  • i have the exact same equipment as you yet I can't get the same sound... What am I doing wrong?!

  • to geargazm,

this is very impressive sound quality! Great listening for me...so rare to see fine recording lately. The Blue microphone there, I know they are great but was there anything thrown into this track to eliminate hiss or maybe some compression?

  • glad i got to meet you bro keep it up i love the videos

  • awesome recording :)

    you're really good at it!!

made me wondering whether to add apogee duet in my setup<__

  • I like your guitar and your monitor, i give you 400-500 $ would you sell them me?

  • Fantastic jam!! I have a 2011 MB Pro and i'm considering Purchasing the Blue Bluebird & M-Audio Fast track Pro (as the Duet 2 is soooo dam expensive and i'm a poor student). Any advice mate?

  • some harmonic distortion here, maybe you used a mic pre, mic sux arse

  • can you make a test with the blue yeti pro conected into the zoom h4n recording in 4 channel mode??

  • Damn that sounded REALLY good. Do something with the duet 2 for vocals.

  • sounds a bit bright to me.

  • what do you need to record the guit from the mic to garageband ? (like cables and stuff) and how? thanks!

  • @aeslehcwehc An audio interface (check out the Apogee Duet 2) and your XLR cable for the mic. Garageband will automatically recognize the Duet and sync it with your Core Audio. Good luck!

  • what about the yamaha hs450m?

  • What is your guitar? Sounds great!

  • I'm trying to decide between a Pro Tools MBox 3LE, an Apogee Duet 2, or a Eleven Rack. ER is the most expensive but beside being able to hook up a condenser Mic to it to record my acoustic guitar it has tons of different Amps, cabinets and guitar effects in it. Are you familiar with Eleven Rack? All this recording stuff is new to me :-) What's your opinion?

  • @hawg427 Go Duet 2 (like I told the other guy). It has built in pre amps for your condenser mic needs also. As far as the amps, cabs, and FX, your DAW (Logic, Cubase, Pro Tools, etc) will have plenty of options that will be better streamlined in your production.

  • Which Taylor guitar would these be that your playing?

  • I can't get my vocals to record... how do you make sure it plays back?

  • how come you guys never get a shure microphone?? how come only blue products??

  • and could you tell me what effects you used in logic? :)))))

  • i am absolutely puzzled as to how your recording sounds so clear without any crappy room noise. the room you're in isn't treated, i would expect a ton of reflections.

i have an apogee duet 2 and i can't get a decent recording. i am using garageband however. is it that much better with logic 9? and could you tell what db you set the duets preamps at? thanks :D

  • Tabs would be nice could u plz tell me

  • how good is your mic to record samples or drums or other sounds? do you recommend it?

  • is the apogee only for mac of can if work on widows

  • @OriammariO1

    mac only :(

  • @ianrollsontwennies get a mac :)

  • show how you hooked it up and stuff

  • damm i wish i had money =[

  • Wow, the name of the channel could't be better.

I always have eargasms when I listen to you playing.

    You should record an album.

  • nice glitter around the hole :)

  • so damn sexy with all those gears!!! *jizz*

  • This demo sounds so crisp and clean, my friend thought that I was actually playing the guitar myself.. o.O

  • WAIT I was wrong! Thats a LTD? I can tell by the sound

  • OH YEA! This is Matt from IPhone44IPhone4

  • Is that a taylor????? You gots some good taste

  • Hey Josh And Jon, since you guys are like my guitar idols, i posted a video response of a Blue Mic Spark demo with guitar/drums/bass recorded by me. Would you accept it? Also could both josh and jon leave feedback on it and tell me what ya think? (It my first "song" Thanks you guys rock!

    -Matt

  • SO is that like a classical guitar?

  • Josh i say this again! You rock! Lol

    Seriously sounds awesome, great job

  • That is such an amazing guitar.

I have a Taylor 114ce, and yours just blows mine out of the water.

  • i hate when people record guitar in-line. Makes it sound fake. this is the way to record it :)

  • @TheJustinSalvanera It's not so bad for electric these days but 100% for acoustic micing sounds geargazmic =P

  • @TheJustinSalvanera

ya mic'ing up an acoustic is the only way to go. sound stupid plugged in unless its live you wont notice and havent really got a choice.. only problem i have with mic'ing up acoustic guitar is, when i write a song I like to sing and play at the same time and it bugs me that both mics will be picking up my vocals and guitar. anyone know a way around this???

  • @quickmantan no way around that one, can you honestly not hold on to your wits and just record the guitar part without singing? how deep is this passion for singing lol

second, if your vocals are dynamic with the rhythm of your guitar strumming/playing then slap on some reference headphones and play the guitar track through while recording the vocals. Take as many well, TAKES until you find the right one that suits you.

  • @quickmantan

Even conjoining two pieces of separate vocal tracks might help find the right structure in your vocals for arrangement in your song production

  • @DaredevilsplayguitaR

I did actually do that on a song recently experimenting, I recorded guitar and vocals at the same time, I prefer to do my acoustic songs that way, but i didnt record the vocal track.. but you could hear my vocal slightly on the guitar track. then I recorded the lead vocal on a seperate track. and I ended up with a lead vocal and a quieter vocal that just help add a liittle more life and depth, actually worked quite well..

  • @quickmantan I am glad to see somebody is interested in making good recordings and although I may have run my mouth quite a bit for you, I hardly ever get into it on youtube so please excuse that! As far as this SM58 topic, I wanted to finish saying that whatever the mic, in the studio learning the use of compressors, equalizers, maximizers, chorus, and reverb will really clean up the range of dynamics in your voice to the point that you won't notice the differences.

  • @DaredevilsplayguitaR a nice mic such as this blueberry really just makes things easier for the studio work to be done. It does not in any way "enhance" the capacity for great vocals unless you are constantly pumping out tracks and need to get that final high quality sound ASAP. Again, learn some compressor, eq, etc. things mentioned above techniques here on youtube, or the net... these things will make your life a lot easier than rounding up a 1000 bucks for a nice mic. If you have it disregard

  • @DaredevilsplayguitaR

I am also gonna try recording some lead vocals on a SM58. instead of a condensor mic, see how that sounds, cause the stuff i sing goes well with a sm58, plus i heard bono recorded almost every song in the studio with a SM58. and when u listen to it, you can actually hear it.. the unique sound of the sm58 which totally adds to bonos voice.

  • @quickmantan SM58 is a great mic! Don't be caught up in the audiophile junkie world, there are tons of great miss that lack "condenser" which beefed up your vocals and provide crisp quality in the sound. I didn't know the Bono story, although I would only see it as a good read and not a hard-facts sort of thing, since Bono also records in high quality environments using tremendous gear. In my opinion, SM58 is simply a very receptive mic at any given distance from the singer. I see no problem!

  • @DaredevilsplayguitaR nice one for your input, i find doing a good vocal the hardest part.. and probably the most important part, i hate mixing. wish i had a pro engineer to do eveything while i just played.

  • @quickmantan cool, again (or maybe for the first time?) I mean all good things. The art comment of how you recorded the guitar and the vocals bleeding through into the track, that is just fine for what I like to call a rough track. I mean by this not that it is shit and garbage, simply it is rough because now, it is a good idea to record new overdubs of the guitar work on new tracks and doing the same with the vocals. After a while, you will probably see discarding the rough track is inevitable!

  • @DaredevilsplayguitaR last** and not art*** my mac is doing this to me while i look away from the screen lol. One more thing, as a tip from an experienced person.. the composition of the song is somewhat important and in my case, always quite important. I mean to say that when you have finished the writing portion of the song, try and sit on it, alone, in a silent place, reflecting on where the song takes you..then use this time to hammer down a rhythm that is easily reproducible later on.

  • @DaredevilsplayguitaR I say this with caution since only some people do not know that trick in composition. Often times, on the internet I find many writers who simply fail at a somewhat (at least) organized structure in their works and although they have a good hit on their hands, the song is simply not concrete. When you can feel a groove out that sticks in your mind, use it!! The most technical players have this keen sense of structure embedded even in their most intricate grooves.

  • @DaredevilsplayguitaR this process usually yields an easy layering process later, since guitars and live instruments in general should be layered at least several times, to get a big room sound that is great for the mastering engineer. Even if this is all done by yourself, the end result is fascinating. When you do get 2 cents together, though, sending the song to a mastering studio will make the girls giggle and the fireworks will go off. One hit can be very worth it!

  • @TheJustinSalvanera

Sometimes I like to record both and mix the 2 together. In general of course I favor acoustic!

  • who won the miles davis beats? the contest was almost 4 weeks ago....

  • @po1s0ned The winner will be up this weekend.

  • wants gibson in background

  • @2randomperson It's actually an LTD EC-1000 :D

  • The quality is awesome. So awesome that I think I just geargazmed .

  • sounds good for a 2000 dollar mic. lol -Justin

  • @TheJustinSalvanera It's actually a $900 mic =P

  • @Geargazm Wow. I'm in search of a mic of no more than €500 (I'm from the Netherlands) with my Duet 2. What would you advise? I sing and play in the style of Paul Simon and Katie Melua.

  • @Dustiliciousz Wow the Blue Blueberry sounds VERY GOOD... Hmm, think I'll raise the budget

  • 3rd!!!

  • NO ONE cares who's first.... --"
