I have the TD-4K myself, but I've seen people with the TD-3, and they can have a crash on the edge of the cymbal, and ride on the bow, but I can't do that with my TD-4K. Is it because the TD-4K does not support the double triggering, or can't I just figure it out?
@michaelschack Can you program a set on thssi where you have any of the sounds from the module on any pad? Such if I wante dto make my own custom techno kit could I do that?
Gratz, Michael. Nice work on showing that e-drums can rock hard!
I have a question about the td-4k: When you said that "on this extra cymbal, you can easily assign any sound you want", you mean that i can assign any sound available on the td-4 module? Or everyone of the 25 on-board kits have an specific output for the expansion pad?
Yes, you can assign any sound that is in the TD-4 module for any of the patches, and additionally also trigger any external sound in a separate module or laptop, since the extra pad will have its own outgoing MIDI note numbers as well... So patch n°1 dan have a splash sound on that extra cymbal, patch n°6 a handclap... Whatever for any patch !
hey i was gunna get one of these sets , but is it posible to add a cymbal, or if not change it like for instance i wanted a splash instead of the ride?
Yes, you can add a cymbal, or even a tom if you want. The according triggering cable is already included. Actually, check out my TD-4K performance clip - you'll see that there's an extra cymbal on my right ! And on this extra cymbal, you can easily assign any sound you want.
is it bad for the pads if you hit that hard like you does? because at the moment i haven't a roland just another cheap set and 1 pad already broke. well,guarantee... but i never hit hard and that's not fun to play. so is it ok with a roland? thanks
With the Roland pads you really can go all the way. I can hit them as hard as I can on acoustic drums. The pad you broke, well, the cheaper they are... I guarantee you that even with a thicker 5B stick or the likes, you won't have a problem with a Roland.
This drum kit is pretty awesome, after I saw the Demo from Roland at NAMM, the only question that came to my mind is that if yoiu can do rim shots???, it's the only thing I didin't saw...
Mike, great work! Although I'm a die hard acoustic kit drummer live, I am picking up this kit for practice and who knows maybe I'll fall in love and get the TD20 and play electric live in years to come. Because of your work, It was easy to decide on the Roland as opposed to other brands. The TD4 in my ears has better cymbal sounds then the TD6 or 9. Thanks again for your contribution, you have mad skills. Mike
whats the difference between this model and the Roland TD4SX? is it just the padding?
omarpz2004 1 year ago
@omarpz2004 Yep, SX has mesh heads. Module and setup is identical.

Ok thanks alot. You mean, change the Crash 2 Usage? because I tried that, and then my third crash wont work :( (I added a extra cymbal)

Hey Michael, one quick questio please.
I have the TD-4K myself, but I've seen people with the TD-3, and they can have a crash on the edge of the cymbal, and ride on the bow, but I can't do that with my TD-4K. Is it because the TD-4K does not support the double triggering, or can't I just figure it out?
BandaDK 1 year ago
@BandaDK TD-4K DOES support double triggering !!!! You need to check your connection and also, check the cymbal pad. Should be working just fine.
Good luck

Yes, you can play ri;shots and rimclicks on TD-4.
There's more example clips here on YouTube (check the RolandChannel) in which this feature is also shown.
