  • you could give me no rights, keep me in shakles, beat me senseless and starve me til i was rail rthin and i would STILL want to live on your island! *lol*

see the depths I would go, GTF?

  • i'm blushing, not from embarassment ;-p

  • haha ;p

  • i really want to live in your country!

  • Sure I'll live in your country.

  • Ahhhh- if you ever get this dream island, you'd better send me an invitation! And that's all I have to say on the subject!

I say we name the place "Hello?! This is common sense!" It's a bit long, but it sets up your wishes beautifully. :P

  • I'm an anarchist, but I'd be happy to at least give your country a try. :)

  • How about the role of businesses in government and politics?

    Owning land?

If you can work out that no-money thing, let me know :) I can build you a custom guitar if you make some custom artwork for me!

  • its tempting to say i'll own all the land and rent it to "my people".

as for business involvement in politics, nope, not in my country. people may petition the government., and the government may from time to time convene advisory councils taken from the business world, but only on request. there wouldn't be lobbying, as such.

  • Good, Im in! Vive le Funk!!!

  • So if GTFLand ever comes to fruition, let me know...im in :)

  • stuff like that would be up to the legislature. that said, since the document twice stresses the importance of protecting Nature, it stands to reason recycling would be rigourously pursued :-)

  • Where can I apply for citizenship?

  • You make the laws sound easy and just, but you did not touch tax laws.

How to pay for roads, hospitals, the coming pensions, police, courts and so on. This is what most political disputes are all about.

  • yeah, but stuff like that is up to the people to decide via the legislature.

on the other hand, maybe my country won't use money.(?)

  • I would grant everyone all kinds of freedoms. In my country, you could see people walking nude with their leatherbound human "pets" {voluntary "pets" of course!}. I would put huge tariffs on imports, and huge taxes on local businesses, and everyone would get full educations. And my flag would be all white with the words "We Surrender!" in bold black letters across it! =p

  • Thanks for being pretty much the only person to make a vid response. I liked this video and what you would ultimately want to strive for. My question in regards to this video, is how would you appropriately deal with violations of your laws, specifically (and assuming) murder, rape, etc."?

    Thanks again :)

  • serious crimes like murder or rape would face permanent exile if convicted. lesser crimes, the perpetrators would face incarceration, and anyone who had to go to jail more than 3 times in ten years would also face exile.

  • i would like to propose an amendment that would impose an hour's proven time listening to graham central station, and a bass guitar must be kept on the premises of every privately owned property.

  • well, maybe not limit it to bass guitars. every household MUST posess at least one musical instrument.

    how's that for compromise?

    pub?

  • hour's proven listening time per week*

and yes, i'm willing to concede the bass proposal as long as we're able to keep the graham central station idea on the table.

  • Seriously, i might invade and take over Belgium. It's not like i will face any resistance is it?

  • with the headquarters of the EU there? i think there *might* be some resistance...

  • So all we need now are designs for the flag, passport and postage stamps.

    Oh, and an island.

  • someone below suggested Iceland is for sale.....

  • Nah, we need somewhere warmer. You're down in Cornwall, aren't you? Fancy invading one of the Scilly Isles?

  • well, fuck, if stealing someone's island is an option, we could do lots better the the Scilly Isles lol.

  • I think it could use more stuff. But I like it so far.

  • Excellent idea! Sounds like the Island of Funk would be a great place to live. My question is how big is the island? How populated are you willing to let it become? And, finally, can I have a beach house? Sending good thoughts your way!

  • dunno how popular my island will be, since i'm thinking about making money illegal...

    ;-)

    thanks hon.

  • I would live in you country. I especially love your take on a third voting option for neither, or no to both. That is needed heavily.

  • All i can say is - are you in need of a minister of culture?

    :P

    sign me up!

  • I would carbon copy the Scottish lawbooks instead of starting from scratch, The Scottish legal system seems to be working ok, I like that it is independent from government, sorta.

Then I would start getting rid of the bullshit drug laws and legalizing marriage, polygamy and all that good shit first.

I would also raise the business tax by 50% and drop the tax on the poor drastically.

  • so when can I come on over? :)

  • Where do I sign? When does the plane leave? Do I need clothes? :-)

  • I might be coming but first what kinda island is this

if it's gonna be hot all year round I can't it'd kill me

  • Nice. I'd better get my name down quick! ;)

There's a couple of things i'd like to see added.

    1) Regarding if someone is found not guilty of a crime-no right to be tried again? made me think of the Double jep rule..surely if new evidence comes to light, a new trial? Just seems more fair to all, especially victims.

    2) What is your country's provision re looking after the elderly? And what position on euthanasia? Island of Funk must have a decent tune for Funk Olympic games! haha! :)

  • well, in Court, there are different possible verdicts:

    Acquitted/Not Guilty

    Not Proven

    Convicted/Guilty

if a case is Not Proven, the person is free, but the Court may choose to reconvene IF compelling NEW evidence comes to light.

as to the second part, those would be up to the elected government.

  • That's certainly the case in Scotland, but not south of the border. They've removed the double jeopardy rule, so you can be tried again if new evidence comes to light. I tend to think that there's potential for abuse there that would warrant reinstating double jeopardy.

  • I'm on my way! Hopefully there's still some beachfront property in the United Peopledom of Funk!

  • Sir, you are in need of a King maker- of sorts. I could only propose one amendment: People have the right to health and medicine as much as they do food and water. I know that's redundant, but so thought the founding fathers of the US. We still ended up with the most arcane and asinine drug laws in the entire civilized western world.

  • Definately like that place bud.

  • like it.

  • May I please move there?

  • Whats the Climate Like, What's the price of land and what Game Animals are there? And what's Your Title? I think Prince Funk the First Sounds Good. TheDemocratic Principality of Funk.

    Sounds pretty dam good.

Only things missing are minor, guarantee of right to self defence is vital, but I'd like to see it explicitly as weapons (possibly subject to Shall Issue Licensing for safe handling and such, in the same way as cars are).

And Bowhunting, will I be aloud to bow hunt in your country?

  • Sounds like a damn good place to live Mr. ThatFunk ;)

  • "I'm on a boat, look at me motherfucker, coz I'm sailin' on a boat".

Sails are set, expect my arrival by sunset, pre-print my passport as a citizen of The People's Republic Of Funk.

    Pack the suitcases honey, we're a-movin' !

  • Iceland is up for sale. I think.

  • lmao thats hilarious.

  • But only when you got universal healthcare, and I can deside when I die. :-)

  • where do i sign?

  • *packing my suitcase* LOL

    ^^)

  • This is a great vid....I'm packing my bags!

    One thing missing.

All people are free to consume any substance, man-made or natural as long as it poses no threat to the safety and liberty of others.

    or something along those lines.

  • thats covered:

"the individual is the sovereign of their own body"

  • Well that is a lot to soak in, but I like it.

  • i just put it all in the description box if you wanted to peruse further.

  • well, i tried, but apparently its too long to fit. :-/

  • well, specially made, i've used my back up channel to post a text version, so's you can take it in better :-)

    supercool musical accompanyment...

attached as a response to this video.

  • WOOT! Talk about customer service!

Will take a look a bit closer when I get home from work. Thanks!

  • Works for me.

I think it's important to talk about the responsibilities that go along with rights. Some views of rights pretend that no such responsibilities exist.

  • agreed. responsibilites also give rights added value, and vice versa.

the price of your rights is to uphold your responsibilites, and in upholding your responsibilites, you ensure your rights.

  • While it makes sense to say that citizenship brings responsibilities, those responsibilities should be independent of rights, IMHO.

  • that may actually be a really good point.

  • I wanna emmigrate :P

    I have only one question...

Does hatespeech exist, and what "legislation" prevents or punishes that (if acknowledged that hatespeech exists of course)

  • incitement to violence would be contrary to the Rhapsody, but short of that, other speech/expressions are protected.

    i paraphrase Thomas Jefferson:

"if it doesn't break my bones or pick my pocket, how someone else conducts themselves is no affair of mine"

all speech should be protected, unless it directly causes danger or damage to person or property.

  • dude i cant pull all that together in my head

put it in the sidebar or something please

  • good call. mission accomplished :-)

  • mission failed. its too long to fit :-/

  • just like my cock

  • well, just for you, and anyone else who wants to ponder further more easily, i made a text version video, which is attached to this video now as a response.

that's the kinda love i have for my subs.

    :-)

  • aw thats so sweet
