  • When you think about it, Mario gotta have a lot of balls. I mean take for example some secret exits. They demand that he, fully and completely, trusts some very obscure hints like in this video where there just was an arrow that pointed into the quicksand. Now how was he supposed to know that it just wasn't a trap set by Bowser? Had it been he would have been done for and he wouldn't have anyway what so ever to get out of there... Or maybe i am just overthinking again.. >.> ^^

  • 0:47 sounds like mickey mouse.

  • EYEM INN URR LEE RYE ZURR

  • Mario speaks in full sentences in Mario's Picross. Not a lot of people know that.

And you get to Charles Martinet voice Mario in full sentences in non-canon games like Mario Teaches Typing 2 and Mario's FUNdementals.

  • I really don't mind the cutscenes at all. If you hate them, you can just skip them, so what's the problem?

  • It occurs to me. World 3's map is incredibly similar to the original SMW's world 3 map.

  • Gah Raocow - please never do that again :(

  • Raocow: Solving the hardest of puzzles, since 2011

  • Well, I personally don't think, that Mario sounds that stupid and you mock him kind off actually, because, if you pay attention in Super Mario 64, the few sentences he says are actually pretty deep "okidoki", "It's a me, Mario", "Mama Mia" and "Let's A Go!". If you want, I can make a video how I personally imagine Mario talking like a normal person. Also, only because he doesn't talk much doesn't mean, that he isn't smart. Many Protagonists in Video Games don't say anything....

  • I don't think SMW's engine is very suitable for storytelling purposes, but I'm going to be yet another person to bring up the Super Mario Bros. Super Show.

While probably not canonical, that show shaped perceptions of Mario characters for a generation, at least in the U.S. Anyone from the U.S. who can't remember the SMB Super Show is a whippersnapper and thus not to be trusted.

  • my stomach hurts so much from laughing at the beginning haha oh god.

  • Cutscenes do don't do any romhack good. Especially when the author tries to incorporate things from later Mario games. Also, it doesn't make any sense to see Mario speaking normally, like you said.

  • Not only is it really weird to have Mario talk like a sentient person, the cut scenes are also REALLY slow and kind of off putting to be honest.

Playing the game myself right now, and all they really accomplish is annoying me.

  • 4:26 mm.. fire in water? extrange =P

  • SirRonLionheart has a good Mario speaking voice, actually.

  • lmfao. wooooooow. That was too much sir. I was eating yogurt when you started your little voice parade of Mario on that cut scene. Needless to say, I couldn't eat it at all during that because I couldn't breath due to laughing.

  • don't forget 'Its-a go time!'

  • Yep, those munchers were really important in that key room, lol

  • Raocow, before Super Mario 64 there was a cartoon and a movie in which Mario had a full on speaking role.

  • Cartilogenophobia? :P

  • Oh god @_@

Please don't do all the cut scenes like that. For me, at least, it's quite painful, due to the high pitch. I mean, I know that hyperacusis isn't a terribly common affliction, and that I'm just one person out of thousands, but that's my two cents.

  • @raocow: At least Mario says "Let'sa Go!" every once in a while. Take Link, for comparison;

    HYEEAAAAGHUU! YEAAAA! UAAAAAAAGH!

  • what a moron

  • The humor in this hack is non existing

  • take on me was the reference you were making right?

  • Hmm? I could have sworn In SMN64 mario also said...AHH Ravioli, Yippee, yahoo, so long king bowser, AHH spaghetti... And Mama Mia...

  • @CATZEN SO LONG GAY BOWSER!

  • SO THAT'S WHY HE'S A VEGETARIAN!!!!

  • Raocow, I am in awe of your puzzle solving skills, you magnificent awesome person, you!

  • What would your Luigi sound like?

  • @ZZDaikun He does black metal vocals for Luigi... yeeeeaaahhhhhhh...

  • Cartilogenophobia - The fear of bones.

I enjoyed the muncher thing at the end. :3

  • OH ALL ALONG IT WAS JUST A ROOM IN THE SAND!

  • lol It's kind of funny, Mario's "first" voice was technically in the Super Mario Bros. Super Show and it's a lot deeper in pitch. But his N64 voice is a lot more high-pitched. Maybe visualise it as the Super Show one or something, lol!

  • Raocow I love you so much I added you to my spellcheck/dictionary/thingguystuff

  • Raocow, it's ok that you hate bones. My best friend will only eat meat in nearly-indistinguishable form (like chicken fingers or bacon) because of the bones. Bones are pretty weird.

  • O_O HOLY MOLEY... Raocow, you are not alone in being creeped out by bones. I thought I was the only one. I can't eat chicken or turkey because of it. I thought I was the only one.

  • I like to think Mario just does not speak English, and or is very humble.

  • I love your complete disregard for luigi's text.

  • In my opinion, Mario should never speak. I mean with an actual human voice. I couldn't take it. Giving Mario a text box doesn't bother me as much for whatever reason. I suppose if you do read it though, it becomes hard not to imagine a voice for him. And then that's where it gets bothersome..

  • Wow, you can get really high on your falsetto. Ow, my ears.

  • The mario I know is from the SMB Super Show and the related cartoons.

  • you don't like bones? Then buy boneless oranges

  • mario does have a speaking voice though, you can hear him talk in alot of games

  • I think a better point of reference for emulating Mario's voice are the Italian-sounding gibberish bits in the Mario&Luigi series. So, I couldn't really follow your rant there, to be honest.

  • so i take it you're straight because you must be afraid of other guy's BONErs. *cricket chirping*

  • You got to remember though in SM64 Mario also says "So long, Bowser!" when he throws him. He also says "Here we goooo!". He was probably just saving his mouth strength for eating Princess Peach's cake. WHOA DOUBLE ENTENDRE ALL THE WAY

  • I like your theory that people's voices are what they sound like when they jump.

  • Your Mario voice legit made my day.

  • F*** Pots!

  • When I imagine Mario's voice I can't help but hear the Mario from the Super Mario Bros. Super show.

So while I'm fine with snarky dialogue from Mario, it has to be more of a baffled 'what is this I don't even' kind of snark rather than a 'let me express my disdain for the opinion of you inferiors' kind of snark.

  • @maltheopia Come on it's time to go, DO DA MA-RI-O!!

  • You get upset by people using non-SMW Mario stuff without explanation, but then you use a weird reference to Mario 64 in order to voice your frustration over harmless text cutscenes? Your philosophy on Mario is intriguing. You should do an essay on it some time. Or a blog. Maybe one of those draw-a-picture-for-10-minutes videos.

  • @payableondeath7 This is SMW, not Final Fantasy XIII >=(

  • @raocow: so you are vegetarian?

  • I prefer your Peach impersonation, Raocow xD

And people, stop arguing and trying to overanalyze! Raocow has opinions, how dare he!

  • Man, you SHOULD do all the cutscenes in Production like that. It adds flavour.

  • I cannot for the life of me figure out how you solved that key puzzle, I must've tried heading to that room about 50 times trying to solve it and kept running out of time!

  • Brilliant! Romi's Cutscene Tool can let us continue from the midpoint.

  • he only complains cause ASMT was so good and this is ment to be on a level with it which is extremely hard to do

  • i'm keeping my feather in this game... is a lot useful

  • I can't help but think back to MKM1, when you revisited the first world in the far future, and every enemy was a skeleton of its former self...that must have deeply disturbed you.

  • I like how you give Luigi the shaft by not emulating his voice. :P

  • @BlakDragon1 his timbre is a lot harder to get with my voice, haha

  • I'm also worried about bones in life, I mean breaking my bones and probably seeing that bone stick out of me...*shivers*

  • *Scribbles in stalker notes* Bones.. All.. Freak me out real bad. Done! :P

  • @LUESoldat you are right, I am biased against people making mario talk with very bad script writing. I admit it!

  • @LUESoldat

Well, if it's that unbearable to listen to raocow, why don't you just GTFO?

  • @LUESoldat

Uh "completely bias commentary"? This isn't a scientific paper. This is him playing a game and saying what comes to his mind. Of course it's bias. I mean it boggles my mind that you would even say that, it goes without saying. I mean you're honestly saying you expect him to say only things that are generally accepted as true or can be proven? Otherwise it's always going to be bias.

  • Now im curious because that one hole beside the munsher (what'scalled) . What is down there?

  • LMFAO.

    oh my god.

    The beginning was gold.

    Love you Raocow <3

  • @LUESoldat I can't really deny that, except I've been reading text said by Mario a lot now, and this was just sort of the tipping point. It had to get out! Not sure where you're getting the hate other than for that though. Like, call it denial if you will, but, uhm, I honestly don't see it!

  • @LUESoldat guh! who the heck cares! We love Raoman for who he is because hes funny..so just go sit in a corner and twiddle your thumbs.

  • 8:22 Raocow is a genius at solving puzzles.

  • Wow Raocow, I wasn't sure if you were gonna be able to solve that last puzzle.

  • To be fair, Mario talking is quite canon. He talks at the end of Super Mario 64 ("Thank you a-so much for a-playing my game!"), he has a few low-volume whole sentences in Super Mario Sunshine, and at press events like E3 Nintendo has often had a virtual Mario that talks back with the audience and makes jokes and whatnot. Thing is, the way it is written in these cutscenes, it really doesn't match with how Mario would talk and stuff. Oh well!

  • Hey raocow, I don't know if you remember that, but you did talk about your thing with bones in a VERY old TSRP video on Google video, in the level "Bones Labyrinth". I know that because I actually watched that video not so long ago, LOL.

  • Well, I say "very long" like it was a bajillion years ago, but it was just in 2007 XD

  • You're pretty good at spot the difference games.

  • at 6:39 it wasnt a yoshi but a koopa you tried to ride its why XD

  • oh man, I think we have a naming scheme for this series

  • Cave Story music again.

Even if you don't LP it, you should definitely play it, it's really well made.

  • Lol @ what he was saying in the key room.

  • It's most definitely not impossible to save dragon coin progress. In fact, it just requires you add a little something to save those bytes to SRAM.

  • That rant about mario's speach was one of the funiest things I've ever heard.

    Seriously.

  • I haven't been bitching lately because I haven't seen anything to bitch about lately.

But like, come the fuck on, man.

Those holes that kinda look like they're not holes, I have a problem with that.

  • raocow.. your mario voice, made me laugh so hard it literally hurt my head lol

    thank you for that.

  • Ah, Geothermal. Excellent track.

  • what about when he talks on the title screen of sm64? shouldn't that help you imagine it a little better than his gameplay grunts and yellings? oh, and i really liked your silliness at the end

  • Raocow, you seem to have lost your sanity since the end of yesterday's video, you're like... even more full of joy! ahah.

  • Bone problem? Look up "The Sedlec Ossuary" for me ;)

  • You made my birthday even better with your Mario Voice :D

  • That puzzle at the end was mind boggling, I'm still wondering how you solved it :P

  • how do you feel about boners

  • He doesn't like them unless it's meatspin

  • Remember to buy Mario's cereal kids!

  • I love how you managed to drag out that extremely complex puzzle at the end.

  • I love the voice you gave Mario in that cutscene in the beginning XD

  • I don't think you could go as far as calling mario retarded, but he is portrayed as someone who has little to say and uses actions rather than words. In the Mario and Luigi RPG's he talks by babbling and moving his arms.

  • Actually canon Mario talks in Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga.

Also that rant and voice went on way longer than they had to.

  • classic raocow :)

  • I would enjoy all the cutscenes like that.

  • White line of doom on the right side of the screen? And more Mickey Mouse imitations, please! :)

  • Mario dialouge sounds too much like a bad generic sarcastic doujin-game character to me.

  • I wonder, do you have the same problem with Link? If he had dialogue, would you imagine all of it like "YAH! HAH! HRARGH!"?

  • Oh man, that puzzle at the end... I would never have figured that out :P

  • that sure was a difficult puzzle!

  • Also, hearing that tidbit about having a problem with bones in real life was pretty interesting, and I don't think I've heard it before.

Out of curiosity, does it bother you when you see stuff like skeletons in video games, etc? Or are you only bothered by like, actual bones laying around?

  • @StarkMaximum bones in film bother me just as much, same with very well cg'd bones. When it's drawn it doesn't affect me as much, it leaves me fairly neutral.

  • @raocow Yeah man, I'm the same way. X-Rays really freak me out, do they you?

  • @raocow

I have the same problem in movies and shows, especially when it's done well with throat slitting, it freaks me out.

  • @raocow hmm.. thats pretty weird.. i think. never heard of anyone afraid of bones :P. guess you dont eat any chicken wings, t-bone steaks or spare ribs? :(

  • @raocow So I'm guessing any graveyard things or horror games (like seriously scary ones) would terrify you even more so from the bones? Cause for me it's the jump scares that get me. I mean like, it's really bad cause I know something will happen and then BOOM it happens.

  • Raocow's talk about Mario was absolutely fantastic. Nothing kills my enthusiasm for Mario fanwork than the person going YOU KNOW I THINK MARIO SHOULD BE SOME SNARKY ASSHOLE YEAHHH, because it's pretty clear in the games that no matter what happens, Mario generally reacts the same way: cheerful, eager and ready to do what's right. Even if he never talks, that much is clear.

However, for the rare times Mario does speak, Charles Martinet does a wonderful job.

  • Fanfiction exists because it's non-canonincal.

  • I agree, everytime Mario is given a "voice" its some snarky 12 year old's imagination that mario should be a know-it-all jerk and thats exactly how it happened in this rendition as well.

  • Your Mario sounds like Mickey Mouse.

  • @Originalprof As does many of his other impressions =P

  • Speak of the devil. Just got through watching the last two episodes I missed and this pops up. Cool.

  • Funny thing is that Mario has NEVER been able to speak. Even in the RPGs.

  • @GenericSteve764 Thank you so much for-a playing my game!

  • I loved your little Mario rant at the beginning! Your zaniness always makes me smile, Raocow. :P
