@raffialexanian 3 minutes so they could put proper spacing between him and the traffic that would be in front of him, because they were both going to Charlotte. It's easier to get the separation on the ground than having to deal with them on top of each other in the air.
I am meeting Patty H this weekend!!! yay! he is a major part of this accident, he is the ATC New York Departure.

I have a few questions, why didnt he callout "Mayday" or "Emergency"?
The ground control told the pilot that its gonna be three minutes for your trail traffic or something, whats that?
raffialexanian 2 years ago
He he callout Mayday as SOP and ICAO instructions said but while he's notifying there's other traffic calling so we don't hear it.
jorgete25 2 years ago
He did call out mayday. The departure controller stepped on it while attempting to transmit on frequency.

Co-pilot's voice is at the very beginning. It's Sullenberger who has that deep voice towards the the middle and end.

It's fifteen THIRTY nine. 1539. Seems all mixed up.
No1Swede 2 years ago
@Inmortal80 its 1549, doesnt matter that atc gave the wrong number through tho, as long as there were emergency services at the runway :p

The part of "radar contact is lost" sounds just as chilly as all other accidents, it feels really good that despite that everybody was safe.
Cold-headed, is part of what PIC means.

So heartfelt!!!A true sinking feeling when he's unable to return. Remember to listen during the silence...it's the whole timeline.
