expressions of nature and the spirit connection as a sameness, to expressions of decay and modern aberration as a sameness. From something to behold, to something that must move us. You see? Move us to desire,to fear, to loathing, to opinion. To feel anything through our denial.
Totally agree about alcohol. Our country (UK) has a serious alcohol problem. What's known as binge drinking. In this country most people cant wait till it's friday. This is the time virtually the whole nation gets pissed(drunk)down the pub.You in America have an age limit of 21 ,in the UK its only 18. What's worse is that most drinking establishments don't even ackowlege this limit. Over half of 15 year olds have been drunk in the past month according to statistics.
Its good to see that there are a few people out there with a good head on their shoulders. If people didn't make so much money off of Alcohol {the government included), it would no doubt be illegal. Just the amount of health problems and related deaths should be enough, you would think.
I tried to watch, got about 7 minutes in, until I was thoroughly convinced that either you have no idea what you are talking about or you are just jerkin our chains.
Also most entertainment is shallow, trite and distrcating diversions from conscious thought. But some forms of entertainment - like maybe your vid for eg - are informative, or educational or simulate conscious thought and debate about certain issues relevant to our day to day real lives and the state of our societies. Unlike alcohol or drugs which don't have any potential to spark meaningful intelligent thought or sensible debate.
You're right alcohol is the lagel drug and by it's legality it is accepted and used. But I view cannibis as just as bad because even though it remains officially illegal the social acceptance of it is almost as prevelant as alcohol and in fact most people believe it shouldn't be illegal and it's their duty to keep toking. I also love the people how people who smoke weed to get drunk talking about how bad alcohol is. Both are just as bad.
You basically summed up my thoughts on alcohol. I view it as a legal drug -- and in moderation, it's fine. But when you excessively drink rather than doing hobbies you once loved, etc, there's a problem.
I'm not sure if I'm on the same page as you with entertainment. Sure, anything to the extreme isn't good. Moderation is key. But I also think it's important to take breaks from work + stress and relax. A lot of people don't have friends they can go out with at every whim.
It's not just alcohol. Half the population is on mood altering drugs. The problem is not the substance or the addiction but what it is that drives people to the escapism they offer.
People are too weak to stand up to life really. i don't think that is a natural state, but it is a chosen one. whatever numbs us to the hard stuff of living life..being able to experience life to the max.
I agree with you - it isn't the substance that is the problem - the problem is that society has made it acceptable for a person to hide from their problems/emotions/life in general. The substance is just the gateway.
Hi there, this country once tried doing something about alcohol, it was called Prohibition, 70 years later we're still dealing with the aftermath of that experiment. Do we really want to go back down that same path, especially when you can make your own at home?
Hey boy scout, I am combining excessive alcohol and entertainment even as I type this. How about this for ballance, this weekend (right now) I'm going to see how many hours I can stay sober. So far zero. My early prediction, twelve. I'm not hating, everybody can have an opinion. Just lighten up. Go have a beer or twelve and watch a movie marathon.
People die from crossing the street, and that is still legal. This is what you think is the two "banes of our existance"? Now, your personal encounters with these things are appreciated, but you are dumping empirical ideas onto a subjective situations.
Crossing the street may be a problem if one were to do it for 4 hours straight without looking in either direction. In moderation, nothing is a problem.
The problem with entertainment and alcohol is the addictive quality and the ease with which we have to get them.
The general public are not smart enough to control alcohol. I think there should be a written test. LOL Ahh what kind of an odd world it would be if I were in control. I'd probably ask for a written test before parenting as well knowing me.
Firstly great vlog. Very thought provoking. Alcohol and mindless entertainment can indeed become some of the worst of vices. Like you say the key (as I think with everything) is balance. I get really plastered about once a month I guess to feed the part of me that seeks the obvious escapism that alcohol brings. But I am aware even in that limited consumption that it exists for me purely as a vice.
Another way to phrase the question is, how many hours per day are you hypnotized?
TV saps your mental alertness and places you in a suggestible state. If that were not so, TV commercials would not command such high prices; neocons would not be so interested in taking over media channels were it not for its actual effect on viewers.
My TV has been off now for nearly 5 years. It'll stay off.
I think one problem with the surplus of entertainments and diversions is that people tend to live vicariously, finding their involvement and adventure in the show instead of creating it in some way in their own lives, to give themselves a sense of purpose
--continued--That's what's so "great" about these structures and routines we've set up around entertainment and booze: they are easy to do and usually somewhat satisfying. That is the lure, along with the advertising blitzes and accessiblity. Clarity of mind just leads to questions and thinking about life, which is hard and emotionally taxing, so why not just relax and go with the flow? Crack a beer, put your feet up, put your mind to sleep. Easy!
For me and my family (6 of us), TV has been a way to bond; we come home from our respective days and flip it on, be entertained, talk, laugh together, etc. and it's great to have those positive experiences while unwinding a bit after work/school... ha ha then after TV and dinner my brothers and sister and I will go smoke the pot or have a few beers, (my little brother who is 18 has a mini-fridge stocked with cold MGD at all times)... it's fun and easy.
Entertainment and Drugs are often used by people to drown out the horrible realization of the slavery of our lives as 'modern' humans. We've been reduced to 'human resources' and routine. Our lives have become so much more complex. But at the same time, worthless. When I travel,I only feel really shimmering alive then. No TV, no escapes. Just living "experiences" day after day.
I think that people are battling fear and boredom as they go through their daily lives. Escapism seems to neutralize both states of mind but ends up doing little more than retarding the growth of an individual.
I don't think that's true. Otherwise we wouldn't be drawn to the more immersive forms of entertainment. There's something about us that desires alter-egos in a false world.
I think it feels good. People say thats a fake sense. It feels good ....for example. like after you left me and bishop talked about everything. I had a good time but bishop i guess felt like crap when he got off stickam but i pass out so i dunno.
---Right before I pass out
I did feel worse but I was like man im just having a false sense of feeling like shit. Right before I pass out ... I didn't let it get to me.
Personaly I'm disturbed by how wrapped up people get in the lives of entertainment celebrities. They'll read books and magazines about them, watch TV shows about them, spend time with other people who also obsess on the lives of these actors. There's not space here to even go into it. It's a whole other layer of socialy acceptable strangeness.
Yes but Rome flourished for over 300 years after the games at the Colloseum began. We may have another 250 years or so for our various forms of entertainment to evolve. One can only imagine what that might mean.
Rome didn't have the ease we have in the exchange of ideas or information either. Once it reaches the tipping point, the ease we have in which to do these things is going to move it along even faster. The French, Russian or American Revolutions may have come even faster had they been able to communicate as easily as we do. Not a prediction so much as a thought.
Rome. All I have to say is Rome. The people of Rome went to watch the games while the city and empire went to ruins. We're doing it now. All of our little reality tv shows might not be as brutal, but the concpepts the same. Put the worst of humanity on display, and people will become so enraptured in it, everything else turns into white noise in the background. We're amusing ourselves to death as a nation.
Yes I think you are right. And within that entertainment, the state can try and tell us anything they want about the state of affairs in our lives. Scary thing is, some people start to really believe what they are told.
also I wanna say I really like your video's and how you expres your opinion. I just subscribed a couple of days ago and I'm going through some of your older ones too. Some of the things you say really get me thinking, thank you^^
you just pointed out some things I was really confused about in my head. a few people have been suggesting I drink less cause they saw me drinking more and more for the last couple of months. almost every time I drink there happen good things but there also happen alot of bad things. I have been thinking about quiting drinking alcohol for a month, to see if I can still have fun without it and if less bad things will happen. after seeing this vid I really think I should do it.
The potential benefit that wine may offer to the heart needs to be balanced with the fact that alcohol is a known carcinogen (cancer causing substance). Also there is evidence that the cardiovascular benefits of red wine are also available from red grape juice since they both contain the chemical resveratrol which reduces blood clots.
Moderation is the key word here. Abuse of anything is harmful. Alcohol, like anything else, is bad for you. However, a glass of red wine each evening has been shown to be actually good for the heart and circulation...Although I understand your point on abuse of the legal poison.
That's true RiverMark. Although I think that Ian was trying to emphasize that the accessibility of alcohol plus its highly frequent portrayal in the media as the "in" legal chemical make it particularly dangerous.
But sex, food, violence, etc. are also accessible and frequently portrayed by the media as absolute necessities that people seem to gorge themselves on. My point is the obsession to "have it all" has erupted into a massive grab for anything and everything that is on "the table." And, the conventional attitude seems to be, "I'm entitled to take whatever I can get." It seems we are are on a freely chosen path to destruction...
You really could say everything, at an obsessive level, is dangerous and counterproductive, not just alcohol and entertainment. What about eating animal flesh, what about eating, what about working, sleeping, sex, helping others? Any time we go from exploring a passion to obsessing over one, it becomes problematic. It seems people have lost their way in maintaining balance as they greedily attempt to bombard their senses in *hopes* of "feeling good" from one moment to the next.
Those are powerful thoughts Ian. Our livers convert alcohol into a poisonous molecule called acetyldehyde. This molecule attacks every organ of our body. I drink no alcohol 364 days of the year. On my birthday I satisfy my curiousity by having 2 glasses of wine. The nice thing is that I get 364 days of clear thinking and healthy living.
What a fucking boring idiot. I stopped it after 30 seconds. Try harder to be interesting next time you fucking asshole. Does anyone know how you give something zero stars? I had to give one, which i found dramatically over-rated my opinion of this tat.
anyone may have his/her own opinion ... as you do .. but why the usage of words like in your comment ... just say you don't like it and why not .. and that's it! :)
Kadinkski. Your probably annoyed because your a drunk. Like most English people. You can't face the fact that you probably can't function without alcohol. This guy was just giving his opinion. show some respect you piece of shit.
I've always thought it ironic that "alcohol" is one of the relatively few words English has derived straight from Arabic. Yet no Koran-believing Arab would touch the stuff!
Jesus, on the other hand, identified His very blood with it. I think what you're talking about in your video is more the abuse of alcohol, than alcohol as such. Most people ingest it with little harm, regarding it a pleasant social lubricant.
Your right, entertainment is diversion... and every time I spend some playing games and whatnot instead of doing something productive I feel like shit. It's hard to change, i suppose though
I have nothing else to say, other than that it hit home. Entertainment is the silent killer. you're right! Entertainment is the free drug that kills the average persons productivity and creatitivity.
You speak of the human race, but I think you're talking about the specific problems of American society, not of the human race. Entertainment is dangerous not only in that it provides a mind-numbing escape, but it also makes folks think and act like they live in a fantasy world. Entertainment causes restlessness and dissatisfaction with real life, and it destroys creativity.
there are many things that "paralyze us as a human race" ian... too many things really... i bet if you thought about this a week from now you'd probably draw a new conclusion... it's just the nature of the beast...
These days there isn't much to do that doesn't cost you in one way or another. To be sober and bored means to be open to hurt and reality, people aren't ready for that, not when they coud instead get doused and spend their nights (sometimes days) in a blur of unquestioningly blurred lights and faces.
Alcohol and entertainment... okay I've watched a ton of your vlogs and as exploring one's self and the emotions and the pain and relief of it all seems to be your theme, this is a very fitting subject. Although these things (alcohol, entertainment) may be dangerous, you must consider the reasons for doing them- you said it "to pass time".
I don't think entertainment is so bad. Everything people do is for entertainment. I write to entertain myself, I make videos to entertain myself, I hang out with friends to entertain myself...without entertainmeny there is nothing. Life is boring.
Alcohol has just become too common, though. It is expected that to have any sort of fun you had to drink or do some sort of drugs. I went to a football game at my school, and was goofing around and automatically I was high. I was dancing at homecoming and automatically I was drunk. I don't do drugs or drink. Also, people not only die from alcohol, but kill while under it. So, even innocent people suffer. It's just not a good thing altogether.
So, entertainment is dangerous, and yet you're an actor? And... if we stop filling up our time with entertainment we should... go be un-entertained because it's more fulfilling? And you want to change the world somehow through YouTube, and yet your videos are only for you? :) Sometimes you boggle my mind, Ian.
I think it was mostly too much entertainment is dangerous. If you spend all your time watching TV then you are missing out. If devote your life to one type of entertainment it's not good. It's not that we should go un-entertained it's just that we shouldn't become obsessed with our entertainment.
I also think that making his videos on here to change the world can be only for him, because he wants to change the world so he makes videos to try and change the world without simply making the videos to entertain people.
Agreed. but I think too much entertainment is just an example of addictions/obsessions being unhealthy. I believe that anything in excess is dangerous. But I can see it from his perspective as an actor, because he himself thinks about it a lot. As a graphic designer, of course I think about advertising/marketing all the time and so I naturally consider it dangerous if handled incorrectly.
And sometimes alcohol leads to entertainment. Like the time in high school when I got drunk and accidentally pissed on an electric fence (I did not think this was entertainment, but my buddies did). Alcohol is poison and is legal; marijuana clears our minds and makes us feel at one with everything...and is ILLEGAL. Hmmm...not a coincidence...
Marijuana definitely isn't as harmful (or harmful at all) as alcohol but I definitely don't think it's a way to "clear your mind and feel at one with everything." There are other ways to do that.
Yeah, that's true. And there are other ways to do that...smack, blow...KIDDING!! Just kidding! :D Actually, I gave up smoking weed years ago. But I don't see why it's illegal, even though it is less dangerous than alcohol, cigarettes, or our nation's spinach...
I don't think it should be illegal either. However, in terms of Ian's argument about alcohol, mind-altering substances are mind altering substances - an escape. what makes alcohol "dangerous" but pot ok?
'Cause I like pot! I do pot, so if I do it, it's not 'dangerous'. But if others drink, then that's bad... :D Sorry, just being a smartass. But you bring up a good point. If you use ANYTHING--alcohol, pot, cheese doodles--as an ESCAPE and is therefore abused...then, yeah, that's "dangerous". Thanks for the clarification!

Peter7777t 5 years ago
Perhaps, we are drawn to the more immersive forms of entertainment because we expect something new, something unexpected.
Wolfgang70 5 years ago
What is it in humans that desires escapism so much?
PaulSquall 5 years ago
It is the recognition of repetition.
Wolfgang70 5 years ago
I don't think that's true. Otherwise we wouldn't be drawn to the more immersive forms of entertainment. There's something about us that desires alter-egos in a false world.
PaulSquall 5 years ago
I am sorry David, I have unintentionally replied at the wrong indentation level (see post below).

Overall I had a awesome time last night

Personaly I'm disturbed by how wrapped up people get in the lives of entertainment celebrities. They'll read books and magazines about them, watch TV shows about them, spend time with other people who also obsess on the lives of these actors. There's not space here to even go into it. It's a whole other layer of socialy acceptable strangeness.
Right on, about the booze too.

Yes but Rome flourished for over 300 years after the games at the Colloseum began. We may have another 250 years or so for our various forms of entertainment to evolve. One can only imagine what that might mean.
Peter7777t 5 years ago
Rome didn't have the ease we have in the exchange of ideas or information either. Once it reaches the tipping point, the ease we have in which to do these things is going to move it along even faster. The French, Russian or American Revolutions may have come even faster had they been able to communicate as easily as we do. Not a prediction so much as a thought.
DamianKarrasAAP 5 years ago
And as was elluded to earlier, there is a difference between entertainment and art. Art engages, entertainment is escapist.
DamianKarrasAAP 5 years ago
DamianKarrasAAP 5 years ago
Yes I think you are right. And within that entertainment, the state can try and tell us anything they want about the state of affairs in our lives. Scary thing is, some people start to really believe what they are told.
Nazdrovia 5 years ago
also I wanna say I really like your video's and how you expres your opinion. I just subscribed a couple of days ago and I'm going through some of your older ones too. Some of the things you say really get me thinking, thank you^^
dumdadadum 5 years ago
you just pointed out some things I was really confused about in my head. a few people have been suggesting I drink less cause they saw me drinking more and more for the last couple of months. almost every time I drink there happen good things but there also happen alot of bad things. I have been thinking about quiting drinking alcohol for a month, to see if I can still have fun without it and if less bad things will happen. after seeing this vid I really think I should do it.
dumdadadum 5 years ago
The potential benefit that wine may offer to the heart needs to be balanced with the fact that alcohol is a known carcinogen (cancer causing substance). Also there is evidence that the cardiovascular benefits of red wine are also available from red grape juice since they both contain the chemical resveratrol which reduces blood clots.
Peter7777t 5 years ago
Moderation is the key word here. Abuse of anything is harmful. Alcohol, like anything else, is bad for you. However, a glass of red wine each evening has been shown to be actually good for the heart and circulation...Although I understand your point on abuse of the legal poison.
daligoddess2006 5 years ago
That's true RiverMark. Although I think that Ian was trying to emphasize that the accessibility of alcohol plus its highly frequent portrayal in the media as the "in" legal chemical make it particularly dangerous.
Peter7777t 5 years ago
But sex, food, violence, etc. are also accessible and frequently portrayed by the media as absolute necessities that people seem to gorge themselves on. My point is the obsession to "have it all" has erupted into a massive grab for anything and everything that is on "the table." And, the conventional attitude seems to be, "I'm entitled to take whatever I can get." It seems we are are on a freely chosen path to destruction...
RiverMark 5 years ago
You really could say everything, at an obsessive level, is dangerous and counterproductive, not just alcohol and entertainment. What about eating animal flesh, what about eating, what about working, sleeping, sex, helping others? Any time we go from exploring a passion to obsessing over one, it becomes problematic. It seems people have lost their way in maintaining balance as they greedily attempt to bombard their senses in *hopes* of "feeling good" from one moment to the next.
RiverMark 5 years ago
Those are powerful thoughts Ian. Our livers convert alcohol into a poisonous molecule called acetyldehyde. This molecule attacks every organ of our body. I drink no alcohol 364 days of the year. On my birthday I satisfy my curiousity by having 2 glasses of wine. The nice thing is that I get 364 days of clear thinking and healthy living.
Peter7777t 5 years ago
I don't have a problem with entertainment and I enjoy it but watching while drinking alcohol does make me feel sick.

What a fucking boring idiot. I stopped it after 30 seconds. Try harder to be interesting next time you fucking asshole. Does anyone know how you give something zero stars? I had to give one, which i found dramatically over-rated my opinion of this tat.
Kadinkski 5 years ago
anyone may have his/her own opinion ... as you do .. but why the usage of words like in your comment ... just say you don't like it and why not .. and that's it! :)
DesKruemelschen 5 years ago
Kadinkski. Your probably annoyed because your a drunk. Like most English people. You can't face the fact that you probably can't function without alcohol. This guy was just giving his opinion. show some respect you piece of shit.
sltr1 5 years ago
I've always thought it ironic that "alcohol" is one of the relatively few words English has derived straight from Arabic. Yet no Koran-believing Arab would touch the stuff!
Jesus, on the other hand, identified His very blood with it. I think what you're talking about in your video is more the abuse of alcohol, than alcohol as such. Most people ingest it with little harm, regarding it a pleasant social lubricant.
terakihi 5 years ago
Your right, entertainment is diversion... and every time I spend some playing games and whatnot instead of doing something productive I feel like shit. It's hard to change, i suppose though
evee700 5 years ago
Great video. Great.
I have nothing else to say, other than that it hit home. Entertainment is the silent killer. you're right! Entertainment is the free drug that kills the average persons productivity and creatitivity.
Yes!
PabloHungry 5 years ago
You speak of the human race, but I think you're talking about the specific problems of American society, not of the human race. Entertainment is dangerous not only in that it provides a mind-numbing escape, but it also makes folks think and act like they live in a fantasy world. Entertainment causes restlessness and dissatisfaction with real life, and it destroys creativity.
pennilesscripple 5 years ago
there are many things that "paralyze us as a human race" ian... too many things really... i bet if you thought about this a week from now you'd probably draw a new conclusion... it's just the nature of the beast...
iamlakota 5 years ago
Great how you talk about alcohol.
Your thoughts about it and your experiences are nearly similar as I have.
That is way I almost drink nothing let say a couple glasses in a month.
I like the taste of wine and beer but not the effect of it. Or only little bit.
But to forbid it is giving criminals a way of living. There should be no commercials about it.
Alcohol is for wimp's. For people who want to be fake. They are on the run for them self

***Continued***
These days there isn't much to do that doesn't cost you in one way or another. To be sober and bored means to be open to hurt and reality, people aren't ready for that, not when they coud instead get doused and spend their nights (sometimes days) in a blur of unquestioningly blurred lights and faces.

Love the way you think!
missariat 5 years ago
Alcohol and entertainment... okay I've watched a ton of your vlogs and as exploring one's self and the emotions and the pain and relief of it all seems to be your theme, this is a very fitting subject. Although these things (alcohol, entertainment) may be dangerous, you must consider the reasons for doing them- you said it "to pass time".
whoelseneedspants 5 years ago
I don't think entertainment is so bad. Everything people do is for entertainment. I write to entertain myself, I make videos to entertain myself, I hang out with friends to entertain myself...without entertainmeny there is nothing. Life is boring.
stellacat 5 years ago
Alcohol has just become too common, though. It is expected that to have any sort of fun you had to drink or do some sort of drugs. I went to a football game at my school, and was goofing around and automatically I was high. I was dancing at homecoming and automatically I was drunk. I don't do drugs or drink. Also, people not only die from alcohol, but kill while under it. So, even innocent people suffer. It's just not a good thing altogether.
stellacat 5 years ago
So, entertainment is dangerous, and yet you're an actor? And... if we stop filling up our time with entertainment we should... go be un-entertained because it's more fulfilling? And you want to change the world somehow through YouTube, and yet your videos are only for you? :) Sometimes you boggle my mind, Ian.
paperphoenix 5 years ago
Such wisdom and insight. He'll ignore you. Trust me.
superasente 5 years ago
I think it was mostly too much entertainment is dangerous. If you spend all your time watching TV then you are missing out. If devote your life to one type of entertainment it's not good. It's not that we should go un-entertained it's just that we shouldn't become obsessed with our entertainment.
IamTDF 5 years ago
I also think that making his videos on here to change the world can be only for him, because he wants to change the world so he makes videos to try and change the world without simply making the videos to entertain people.
IamTDF 5 years ago
Agreed. but I think too much entertainment is just an example of addictions/obsessions being unhealthy. I believe that anything in excess is dangerous. But I can see it from his perspective as an actor, because he himself thinks about it a lot. As a graphic designer, of course I think about advertising/marketing all the time and so I naturally consider it dangerous if handled incorrectly.
paperphoenix 5 years ago
Yeah you are right about that. I see where you are coming from.
IamTDF 5 years ago
Good acting isn't entertainment; it's art.
pennilesscripple 5 years ago
And sometimes alcohol leads to entertainment. Like the time in high school when I got drunk and accidentally pissed on an electric fence (I did not think this was entertainment, but my buddies did). Alcohol is poison and is legal; marijuana clears our minds and makes us feel at one with everything...and is ILLEGAL. Hmmm...not a coincidence...
cradamik 5 years ago
Marijuana definitely isn't as harmful (or harmful at all) as alcohol but I definitely don't think it's a way to "clear your mind and feel at one with everything." There are other ways to do that.
IamTDF 5 years ago
Yeah, that's true. And there are other ways to do that...smack, blow...KIDDING!! Just kidding! :D Actually, I gave up smoking weed years ago. But I don't see why it's illegal, even though it is less dangerous than alcohol, cigarettes, or our nation's spinach...
cradamik 5 years ago
haha yeah you are right about that.
IamTDF 5 years ago
I don't think it should be illegal either. However, in terms of Ian's argument about alcohol, mind-altering substances are mind altering substances - an escape. what makes alcohol "dangerous" but pot ok?
rebtuck 5 years ago
'Cause I like pot! I do pot, so if I do it, it's not 'dangerous'. But if others drink, then that's bad... :D Sorry, just being a smartass. But you bring up a good point. If you use ANYTHING--alcohol, pot, cheese doodles--as an ESCAPE and is therefore abused...then, yeah, that's "dangerous". Thanks for the clarification!
