It was really good for someone starting out, then i got an epiphone les paul standard plus top for $400 and its around 5x better than the stagg, my cousin has a €1'500 american strat and the epiphone can even compare to it!

I might go buy my first electric tomorrow. I figure that since I've been playing mostly rock tunes like Nirvana and led Zeppelin, I'd better have the right guitar for it. I think ive narrowed it down to either fender or les Paul. I can't decide at the moment. I have decided that I want one of those packs since they are do highly recommended by so many guitarists.

Depends on the store - do some research before you go to your local store. There's many to choose from and they can turn out to be a big asset in the end. Doesn't matter if its the Mom and Pop shop or Guitar Center. Go in with a budget and an idea of what you're looking for an you'll come out better in the end

in 94 I went into a SamAsh in NYC, dude says what you want? I said my first electric......Dude says you serious about it? I go YEP. FENDER AMERICAN STANDARD Aniversary Model...six years later I changed to dimarzio humbukers. The guitar has been with me for seventeen years, I refretted it last year...It kicks ass better than when I bought it.......oh and I payed $700 for it plus the amp, cables, set of strings and a whole bunch of picks...SAM ASH I LOVE YOU!!!

Oddly enough - Squier is sold by Fender and originally, Squier's were sold as Fender Squiers - so technically - you are both right. Currently Squier is the brand - still sold thru Fender.
