well...if u want to play really good darbuka u will really have to love it ...if u don't really want to learn u should not learn att all....to me it could be very usefull to have some lessons with a teacher....

after a while u will have to produce your own solo....dont give up if its not good....the important is to continue play till u play like a darbuka player..your solo will get longer and longer,better and better gradually...

im also a darbuka player and i love tis instrument!

ofcourz teacher , u can also learn online but u would need some one their with you to GUIDE YOU on your mistakes etc etc .. so i would suggest to find a good teacher n practice MANY HOURS
