  • elgarrouj mutch butter

  • press 7 really fast

  • if he did not fell he would have win

  • fuck algeria all the time !!!!

  • El guerrouj's right foot kicked Morcelli's right heel at the first time.

  • dis wz very unfortunate fr elgueruj....oderwiz wud hav gone on 2 win d race

  • The way I see it, if the Olympic 1500 is won in 3:35, they're all losers. They should give Morceli the bronze and no medals to anyone else. Better yet they should all be disqualified for running the 800 instead of the 1500.

  • @kozmon0t

    Ah wut?

You are talking as if they ran 'slow' because they split a fast 800 en-route, which they didn't since they only hit 2.01. Your comment in general makes no sense...

Times don't mean squat in the Olympics, a win is a win. All those athletes had an equal opportunity when they toed the line.

  • @iameskay No, they only raced the LAST 800 meters. The first 700 were a friendly jog. Duh...

They don't have an equal opportunity when they toe the line - not if there's a champion among them. Then the champion has the opportunity, and the rest of them are fucked.

Unless they run this "tactical" crap which gives everyone a fair chance to win because they can all run that fast.

There are rarely true champions in Olympic distance races. Aouita, Ngugi, Ngeny, Bekele have done it.

  • Dirty dirty dirty race all the way through, that was intentional.

  • I live in Atlanta! Too bad I was only 4 when this was going on..

  • deserved to noredine morsli great player

  • the way el g accelerated so easily to get right next to morceli makes me wonder what would have happened on that last lap

  • @CABabc12345 Yeah, and the fall interupted Cacho's positioning as well. Morceli enjoyed a huge separation from the pack after the fall.

  • Morcelli's own right knee knocked his own left knee, causing his leg to go and land into E.G's path.

    How weird!

Morcelli himself is very lucky that E.G. only landed on his heel: E.G. could have landed on his Achilles and ruined Morcelli's chances, giving Cacho a another gold medal.

  • Yeah that was pretty intentional. As a world record holder you sort of try to keep consistent and fluid mechanics in your stride, you just don't irradically throw your leg out and trip the guy who is about to pass you going into the last lap.

  • Poor Hicham!

  • El Guerrouj should have won.....!!

  • @larega66 El Guerrouj would've won. Lol

  • @larega66 he would have won yes......a part from this ...in this final he was very unlucky he found Nourredine's feet and not the gold medal!

  • @larega66 that's right....Gold for Morceli, El Guerrouji without medal.....The history is :no ifs, ands, or buts.....

  • Morceli deserved an Olympic Gold after being outmaneuvered in 1992, the same fate would befall his successor as the world's best middle distance runner, El Guerrouj in 2000. But in 1996, Morceli remained the world's best.

  • cheater morceli!

  • @muluken04 how can you say that he cheated? he was infront of hicham and he bounced his leg of his other leg causing hicham to fall becuase the pack was so tight.

  • Morceli the cheater. He knew that El gerrouj could beat him. Thtaswhy he avoid him the whole 1996. The whole world was waiting to see them running against each other in 1996 but Morceli cancelled evevrytime when El Guerrouj also would run. Ofcourse at the olympics he had to run. And in the final 1996 he did let him fall intentionally no doubt about it.

  • @Badrofone1978 Oh my god, that's terrible! Did the IAAF take away the gold medal when you told them this?

  • @YiftertheShifter1

That isnt important. The most important is how did you get it. Did you get it with cheating or being simply the best?

  • @Badrofone1978 It doesn't matter? Then Morceli keeps his gold medal, and all you naysayers will have to accept that he won the gold medal, fair and square. He was the best on the day, just as he was for four straight years, and he deserved that gold medal. Hicham, a great athlete, couldn't take it from Morceli that day and regretfully had an accident. Justice has been done to both athletes. Now quit complaining, unless you can prove your statement to the IOC.

  • @Badrofone1978 exatly if i was morcelli i would never feel happy with that medal, he was leading none pushed him to stamble.

  • @Badrofone1978 Come on now, morceli had no reason to cheat he was still dominant, El G hadnt beaten him yet at this stage. Why would Morceli risk himself going down in such an important race? and dont say its because he was scared. he wouldnt know el g would beat him coz el g hadnt beaten him yet!! if anyone was at fault it was el g, since he should have had the sense not to run directly behind, instead sit on the shoulder. simple race accident. get over it.

  • I personally think that it was intentionally by Morcelli to prevent El to surge in front. Can see it very clearly at 2.39 running. Morcelli didi not deserve the wini.

  • morcli...c'est vrai charaff el arab wa moslimin....**********50

  • a lot of suspicions about this win?!!!

  • That is a Truly Warrior, never surrender...

  • Morcelli did trip El G, though not on purpose. If you watch the 2nd replay, Morceli kicks the back of his left leg, then swings his right leg out to avoid falling

  • @AjaPuppy Clear explanation as to what happend. Read Ajapuppy's response idiots.

  • @AjaPuppy Yeah, I don't think it was on purpose.

  • @AjaPuppy fuck you guys, its was an accident see 5:10 , el guerrouj who did mistake he steps on the morceli's foot

  • You guys need to give credit where it's due: Morceli ran in total control of this race, either at the front or close to the front, and made his moves at the best possible times. El Guerrouj, much as I feel sorry for his poor luck here, simply made his move too late, spending much of the time boxed and moving out wide on the curves before moving very quickly just to get right behind Morceli, a recipe for collision. It was, of course, unforeseen, but El Guerrouj learned his lesson by Athens.

  • either morceli tripped him or didn't which i know he did ,elguerrouj's distiny was more than winning atlanta ,el guerrouj was distined to be the greatest that ever been and will be,and i'm sure that morceli was never happy with that gold medal cause he knows he didn't deserve it

  • the big cheat morceli did trip him it is obvious he hindered him with the right foot because he knew he was better than him cause that was the only way to win is by cheating but el gerouge got it all 8 years later on in the birth place of the olympics athens. such looser morceli is.

  • @jiltonik it is hard to see and morceli i think did indeed trip el g, but not intentionally. he clipped his own knee which sent his right leg out slightly. to think that morceli would be skilled enough and foolish enough to try that in the olympics seems a stretch, morceli hadnt lost to el g before so why should this have been any different, morceli was still king at this stage, he hadnt yet declined. always the chance el g could have won of course, but bottom line it certainly wasnt intentional

  • wach a wald lablayda kayan chi soucisse dial dowara wala

  • Be fair guys. No athlete, especially one of Morceli's caliber, would intentionally cause the fall of an athlete. Personally I don't think El Guerrouj, the man who inspired my running, would have won this race... he moved too late, and Morceli has, in three prior world championships run 50-51 for his last 400 meters. El G corrected himself in '97 by staying close to the front and moving from 700m out. He should have taken silver, but Morceli deserved gold that day.

  • Are you kidding. Of course he intentionally tripped El Guerrouj. Look at the slow motion clips at the end, he kicked his leg out to trip him. Even more so, El Guerrouj's running career is much better than Morceli's, and this was were he would begin dominating middle distance.

  • No, I am not kidding sir. You apparently don't have any clue about what you are talking about. El G stepped on Morceli's left heel, causing it to momentarily be trapped to where El G had stepped on it, while moving his right leg, which caused him to stumble, but avoid falling.

  • Look, I don't need you to stubbornly and unintelligently negate what I said. I know WAY more about El Guerrouj than you. His mile WR inspired me to start running myself. I also know plenty about Morceli, enough to tell you that he doesn't win races by tripping his opponents. He didn't do that in Tokyo, Stuttgart, or Gothemburg, where he won his world titles, nor in any other race. It's only "obvious" that you're clueless.

  • bro Morceli was a great champion..dont get me wrong but know both of them..Im an ex international Moroccan athlete who ran against and with El Guerrouj, was in training camps with him in Ifrane and Rabat Morocco and have known him since he was 16

  • What does El Guerrouj say about this race?

  • there are political problems between Morocco and Algeria and he was advised not to comment

  • Even so with El G having a more distinct running career, Morceli won this olympic title, three world championships, set WRs in the 1000m and 1500m indoors, the outdoor 1500, mile, 2000, and 3000. This is not to mention his unbeaten streak over 1500m between 1992 and 1996. He has the credentials, the fast times, and the consistency. Quit downplaying the achievements of the great Nourredine Morceli.

  • 1996 was te last year he won that 1500m cause Elguerrouj took over in Sep of that year and kept teaching Morceli some lessons

  • elguerrouj beat him badly immediately after this race to prove that he was the one who was gonna win the olympics and then morceli never won since..it is what it is..it was elguerrouj's time.period..not to take anything away from the great noureddine..what noureddine did to aouita is what elguerrouj did to him and elguerrouj achieved more than both of them

  • It doesn't freaking matter. Morceli won in 1996. He won the gold. He was the olympic champion. El G's turn would come 8 years later. End of story.

  • what u just said and the way u said it proved to me that ur just one of those idiots who dont know shit..it matters when u win cheating moran

  • I will lose no more sleep over this. If you think a great injustice has been done, why don't you man up and complain to the IAAF/ IOC?

Morceli won. He wasn't disqualified. He wasn't stripped of his GOLD medal. No intelligent person has accused him of cheating. You are but an obscure conspiracy theorist with nothing better to do than accuse great athletes of absurd things.

    Lie low,

    estifanico.

There's no other way to go.

  • I disagree. Look at 5:08. Morceli's right foot touched the left calf and ricochet, causing him to take a wider step to keep his balance. Then El Guerrouj stepped on Morceli's foot.

Not sure what caused Morceli's foot to touch his own calf, but it didn't seem intentional to me.

  • @TheAcharis it looks as u say but stil it was well intentional, he knew that Elguerrouj was the favourit. he has no chance to win it fairly.

  • @TheAcharis if you look really closely u can see that el g got too close and brushed the left foot of morceli throwing him off balance and therefore his right foot goes into el g's stride path and el g hit and tripped on morceli's heel. It was an error by El G. It's hard to tell but if u look closely u can see.

  • @TheAcharis

Running in a straight line as in cat-running? LOLS~

  • I totally agree..Morceli would never have won an Olympics if he didnt trip El Guerrouj..the O was what was missing in his resume since he got beaten in 1992..but a Fresh young El guerrouj had a better season that year and was ready to win..Morceli felt the threat and triped El Guerrouj..Elguerrouj kept chasing Morceli after the championship but Morceli would always avaoid elguerrouj by pulling out of races till he caught him in Reiti,Italy at the end of the season and taught him a lesson.

  • I have to disagree with you. A typical last lap for Morceli at a championship race would've been 50/51 seconds. El Guerrouj's fastest last lap was 51.91 in Athens in 2004, but usually ran 52/53.xx. I'm just saying that we shouldn't overlook the accomplishments of Morceli... to say that Morceli tripped El Guerrouj (and especially from in front of him) is absolutely ridiculous.

  • You have to be kidding. Didn't you just watch this? El Guerrouj stepped on the back of Morceli's leg. How can you sit there, and try to sell to people that Morceli tripped El Guerrouj? How can you sell that as being honest? El Guerroj should be ashamed at what he did. He almost tripped the leader, who can not see behind him, and is defenseless. Let's start over and be honest about this race.

  • Sure... Certainly believe that from a idiot who knows next to nothing in athletics... so specific too. You cheat sir. You cheat some of the greatest athletes of all time.

  • yes you clearly can see that Morcelli stepped deliberately aside with his right food in'the running-line of Guerrouj

he should have been demedaled afterwards by IOC for this obstraction

  • being a big fan of Morceli and El Guerrouj, I admit that I have much love that is what would happen if the Moroccan was not dropped, the two men were very strong. In any case, both have won an Olympic title and several titles of world champions

  • weld el 9e7ba 3atrou :@

  • 5:10

it looks as if he intentionally put his leg so hicham would fall
