Retreat? I'm trying hard not to laugh at you. The problem with people like you is ; you are your own worse enemy. You cut your own throat and never seek the morsels of support one might find if they were receptive to balance and reasonableness. I lost nothing; you don't even understand the difference and certain similarities between a republic and democracy. I did before I was a Pol Sci major.
ACLU stands for Atheist Commie Liberal Union. Every group claiming they want equal rights is really about gaining an advanage. Better than others rights. The 8th amendment of the consititution says equal protection under the law. Nuff said.
While we're at it, how about some reproductive rights for men? How about women need to sign up for the draft? How about the elimination of alimony which has no more place in society? Women's Rights are covered, in multiple places, with unprecedented rights and protections never seen before in the world. Enough.
Yeah I agree. Notice how when a group is getting a better deal than everyone else they never have problem with that? Woman have it better than men, in every area yet continue to bitch. If I go into a bar and sit there by myself awhile nobody buys me a drink and starts talking to me. Im a man I have to buy mine own drinks.
@LordSlag Try to think of the rights of other groups as the foundation your rights are built upon. That is equal protection. I wouldn't argue with your premise, but you seem to argue against it with your line of reasoning. How does taking away other people's rights shore up yours? It's the problem with America right now; worse every decade. Special interests with no regard for others is what drives the gradual infringement of all slowly but surely.
@BillofRightsBrutus I'm not doing any of those things that you say. I'm simply asking for the law to treat men and women equally. Show me how I'm doing otherwise.
@LordSlag It's irrelevant anyway. America is a constitutional democracy. If your government does it, allows it, or facilitates an environment conducive to it, you are doing it. The government is action in the name of the people, consistent with, or contra to, guaranteed constitutional rights of individuals. I wasn't accusing you directly of anything, but it doesn't matter to begin with. The exception, of course, is setting yourself apart from it. See no eveil, hear no evil, speak no evil.
@BillofRightsBrutus America is a constitutional republic, get your facts straight. Further, holding me accountable for the actions that the majority took before my birth even when I oppose those actions smacks of fascism. Your damned right I set myself apart from the misandry of my culture. Demonstrate to me how I'm wrong, say something relevant, or be silent please.
@LordSlag I have my facts straight; what is your point? Tell me something I didn't know already. Why don't you look at the distinguishing attributes of republics if you are so fucking smart and you would realize you are talking out your ass. My point was philosophical and political; you chose to personalize it. Stay inside your little box; I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself thinking outside of in a larger, hypothetically-real manner.
@LordSlag Republicanism in political science - A different interpretation of republicanism is used among political scientists. To them a republic is the rule by many and by laws while a princedom is the arbitrary rule by one.
@LordSlag By this definition despotic states are not republics while, according to some such as Kant, constitutional monarchies can be. Kant also argues that a pure democracy is not a republic, as it is the unrestricted rule of the majority. For some, republicanism meant simply the lack of a monarchy, while for others monarchy was compatible with republicanism. - wikipedia (republicanism)
@BillofRightsBrutus So now you're mad because you not only did I call you on starting a hissy fight with me, I won. You had no point, you still don't have one and you cannot demonstrate to me ONE thing I've said that's incorrect. "hypothetically-real"? Could you engage in a little more bald-faced sophistry please? I spoke of real iniquities between the rights of men and woman and you've turned it into some farce of semantics. Please fall silent lest you make a BIGGER fool of yourself.
@LordSlag No; I feel sorry for you. You obviously don't know how to fucking read or comprehend. Farce of semantics? The form of government America actually has is the most basic discussion any idiot that is a citizen should be capable of having.
@LordSlag What's more, hypothetically-real is a quasi term concerning plausibility and other things on a level you are apparently not prepared to recognize, let alone play on. You seem happy politically and historically challenged, so I will simply bid you a good day. I hope my words haven't been too big for.
@BillofRightsBrutus Exercise brevity. Your feelings are irrelevant. Yes, everything you've said other than your first post, in which you attempted to correct me in your ignorance, is a semantic farce. You're just an internet troll looking for a political fight, which you got, and then lost. Your ad hominem attacks on my intelligence merely serve to prove your status as just another idiot with little to nothing to say. If you wish to retreat from me, excellent. Good day.
@ReloadedNow Do unto others as you would have them, or your own government, do unto you. It's pretty basic and simple. If foreign governments were bankrolling the infringement of your rights, you probably wouldn't care for it much. I wouldn't anyway. I'm sure I am not alone on that concept.
