It´s hard to believe, but the enormously talented litte Allan Bergius was only 9 (NINE !) years and 4 months old, when these film recordings of the oratorio were made during the Autumn of 1981 in Stiftskirche Waldhausen, Austria. Allan B. was born on May 2nd 1972.
This was no live concert but a complicated TV-filming, piece by piece, during several days and then edited together during months to appear to the public in 1982.
... und das Violinsolo von Alice Harnoncourt ist unerrecihbar gut gespielt.... Der Klang der Stainer 1665 nicht zu übertreffen.... SO klingt Barockvioline wirklich!

Hier sticht nicht nur Bergius, sondern auch die professionelle Altstimme von Stefan Rampf, wenn es richtig ist, heraus. Er beweist, dass es möglich ist, schom im Kindesalter mit natürlichem Vibrato zu singen! Nur wenige Kinder schaffen dies so schön, wie Rampf es macht.- Peter Schreier ist sowieso einer der besten Tenöre!
Peter Schreier (the tenor) was a member of Dresdner Kreuzchor in the 40s under conductor Rudolf Mauersberger and he sung the altus part himself as he was a child, so he knows how to work with boy solists

I only wish that Canadian, Welsh or English men and boys could or would sing this but the language is a barrier. I love it so much.

Damals wusste ich es nicht: The altus is Stefan Rampf. Both of them sing in the complete Bach-Cantatas work under Harnoncourt.
