Ana Ivanovic really got scared of Venus Williams. Venus really good on grass and playing awesome but very few Women are not scared of facing venus(when venus playing really good and injury free) on grass and they are : Serena, Stefi Graf, Lindsay Davenport, Justin, Martina Hingis. I know they all have lost to Venus in Wimbledon(except Stefi) but they all pushes venus to three sets. Venus game for awesome on grass and if player pushes her to the limit that would be great to see.
@espeonz Actually I don't think Venus was expected to lose this match. She was very confident you can see that by the way she was playing in this match. In addition, when she is serving well thats when her game is on, her serve revolves aroiund all aspect of her game. Ana played well but Venus was too good.
@rockaboyz1988 He wasn't saying she was expected to lose. He was saying she's always so happy after she wins, as if it's all new to her and she doesn't expect herself to win.
@espeonz i think i would be feeling super giddy as well if i was going thru to the finals of wimby esp when she is ranked 27 at that time... i think shes gona win wimby this year!!!
@sexygreen2010 I agree with you. I know people will think shes a long shot but honestly when Venus is healthy she can beat anyone. She made the us open semis on a bum knee. Plus she will be healthy by wimbledon and she now is back to an oversize racquet frame. I also don't think Serena is going to play wimbledon making Venus chances even better. Im hoping for a Venus, Sharapova final this year. Venus is gonna come to Wimbldeon hungry. Watch out girls
@AFCompany really? is she using a new racket now? not the K factor? i second your opinion about being hungry, she definitely is aiming for a huge comeback this year at wimby, i believe she didnt wanna play the french purely because she wants to be healthy enough for wimby and the whole summer series.
@sexygreen2010 i agree wit you 100%. i think Venus is making sure she's ready for wimbledon. She's even gonna play the grass court warm up before hand.
(i dont understand why the williams sisters dont play the extra grass court tournaments. They're amazing on grass.)
@nelle069214 i think after a gruelling clay season they choose to rest their bodies which has worked well for them in wimbledon. their results speak for themselves... i really hope she recovers properly and not rush back to playing, i think she is guilty of rushing back to play when she should rest and recover properly. i was watching the french open and one of the commentators mentioned that richard williams feels that venus should just retire and enjoy life... hope its not the case.
@sexygreen2010 Their dad always wants them to retire. When they first started he said they would be retired before they're 25. Venus said she isnt ready to retire, she said she'll keep playing as long as she's good at it. And she's still good at it. Did you see how she was playing at the Australian?? If she didnt get injured she had a great chance of winning. But i hope her injuries are gone, and i hope she can return to full form because women's tennis NEEDS both williams sisters.
@nelle069214 OMG you are so right, the WTA tour and the french open is just so boring without serena and venus, who do u think will win the french open for women? maria has a good chance but i really think sam stosur can go all the way this time.
@sexygreen2010 There are so many women that could win this thing its ridiculous. i think its between Sharapova, Clijsters, Wozniacki, Li Na, Stosur and Zvonereva. BUT other women that have a great chance are Kvitova, Jankovic, and Kuznetsova. It could go either way.
@nelle069214 i think this is jankovics biggest chance to win a slam, unfortunately shes been playing like a mad woman on the courts, last year she had a huge chance but obviously when someone comes along who hits more powerful than her then its over, the same i can say for wozniacki, hopefully a teenager who is unknown springs up and takes the helm, coz it seems like none of these ladies want it that bad.
@sexygreen2010 RIGHT!! Wozniacki is good, but she cant hit a winner to save her life. You cant win a slam hitting like 5 winners per match. Because youre gonna come up against someone that will take advantage of that. If i had to pick 1 woman to win it would be Sharapova. She'll complete the career slam if she wins. that'll be cool. Sharapova, Clijsters, Schiavone, and Kuznetsova are the only women left that have previously won a slame. So there's a good chance whoever wins will be a first timer
